The shade layer is just a series of layers set to the multiply setting in photoshop, on top of the scanned and cleaned up pencils. Then with the pencil layer set to multiply, I just add the colors in layers underneath it. Then I add highlight layers up top, fur texture, etc.

I noticed you do your high and low lights before color. What is your method for that? Do you color with a certain amount of opacity?
