Recommendations: The Wire
🕑 Added 2023-01-30 14:00:05 +0000 UTCIt's said there's two types of people; those who think The Wire is one of the best shows ever made, and those who think The Wire is the best show ever made.
I'm in the first camp, but do understand why so many put it as #1, and the more I think about it, the more I'm tempted to put it up there myself.
Full warning, this is a show that doesn't hold your hand, and will not remind you of important details if they're missed, in fact, The Wire makes a habit of setting things up that don't pay off until the end of the season they appear, sometimes even later.
That connection is the magic though, for me it was Episode 4, and for my friend, it was the end of Season 1, when it clicked, and it never stopped letting up from there. It's a program that if you offer it your full attention, it will reward with fantastic writing, an unforgettable cast of characters, and a portrayal of Baltimore that's simultaneously other wordly and maybe the most believable setting ever for a series.
It does something nothing else I"ve ever seen does, where each Season is both its own unique entity, and builds to a larger story seamlessly. It's certainly made me rethink writing and presentation just in-general.
Regardless, very few things have received the sheer amount analysis The Wire has, and it's because of its brilliance.

Et tu, Brute? "P.S." is abbreviation for "post scriptum" which literaly means "after written". So as far as I know "P.S.S" would be incorrect because it means "after written written" which does not make sence. And one should use "P.P.S" after "P.S." Or is there something I don't know?
