Heo Seong-ah drew a big house and shaded around it to show grass.
On the grass, she drew two roughly sketched adults and three smaller children.
She gave all of them the same seagull-shaped eyes, making them look like they were smiling.
To fill the empty space at the top, she added a sun and clouds.
"Twenty minutes have passed."
She had finished the drawing long ago.
While she was thinking if there was anything else to add, she ended up receiving two penalties.
"Um..."
"Hm? What is it?"
"I'm done..."
There was no right answer anyway.
Heo Seong-ah put down her pencil and handed her drawing to Jun-ha.
"This is your finished drawing?"
"Yeah..."
It was a drawing with less skill than an elementary schooler’s.
A simple, clumsy style with no sign of any art education.
In other words, a drawing that showed no sincerity at all.
"Hmm..."
Looking at the drawing, Jun-ha’s face darkened in real time.
He let it go, but pointed at the house with a displeased expression.
"Where is this supposed to be? Did you draw the mansion?"
"Oh? Yeah..! I thought maybe in the future we’d keep living here together... hehe..."
In truth, she’d just drawn a random cottage without thinking.
But the grass and trees she’d added to fill the space gave her an excuse.
"I see."
Jun-ha nodded and pointed at the two big people.
"These are you and me, right?"
"Yeah..!"
"And the three little ones below, are those the children we’d have together? Right?"
"Yeah..! That’s right..!"
From their previous conversations, Jun-ha, who had grown up without parental love and suffered from affection deprivation, seemed to want a lively family.
Believing that having children was the fruit of love, she made sure to draw three children.
"I want to have lots of kids with you, Jun-ha... and live happily here!"
She didn’t forget to whisper words full of "sincere" love.
Thanks to her, the stern look on Jun-ha’s face softened into a smile.
"That’s nice."
"R-right? I like it too..!"
"It’s all good, Seong-ah, but..."
Was something wrong?
Jun-ha sighed inwardly and stroked his chin, tilting his head.
"It’s really all good, but..."
"Huh..?"
"Why only three?"
"Huh..?"
Unfortunately, Heo Seong-ah’s answer was close, but not the correct one.
"Uh... uh..?"
Was it not enough children?
Jun-ha pressed his lips together, suppressing a smile, as if he couldn’t accept it.
"I just thought... three would be enough..."
"Three is enough? I want to have about ten."
"Ah... o-okay..?"
"I’m disappointed. I thought we were on the same page."
From the start, the test was an interrogation with the answer already decided.
Heo Seong-ah was supposed to read Jun-ha’s mind through her drawing.
Of course, if she could do that, she’d be a world-famous magician, not female livestock.
"I like ten too..! I only drew three because I thought you might feel pressured..."
Trying to read the mood, Heo Seong-ah gave a model answer without panicking.
But instead, her thoughtless words only provoked Jun-ha’s anger.
"Pressured? Me? If you wanted, I could have ten or even twenty kids."
"Ah... well..."
He wasn’t just picking a fight.
With his obsessive attachment to Heo Seong-ah, he was the type who would do anything she wanted.
And since he saw childbirth as the fruit of love, he thought even a hundred kids wouldn’t be too many.
"Why would having ten kids be a burden? Does that mean you doubt your love for me?"
How did he twist it into that?
"Uh... well..."
Lost for words, Heo Seong-ah blinked at Jun-ha, her face frozen but her hands and feet trembling in fear.
"Well? Answer me, why did you think that?"
"N-no... I just... maybe it was selfish of me... You know? Of course I know you want lots of kids, Jun-ha... I love you... That’s why I was being considerate..."
Pretending to understand his feelings, Heo Seong-ah watched for his reaction as she talked about love.
There was a subtle change in Jun-ha’s expression.
"Really?"
"Yeah..! I want to have as many as possible and live happily with you!"
"Hmm... That’s a good way to think, huh?"
His smile returned as he gently patted her head.
"Okay, but you don’t need to worry about unnecessary things like that. I always want to see your true self and know your true feelings. Got it?"
"Yeah..! I love you, Jun-ha..!"
"Me too."
Thankfully, she’d survived the first test...
...or so she thought.
If not for Jun-ha’s next words, it would have been perfect.
"Then let’s get you pregnant today."
"Eh... huh..?"
"Why are you so surprised? If you want to have ten or twenty kids, now’s the perfect time, right? After forty, menopause is likely, so you should start having kids while you’re healthy. If you start now at twenty and keep getting pregnant, you’ll have twenty kids by forty. Right?"
"Hhic..!"
Jun-ha said something so chilling it made her skin crawl.
He didn’t see her as a life partner, but as a machine for bearing his children.
"Don’t want to?"
"N-no!! I want to! I really want to..!"
Refusal wasn’t an option.
Right now, Heo Seong-ah was walking a precarious tightrope with no end in sight.
At the end of the rope was the chance to regain her human status.
One misstep, and she’d fall straight back to being livestock with no rights.
Yeah...
This was just another endless test of her heart.
"I want to get pregnant... Like you said, I think it’s best to get pregnant right away..!"
"Right?"
"Yeah..!"
For now, she resolved to just go along with whatever Jun-ha wanted.
It’s not like you can get pregnant just because you want to...
And the command to get pregnant right now was impossible if you thought about it.
"Good. I’m glad you said you want to. I was really scared you’d say no."
No matter what female livestock said, he’d always do what he wanted in the end.
With a brazen face, Jun-ha took a pill bottle from his pocket and shook it.
The few remaining pills rattled noisily.
"Now there’s no need to take these anymore, right?"
"Huh..? I don’t have to take them?"
"Of course. You said you want to get pregnant, right?"
"Oh..?"
What did pregnancy have to do with the drug?
Not understanding, Heo Seong-ah tilted her head in confusion.
"Don’t tell me you’ve been taking them all this time without knowing what they were? Puhaha!"
He never explained, just forced her to take them.
Laughing like a psychopath, Jun-ha belatedly explained the effect of the pills.
"These pills make your body super sensitive, addict you to orgasms, and scramble your brain. And, to turn female livestock into cock-sleeves who only care about sex, they also act as birth control."
They also increase obedience and have brainwashing effects...
But Jun-ha left that part out.
He didn’t know what kind of fit Heo Seong-ah would throw if she found out after finally becoming docile.
"Understand?"
"Ah... that’s what they were..?"
Come to think of it, she hadn’t had her period at all since becoming livestock.
At first, she thought it was just stress, and eventually, she just accepted not menstruating as normal.
So it was the birth control effect of the pills she’d been forced to take every night?
Then if she stopped taking them and had sex... wouldn’t pregnancy be inevitable?
"J-Jun-ha..."
"What?"
"Can I... keep taking the pills?"
She said it out of fear of pregnancy, before she realized.
Startled by her own words, she clapped her hands over her mouth.
"Ah, no, that’s not what I meant..."
"Why? Why suddenly say that?"
The pills made her mind go haywire.
The pleasure was so intense it made the next day miserable.
So she was truly terrified of taking them, but...
As much as she hated it, she’d rather endure the pain than get pregnant.
"Why did you say that? Do you not want to get pregnant?"
"No, it’s not that..."
"Then what is it?"
Her careless words only served to fan Jun-ha’s anger.
Like a tiny spark, his anger would either die down or flare up depending on what she said next.
"Well..."
With nothing to say, Heo Seong-ah looked at the pills shaking in the transparent bottle and came up with a good answer.
"Th-the pills..! There aren’t many left, so I thought maybe it’d be better to just finish them..."
"Is that really the reason?"
"Yeah..."
"Whew~ I thought you were rebelling because you didn’t want to have a baby with me."
Whether he was fooled or just pretending to be, it was impossible to tell from Jun-ha’s face.
But one thing was certain: the spark of anger in his heart had been extinguished.
