Billie Bust Up-date! Cutscenes WOAH
🕑 Added 2023-02-04 21:29:16 +0000 UTCIt's time for another small update! Lets start with the juicy content first.
Animation!
We have had some paid animation tests completed. Applicants were assigned some cutscenes to animate with our rigs. The cutscenes will be used and credited in the final game!
First up we have Fantoccio!
Boarded by Ash and animated by Jacob Ovrick.
See the full voiced animation here
Then we have Barnaby!
Boarded by Ash and animated by YerkDiff!
Also here's a bonus of me trying to get it working nicely in engine, note to self, disable character input!
Dutch is ready to rumble for his boss fight!
Gameplay!
Magic decoy! Torment your local NPCs by summoning their true hearts desire to distract them. Some of these are placeholders for the sake of spoilers among other reasons.
- Hayes wants a nice chair to sit on, they could really use a break!
- Dutch has everything with all the money in the world, so his defaults to his most recent food craving
- Barnabys is a secret (for now)
- The bird would love some seed! A simple mind, food will survice
- Marmalade dreams of seeing the world on her own boat! Which will be much bigger in the actual level, we couldn't fit the actual ship into the testing map.
Who's magic decoy would you like to see?
Here we have some accessibility settings, featuring high contrast mode! Allowing the player to see important items as simple colours. Red for enemy, pink for a pick up, yellow for an interactable, blue for the player and green for friendly npcs!
Welcome to the insult room! Dutch will insult you for free! But in all seriousness this is another accessibility feature we're testing. We tag a line as insulting and you can turn off the insulting dialogue! Perhaps you've had a rough day and don't fancy a wolf yelling at you for losing his boss fight.
Then we have the subtitle room, each characters subtitles can have a unique colour to make it easier to see who's talking. The music also lowers in volume so you can hear them better!
Thumbnails!
Ash usually does thumbnails before the actual storyboard! Here are some sneak peaks
Stealing Dutchs candy!
Goats listening at closed doors may not like what they hear...
Tasty snack before a boss fight!
Here's some additional concepts Ash did as well, items you can find around Dutchs penthouse
Concept Art and Music
Now lets look at some concept art! We have a new concept art, Pepe! Who is working hand in hand with our lead concept artist Jovi!
Here are some concepts from the desert racing track for the bird races!
Next up Dutchs main hub area!
Why not look through the art with some music for the intended area! By our lovely composer Adam!
Logo exploration for Dutchs hotel!
The bird houses! Listen to the music for this area here
Or what about an abandoned underwater area from Dutch's hotel? Yes there is a lot of BioShock in Dutch's level in terms of tone.
Some finished models by Michael!
We're recording final vocals soon which I'm super excited for, mostly aiming to do cutscenes for now as to not block the animators. But that's it for this update! Thank you everyone!
