I personally can't stand when a protagonist lies and spouts BS to this degree. So this was a tough chapter for me to get through.

Alkole

I mean going by the childbirth point wouldn't harry be lily's horcruxe in that situation since Voldemort isn't gonna splinter his soul cause some girl is giving birth even if it is his baby momma

TypistTyphon

Fantastic chapter!

bor902

Oh yeah thanks for that

MagicWafflez

.... omg. after my dozenth or so reread I just realized: "You could probably do something similar through the act of birth, another destabilising act, although destruction is more conductive to separation than creation." !!! so harry evans is probably voldemort's horcrux as well, huh? what a sneaky way to do it... it probably didn't turn out how he expected though, what with Harry ending up an SI... hm hm~

Great chapter. Quick note. I believe the letter said that the diary was destroyed not Charon. “informing him that Charon had been destroyed”

Simplexity

I like this, it shows Charon is not super old but probably has Albus thinking he's in his 40-80s especially since he would also think of him as from the new world.

Green0Photon

The biggest tell that it's a bluff is how defensive Charon acts towards Dumbledore. You have someone who's supposedly this so great immortal wizard who's been hidden all this time. Why would he be afraid of Dumbledore. He acts crotchety but not. He's up to date on slang but has ancient hidden knowledge. He has impeccable magic skills in the one way they've fought, and yet also wandless magic. He knows your own unknowable past and ancient lore. Yet, a Phoenix likes him. Despite the defensiveness, it's really just one of many things that don't make sense about this guy. What possible Occam's Razor shave could possibly come up with any simple solution? If there are other reincarnators, maybe some things could make sense. But still so much more wouldn't. Unless you're specifically genre savvy, thinking you're talking to a self insert into a book you're in is so far beyond the realm of sensible that only Japanese school children could possibly come up with it. I mean, I guess, the only possible explanation is a hidden immortal so skilled in wandless magic, but less so normal magic and duelling. He's been around for a long time, but doesn't fight, and mostly just chills. And he probably made his own philosopher's stone or something. I wonder if we'll see Harry yoink the Stone 🤔

bor902

Doesn't that function to obfuscate the origins more? Maybe a good thing

bor902

Thanks haha, was going for that vibe

carebear90

I thought that was on purpose? He asked this, after all: "Where are those fabled old-world manners I've heard so much about?" That sounded to me as if he pretended to be from 'the new world'. Or at least that he has spent most of his time there lately.

Silver W. King

The biggest bluff of all fucking time.

MagicWafflez

I love it~ one thing though... elementary schools are called primary schools in the UK, I think... it makes him sound vaguely American?
