[Mod + Update] Mizuha gloves, boots and suit
🕑 Added 2022-11-13 06:16:51 +0000 UTCHello!
Whenever I take too long to post an update I'm always scared because to me it seems I might be taking advantage of your generous support, however it is thanks to your support I'm able to create and improve each day!
This update might not seem like much but, it has taken me lots of work and time to complete, so hopefully you enjoy it.
So last time I posted this, and at first glance it looks like the main part of the suit is finished, however, this suit has some serious issues.
The issues become obvious once you start putting the rest of the outfit together, in this case, the gloves are clearly "inside" the suit, the boots had the same issue (it is just that I forgot to take a screenshot!), and the details on the leg are twisting like crazy, this is because I created them as meshes instead of textures, this would be no problem, however the meshes I created were not shaped properly and even if I did them correctly, they might still end up twisting around because of Mizuha's thighs.
So, what's the solution? I decided that it would be a great idea to just isolate that part and create a proper texture for that spot, here's what I did.
First why this issue happens:
Whenever you want to create a skin-tight suit, you have to take into consideration, that some clipping might occur because of how close the clothes are to the character's body, so one way to work around this is to use Blender's Shrink/flatten option, that expands or contracts the mesh along the normals of each face:
You select the mesh:
And expand away!
This is pretty useful, because it allows the characters to put on some shiny body clothes which I love to use. This would be no issue at all, but I forgot to leave the hands not that expanded, so I had to correct that.
After I got that solved, I had to work on the rest of the suit.
It was an improvement, however, if you take a closer look, you can see that the light reflections behave weirdly at that spot, and that the deatil on the legs has a weird color around it.
Maybe to someone else this is acceptable and not that much of a problem, however my main concern was the fact that changing the color of the suit was way too troublesome, here's a picture of why:
all of the UV maps, when selected (and this is just for the regular state), overlap each other, making it impossible to color the suit with just the 3 colors that Koikatsu offers, so, I decided to work on this:
Now this looks way more cleaner than the previous result.
With this out of the way, I could start working on the Color Mask for the whole outfit, this is the result (please consider that I left the UV map on so you could see way the colors are placed like that).
Here's the result without the UV map
I could still trim some of the colors but for now, this works, so I'm leaving it like that.
With that out of the way, I packed the mod and tried it in-game (of course the first attempts were not succesful but in the end it worked), here are the results:
I also made that the default half-state is this:
In, case you still want the covers for the armpit, nipples and genitals, you can still re-enable them:
Now here's the suit with some of the colors changed:
You might also see that you can now add cloth patterns, and yes they do work, however, I'd recommend you use them just for the inner part of the clothes, here's some example with a modified version of Chisaki (character card created by the amazing ABCEEFG)
and here's another with just the colors changed (colors used are from her principal outfit).
I'm happy that the outfit can now be easily customized, and of course it now allows the use of the boots and gloves!
I made one last update, and that is that I packed the helmet with this mod and also made it colorable too!
Also after some trial and error, I managed to figure out how to add 4th color for the transparent part of the helmet, the visor.
Finally a Mizuha with her color scheme changed.
I'm planning on working on the cape and collar tomorrow, hopefully I can get them done by Tuesday, and after that I'll consider Mizuha completed and ready for release! (I'll update the old mods too, the lewd ritual outfit, the swimsuit and especially her uniform, which several of you had issues with due to me not creating a dedicated mod for it, and pack them all in the same zipmod file so you can finally delete the old files)
After that, I would like you to tell me on which character I should focus on next, another of the beast soldiers? Maybe create some mods for the principal? or should I create Mizuha's cosplay outfit? How about Rietta? Leave a comment or feel free to message me at Discord: Eifan#7282
Here's the mod, I'm includng an outfit (or coordinate) card in case you want to load the outfit directly:
