I know what you mean, but it could be twisted in a funny way i think 'When [insert name] left closed cultivation, all of the sect members were gone..' ~ Narrator voice
IV08004
Glory to arystotic
Gremlin Jack
For helping train people in bureaucratic procedures. A short little game along the lines of "Papers, Please"
Johannes
Love that game but I don't think it would land well. It's kind of a parody of something the cultivators don't have in the first place
Chickendoodle 32
Doom (þe original)
Thomas
Phasmophobia lmao Maybe some team death match game similar to Rainbow 6, he could make a system that links a bunch of illusion rooms together so people can experience then together My little nightmares Scp Maybe a survival game like ark Dead by daylight(one person hunts the rest)
Joshua Wachter
Soul edge. Soul caliber story and tournament
Joshua Wachter
Teenage mutant ninja turtles. Mutant spirt beasts cultivating and living in the sewers. Using techniques to disguise them among the mortal city population. Good cultivators fighting shredders evil sect from the shadows
Joshua Wachter
Dragon ball z! Always a more powerful threat. Bloodlines. Tequniques. Cultivation. A way to introduce different worlds and dimensions and races. New giant threat. A sky beyond a sky. Tournaments. Etc
Joshua Wachter
Followed by transformers. A new metal race of advanced cultivators infiltrating this planet and multiple sects. The righteous transformers harvesting recourses united by the low cultivation locals i.e. qi infused metals and also raw qi. The demonic deceptacons plundering everything in site. They are able to transform I to artifacts. Bumble bee could be a magic carpet or transportation cloud etc.
Joshua Wachter
First keeping with the metal theme. Voltron. Immortal spirits encased in metal bodies. Controlled by bloodlines cultivators. Threats against the world and galaxy. Quests for rare plants. Evil bad guys to defeat. Grand sweeping everything including arcitecture.

Hollow Knight Low tech so no need to put a lot of effort to change it in this aspect. Platformer to help train the movement of disciples in a new and unique way, help them think in three dimensions. Plenty of combat to help train in preparation for the future war(?) and with a familiar weapon. Would also allow more freedom in how there would be less rails, letting them choose not to face everything as the hollowknight did and letting those who already know the story a new experience. The story is bloody amazing, not much more needs to be said, could probably fit in a lot of stuff to reflect the cultivation world. The environment has a wide range to help prepare against a multitude of scenarios and against both beasts and armed combatants. Finally, it is my favourite game and it would be really cool to see it in your novel and go against the expected choice of Elden Ring.
BrokenwingsA21
League of Legends, most character already have some kind of backgroud lores and quotes readily usable
nonameboi12
Dishonored
Dwayne Palmer
do Elder Ring
CCBlazes
Stronghold, a top down supply and tactics type game for the commander or officer types. I imagine the zombies will potentially spread and siege and so a game about zombie siege. Could also be like the “Last Spell” game on steam. Alternatively team tactics games like left 4 dead could happen and easily transition into cold weapons. Maybe you could do something more direct - like a game for his fellow illusionist cultivators - something to make them creative to fight against the grid lock of patterns/templates. Almost like a VR Minecraft - or like giving them developer tools.
Moon Winchester
Shadow of the Colossus would be fucking awesome in a cultivation illusion room
Aspen Starscape
Mortal Combat: for outer disciples exploring potential specialization options and various matchups between different styles. Papers Please: for boarder guards trying to identify spies. Tetris: as a "mind worm weapon" that disrupts the focus and meditation ability of those who play. CIV V: for inter-sect politics and military managment.
Rei
Cyberpunk (artifacts and Foreign Ideas for inspiration)
Moon Winchester
Chained together would force inherently selfish cultivators to think about and appreciate their comrades. It would induce self hate but it would match a cultivators ideology. Reach and striving for the heavens. Only for it to lead back to hell and your strive all over again. Infinite improvement, infinite growth, infinite hell. If that’s not cultivation then what the hell is.
Alexanders Saintsworth
Monster Hunter Series, thise ought to be valuable since they Teach you to fight and harvest monsters
Jason Smith
Undertale Starcraft Skyrim Last of Us Bloodborne SCP: Containment Breach -Bonus points if it's procedurally generated Elden Ring Silent Hill Mass Effect Factorio Inscription -Bonus points if you put clues to the lore in the arrays like the real game does in its source code
Michael John Hughes
Armored Core
Daniel
Valheim (survival) Any souls game Uncharted (for tome/ruins raiding)
Sammy Berger
I think he should continue to branch out into less traditional 1v1 scenarios, so I'll second these two: - God of War is a good combat game because of its strong story and themes about godhood. However, it may get scoffed at due to our MC's low cultivation - Frostpunk might be interesting as a radical challenge to the very foundation of what Illusion Rooms are capable of, while still providing a serious challenge
Sondre - Asumodeus
Monster Girl Quest
Jonathan Mottlau
Skyrim absolutely. final fantasy 10 could work too. the diablo franchice seems workable too.
Wing00Raiser
Mario Party...... No too evil. Or perhaps a racing Game like F-Zero. Only with typical Xianxia vehicles or mounts.
kid broly
God of war. Minecraft. Pokemon(for taming cultivators). Elerscroles games. (Like skyrim)
GameJunkie999
For lots just a 1v1 simulation where they Face the final boss Wukong from BM Wukong, with all his just straight up disrespectful moves. Another good one would be a hunting simulator game, would be a good game that could show Cultivators the essentials when it comes to hunting idk
Will Turner
Gears of War not sure how that would work but there you go.
Moon Winchester
More than that, it would force him to think about their fellow man and how their actions would affect them in those around them. It could also teach cultivators to react and predict what their teammates would do this in a way could help them with doing group formations, not the movement, but the cultivator power type
GameJunkie999
I mean it would be good for establishing team work and cooperation. It would force cultivators to work together and collaborate in order to succeed.
kid broly
Souls games. Shadow of the colossus. Demon slayer(like facing the upper moons). Infamous second son(the heavens bless a bunch of random people). Spiderman. Prodotype(a demon cult makes the darklight virus). Predator. Frostpunk( a leadership trial). Mortal combat. (These are just little notes for some ideas to go along with the suggestions)
Depressed_Thing
Ah, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor would also be quite interesting.
Depressed_Thing
Warhammer 40k
donald youngberg
would think a good exploration/puzzle game with some combat like the original Tomb Raider. Might split it up to the various maps so would have one then a part 2 for later trying. Some combat with at times pretty surprising foes. Add in cultivator flair and even like a sword flying training scenario.
Moon Winchester
WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! MAKE A CHAINED TOGETHER CULTIVATOR EDITION.
Dead Mercy
Hitman(any of them really)
Jome late
Shadow of the colossus
Forint
I was thinking tao based energy deflect fighting with what you said. Taiwanese I believe.
Jeff Roy
Beat Saber
Forint
I really don't know about that dude. Last of Us is a darling, but adapting a particular keep the girl safe through a harrowing sequence would work better in training people to fight than the full game. And making a full game is hard. Also something like last of us, the full game, shouldn't be an assignment for some soldiers. This is magnum opus shit. Unless he's planning to develop his own game at some point..?
Moon Winchester
Since it’s a Souls type game and a mix of Japanese Mythos and Power system mixed with high tech sci-fi elements
bor902
its also possible to make a full game. Outlast was fully adapted, and next one will be too
Forint
Low key genius suggestion
Forint
You just make sequences right? Not full games?
Forint
Super hot is a great choice actually. Edit: SuperHot is an excellent choice. All you have to do is put a timer in the corner of their and leaderboards. Impossible to *improve* to supplant in the library because that would invalidate current leaderboards. And the people in the leaderboards wouldn't like that.
Ian Smith
Monster Hunter! It lends so well to the cultivation mindset.
Gabriel
If you’ve played it then maybe black myth wukong since you fight plenty of non human enemies and bosses in that game.
Yunru
Portal 2
Gilhe
Pokémon cultivator style
Faeblood
Cultivation simulator 😏
Jaxer30
Diablo Dragon age Sniper elite (but with bows, for the stealth/accuracy training) Throw them curveballs. City skylines Superhot The binding of Isaac (or a rogelite in general) Mirror's edge
Blahful
Dota 2 as a training simulation for teamwork. Capitalism to practice trade ( networked ) Age of Empires for high level military officers/ Royalty PUBG has do much possibility.
C&C
Stanley Parable No grand reason behind this, as it wouldn't really offer any 'benefits'. I just think the core concept could be adapted quite easily, and make for a really unique experience
UselessEyeBee
Everyone is insistent on using Illusion Rooms to train for facing monsters. May as well give them Monster Hunter, potentially Palword idk.
Moon Winchester
So these games need to be beneficial for cultivators so. So maybe have him make a 3d version of Nine Souls on steam.
Hedincool
Team Fortress 2 😃
bor902
damn that was fast
Johannes
Some strategy game. Maybe total war Warhammer?
HeavenlyQuasar
Skyrim
