ANOTHER UPDATE? Can you please stop BBU Devs 😭
🕑 Added 2022-08-10 01:54:14 +0000 UTCSo as we move out of pre-production the updates are becoming more juicy and rapid and I'm starting to worry I'm spamming you a bit! Oops! I'm trying to do frequent updates to keep the updates more digestible. Would an update video perhaps be better? Thoughts? Once a month, once a week?
Anyway lets get into it!
Ambient Monsters
Lets start with my favourite thing ever! These singing mushroom men
Watch the video with audio here
This is why I got into game development. This is a rare event in which a mushroom will sing to attract a mate, and then dance with them to release their spore
I love the other mushroom man walking into frame at the back and sneezing!
These little guys don't attack but they still function like a hazard. Attack one and they'll release stunning spores. They also sneeze occasionally releasing small spore clouds. Better be careful where you step! Don't want to run into one
Crabcano! Local to Claw Bay, these little guys pack a pinch. They can't be damaged with your sword so your only hope is to freeze them
Watch the full video of these guys here
The guinpig! These little guys managed to sneak onto Dutch's floating resort in a food delivery and have multiplied out of control. They're main method of moving is digging underground, you'll probably need to use Oscar to kick them out.
Watch the full set of animations here
Basile has a voice!
And that voice is Ed Bosco! He plays both Aristotle and Basile, so enjoy this storyboard of him arguing with himself.
Watch the storyboard and voice acting here
Billie will spend a lot of this level between a bickering Basile and Aristotle in Dutch's chapter.
Shop Time!
Purchase new outfits and goodies from local vendors! The code infrastructure is now set up. You can also talk with vendors to learn rumours or gain extra side quests. You may get extra information from vendors if you take time to befriend them and do them favours.
This prototype uses Aristotle, but Aristotle won't be a vendor
Please ignore how stupid this may look. The breaking of the 180 rule for the camera... the broken eyes on Billie, the way the models stare aimlessly ahead of them and not at each other, or how the mushroom creature walks between them both so he can dance with his friend
Soundtrack!
More music! Adam is wrapping up the final mix for the prologue opener whilst also working on Scrimshaws smuggler shop song. It fits so good!!

And a sneak peak at the prologue music!
Storyboards!
We have finally finished all major rigs (excluding backer characters which I'm currently modelling and working through). We have around 60 unique rigs!! As a result we are now moving onto the animation process, so Ash is prototyping lots of storyboards for this occasion. Lets start with the Guard Dog enemies from Dutch's level
I SAW THAT GOAT! GET EM
Unsure if this one will work with the rig yet! Will need to check with Luke
Magic decoy! A worthy distraction to a puppy dog
Where did ya go?? If Billie disappears into thin air using invisibility, confusion is sure to follow
Angry Percy! No the residents won't be happy if you destroy all their stuff, they may be less likely to tell you rumours too
uwu Percy
Environment Art!
Ovie has been working hard at all our foliage, he has quite the passion for foliage whilst I do not! hehe, I love what he's been doing
Ignore the gravestone its like 5 years old, ill be remaking it
Jovi's concepts for Claw Bay foliage!
More Jovi concepts for Dutch's level foliage!
Merchandise!
The Barnaby pin prototypes have arrived and they look so good!! I haven't had a chance to inspect them in person yet but our programmer said the quality seems great. I still want to take a look and grade them first before ordering more, but I hope you like the result.
I still need to design some backing cards to go with it so they can look extra fancy! Once I approve them I'll be putting Elaine and Fantoccio through the same process (I get home tomorrow so soon!!)
We also have this plush cutiepie! Aristotle's plushie came out uber cute. Makeship is making a few more changes to his cape but here is the WIP!
That's it for this weeks (months?) update! See you real soon!
