That is exactly it Sarah! This show is primarily about a series of EVENTS that lead to Episode 3. It can NOT change the end result! Its major achievement is how it gives us a deeper look into several characters - some major ones, some minor ones, and some new ones - and enhances our understanding of a lot of them. For example, prequel movies Anakin goes from an annoying kid, to a bratty, self absorbed, creepy teenager, to an obsessive, still insecure adult that eventually chooses to betray all his friends and turns to the dark side. Overall I found him a pretty unlikable character back then. But, after watching Clone Wars and witnessing his courage, his loyalty to his friends, his skills as a general, and even his short temper, over confidence, and sometimes questionable decision making, my re-watches of Episode 3 and the rest of the movies were forever changed. After Clone Wars, for me, the primary theme of Star Wars switched from being "The adventures of LUKE Skywalker" to "The tragedy of ANAKIN Skywalker".

I think it was never about Jar Jar not having his heart in the right place. I believe some people found his antics, mannerisms and clumsiness more annoying than funny, or perhaps distracting and a bit too much (?). Who knows? as Tobywan said, some SW fans don't need much of an excuse to go over the top with the hate. 🤔

I get that. Like in the grand scheme of things, it’s like they were just back to square one but now we have a much deeper appreciation of all the characters. Like for example, I used to think Padme was too inlove with Anakin. But we saw that despite that “love”, she can clearly put her duty before her.

I always thought that the hate for him was very misplaced. And if anything, story logic, how was he supposed to know what would happen in Ep 3??? 🙈 Not like there’s any time travelers in SW.

I did not like Jar Jar until I watched this series. I never hated on the Jar Jar actor as so many people did in the early 2000s (pretty sad - some SW fans can go way over the top sometimes), but I just didn’t care for him as a character. I thought he was too silly and didn’t really add much to the story in episode 1 or 2 as a whole. The show has added a new dimension to him for me. I still wouldn’t say he’s anywhere near my favorite character in the show or the movies, but I tolerate, or maybe even appreciate him more now.
