Chapter 7: A mastermind?
🕑 Added 2025-08-06 14:48:16 +0000 UTC"You are here to pay respects to Obito, right? I'll take you there."
Yami said.
In fact, he and Shisui had been patrolling the Uchiha clan's territory these days.
They were responsible for getting rid of the ANBU that sneaked in.
But in order not to cause conflicts, they just used genjutsu to knock out these ANBU, and then threw them outside the Uchiha compound.
The ANBU themselves were responsible for retrieving these operatives who failed to infiltrate.
“Then I'm sorry to trouble you, everyone around here seems to hate us,” Might Guy nodded quickly, then said to Yami in a very low voice.
Kakashi's face was stiff.
After all, in addition to paying respects to Obito, he was also responsible for collecting intelligence.
But in front of his friends, he couldn't bring himself to act on that mission.
"I'll take you with me, it'll be fine."
Yami smiled, then patted Guy on the shoulder.
He had the best relationship with Guy, while Kakashi himself could only maintain some friendship with the others of their generation.
Everyone in Yami's original squad had already sacrificed their lives and died on the battlefield.
Although he had trained very hard back then, his strength wasn’t the same as geniuses.
Without cheating, how could he catch up to them?
The group then quickly arrived at the cemetery near the Uchiha clan ancestral hall where members of the Uchiha clan were buried.
Might Guy and Kakashi were very solemn when paying their respects to Obito.
It didn't take much time before they prepared to leave.
But before departing, Kakashi looked at Yami with complicated eyes.
"Can the Uchiha live in peace with the village?"
Kakashi couldn't help but ask Yami, who was watching the sunset.
"You should ask Konoha about this matter."
"Why are they targeting the Uchiha like this?"
"The Uchiha don't want to end up like the Senju clan."
Yami looked at Kakashi and said to him calmly.
Kakashi's face froze.
He smiled bitterly and said nothing more.
"Protect your eyes, and later on, I will tell you a secret… the truth about the deaths of Obito and Rin."
Yami suddenly opened his Mangekyō Sharingan, then said to Kakashi.
He also felt that Konoha's actions were getting sharper and closer recently, so he wanted to give them a little shock to make them fearful and hesitant.
One more day of delay was enough.
Basically, the collection of supplies had been completed.
At the same time, the team leaders of the police force had already grasped the general situation.
Just a little more time.
"You!"
"The truth about Obito and Rin's deaths, what is that?"
Kakashi was shocked to see the Mangekyō.
But his attention immediately focused on the truth behind Obito and Rin's deaths.
This was the most important part of his life.
“You’ve been wallowing in despair for too long. You’re not yet strong enough to grasp what I’m about to say.” “Still, I’ll tell you something…”
"The deaths of Rin and Obito were not as simple as they seem, there’s a mastermind manipulating things in the background.... I will tell you the truth after you master the Mangekyō Sharingan."
Yami said directly.
“Planned? By who?”
Then no matter how much Kakashi pressed, Yami didn't say anything more.
“Yami, please,”
But Yami only shook his head.
Might Guy also wanted to ask on the side, but he held back in the end.
He knew that Yami would never reveal what he didn't want to say.
In the end, after Yami escorted the two people out of the Uchiha compound, he disappeared from their sight.
Kakashi said goodbye to Might Guy with a heavy expression, then went back to submit his report.

"What exactly are the Uchiha planning to do?"
"Is there really going to be a war?"
Sarutobi Hiruzen said with a dark expression.
He didn't expect that the Uchiha would really dare to have such intentions.
What he was worried about at this time was that one-third of their forces had not been transferred back, because it wasn't that simple to switch defenses on the front lines.
They needed to retreat gradually, and as such, the other ninja villages wouldn’t be allowed to take the opportunity to invade.
It wouldn't be easy to deal with the Uchiha in one decisive strike, so a large number of personnel were needed.
"Do you want to strike first?"
"Take the initiative and catch them off guard. This can reduce a lot of casualties."
Danzo spoke.
In fact, he was almost ready, and at the same time, he had threatened the patriarchs of some small families and asked them to take action together.
"No, if Konoha takes action first, the big families in the village will become afraid of us, which will be bad for the future."
"Furthermore, Kakashi reported that the former genius of the Uchiha clan, named Yami, also possesses the Mangekyō Sharingan, and his abilities are currently unknown."
Sarutobi Hiruzen shook his head.
Yami's plan had succeeded.
Whether those families in the village were afraid or not, Sarutobi Hiruzen actually didn't care as much.
But he was still quite wary of the Mangekyō Sharingan's abilities.
After all, with Shisui as precedent, who knew what this Mangekyō's power might be.
He wanted to get more information and make sure it was safe before taking action.
After all, no ninja after the First Hokage and Madara Uchiha engaged in direct confrontations anymore, intelligence warfare was more important.
"What?! The Uchiha clan has another Mangekyō owner!"
Danzo was also surprised.
He knew the Uchiha very well.
In the recent years, they had deliberately controlled the Uchiha clan's missions, so that they had less contact with battles, and as such, that somewhat prevented the Mangekyō from appearing.
Unexpectedly, two young people of this current generation somehow both possessed the Mangekyō Sharingan.
"Let's wait until we have more personnel."
"However, we must monitor the Uchiha more closely to confirm any information about what they've done after leaving the Uchiha compound."
"Those ANBU who were affected by genjutsu… it looks very much like Shisui's handiwork. He may have chosen to side with the Uchiha!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen was already treating this matter as preparation for war.
Moreover, they had to win without too many casualties.
Those ANBU who were affected by the genjutsu were quickly analyzed, and it was determined that Shisui had likely done it.
The two Mangekyōs were what Sarutobi Hiruzen was the most cautious about.

Konoha Year 56, Autumn
"The assignments have been distributed, but many people argued and didn’t understand what was going on."
“Things were starting to go south…”
"But after I demonstrated my Mangekyō ability, they no longer had any doubts."
Uchiha Fugaku said to Yami.
Yami nodded, then spoke.
"Tomorrow morning, we will act directly."
"People are the most important thing this time. If they can't take something with them, they shouldn’t worry about it."
"What we have lost, we will get back twice as much when we return."
The time was not chosen at midnight, but at dawn.
This was because this time was when ANBU changed shifts, and it was also when the sky was getting slightly brighter.
After going through the dark night without any movement, no one would think that they would take action before dawn.
"Understood."
Fugaku nodded, then hesitated.
"Don't you need to discuss this with Shisui?"
But Yami had other thoughts.
"There can be no mistakes, this is about the lives of the Uchiha clan."
"The faster this action is, the better. The opening of the passage will be in the center, so that everyone can cross over in the shortest time."
Yami shook his head.
People who had been compromised could no longer be trusted absolutely.
