[Lore] The Rules of Magic
🕑 Added 2020-07-15 02:06:47 +0000 UTCAll living beings are imbued with magic, however very few are able to channel magic from the world to affect things externally.
- Magic is just another form of energy and thus can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change states.
- You cannot artificially increase your inherent magic capacity, but the quality of the magic performed can be increased drastically with training and practice.
- There is no “cost” (I.E mana points) to channel magic as the power is drawn in from the external world, however it does exert physical and mental strain on the channeler, so it cannot be done perpetually without rest.
- Being able to cast magic is often an inherited trait, but this is not a requirement.
- The beings magic capacity determines how powerful a channeler can become.
- Magic potions can be made using ingredients from rare beings of pure magic.
- Beings of pure magic cast spells intuitively (dragons, mythical beings etc.)
- Items can be enchanted to do set tasks. For example, you can infuse a crystal with dragon scale to create an everlasting source of heat.
- Items can be enchanted by a magic channeler without the use of reagents. This is considered the most dangerous method to use, as the channeler must sacrifice a part of their magic capacity to do so. This can also be extremely risky for channelers with smaller capacity as completely extinguishing your magic capacity will kill you.
- Enchanted items rarity can vary, depending on what rarity of the ingredients used to make them.Magic capacity infused enchanted items (items that have required a magic capacity sacrifice) are EXTREMELY rare.
