A week had passed since Pyeon Minhee started sleeping with Officer Park Young-tae.
“…What should I do?”
She was anxious, having made no progress at all.
Even though her body had changed, mentally she was still the same feminist Pyeon Minhee.
No matter how many men she’d experienced, there were still plenty of things in the world she didn’t understand.
‘I thought if I just hung around Seoul City Hall, I’d eventually meet him…’
That was a mistake.
She couldn’t freely enter City Hall, and could only get in at night by clinging to Park Young-tae.
And even then, only as Park Young-tae’s tool for relieving his sexual urges…!
‘…But I can’t just dump Park Young-tae.’
She really didn’t like him, and wanted to cut off his thing right then and there, but…
‘He’s basically my card key for getting into City Hall.’
So she had to keep him around, for now.
But it was also true that she’d gotten nowhere after a whole week.
[Han Ji-young]
‘…I have no choice but to ask for that woman’s help.’
She really didn’t want to use this method, but…
She had no choice.
Ring ring
[…What is it?]
“Hehe, could you… help me out a little?”
[Sigh ]
Crack
A sigh? After all the trouble I’m going through because of you!
“C-come on, don’t be like that…”
[Well, I didn’t really expect you to do it properly anyway.]
“....”
[I was just watching to see how long you’d last, and you actually held out pretty long.]
Tremble tremble
‘This bitch?’
If there was a way, she should’ve told me first before making me do all this work.
Are we even on the same side? Is she picking a fight with me? Is that it?
[Go to the place I tell you tomorrow. Someone will be there to help you.]
“Yes, okay…!”
Pyeon Minhee bit her lip to hold back the curses, so her words came out muffled.
Click
“By the way, why are you…”
‘…She hung up?’
I still had so much to say!
“Aaaargh!”
Mom! That person’s weird!
Shh, just keep walking.
Why are they doing this to me!
‘Is this the place?’
Pyeon Minhee entered a café.
But when she went up to the second floor, there was only one person in the spacious area.
A woman who, like Pyeon Minhee, seemed to have been “saved” by Lee Jinwoo.
“Oh my, are you the one Lee Jinwoo said he’d introduce?”
Jang Minhee.
She was the woman who’d helped Lee Jinwoo a lot in the process of corrupting Yeon Mijin.
With Lee Jinwoo’s help, her relationship with her husband had improved.
Her husband, Jeon Hyukjun, was the chairman of Daewoo Construction.
He was especially patriarchal, but if he liked you, he’d take care of you to the end… that kind of person.
Of course, if you fell below his standards, he’d cut you off without mercy.
In Korea, the relationship between politics and business is a long tradition.
Politicians get financial support from businesspeople.
Businesspeople get legal and regulatory favors from politicians.
A mutually beneficial tradition.
It would be unthinkable for someone like Jeon Hyukjun, chairman of a major conglomerate, to have no political connections.
But the person Lee Jinwoo contacted wasn’t the chairman, but his second wife.
Why would he connect Pyeon Minhee to the wife, not the chairman himself? What kind of power could she wield?
“Uh, nice to meet you…”
Pyeon Minhee didn’t know who she was.
Han Ji-young had only said she’d introduce her, not who it would be…
But the elegance in her actions and gestures was something Pyeon Minhee could never imitate.
She had a talent for instantly assessing if someone was stronger or weaker than her, so she started off deferentially.
“I heard the story. You’re trying to seduce Seoul City Hall, right?”
“Ah, well…”
Her actions were elegant, but her speech was crude.
But Pyeon Minhee didn’t feel the need to argue, so she just agreed.
“Hehe, did you know I used to get a lot of attention from men?”
She didn’t.
‘I don’t even know who you are.’
Pyeon Minhee couldn’t say that out loud, so she just stayed quiet.
“Lots of people liked me… from sons of conglomerate chairmen like my current husband, to highly educated researchers, professionals, politicians…”
In fact, about 20 years ago, Jang Minhee was a superstar.
Winner of world golf championships, a media darling.
With beauty on par with celebrities, she was the #1 ideal woman for men at the time.
But that made her too proud.
She thought her value would last forever, that she’d always be young.
She realized otherwise when the calls from men suddenly dropped off.
She was arrogant, but not stupid, so she hurriedly found someone decent to marry.
But there was no way to avoid accelerating wrinkles, and her husband lost interest in her.
After a few years, just as she was about to give up and look for new love…
Lee Jinwoo appeared.
And the rest is history.
Among the men who’d confessed to her in the past was the current mayor of Seoul.
When she was about to look for new love, she’d reached out to him just in case.
And even after 20 years, his number hadn’t changed!
Of course, after meeting Lee Jinwoo and regaining her youth, she hadn’t contacted him again…
But the important thing was that she could still approach the mayor.
“…I’ll arrange a meeting. A dinner with the mayor.”
“Oh! If you could do that…”
“But… I wonder if just meeting him will be enough…”
A reasonable concern.
Jang Minhee was an awakened superpowered person, thanks to Lee Jinwoo’s blessing.
Pyeon Minhee’s trait, [Fairy Tale Prince], didn’t work on her.
So, to Jang Minhee, Pyeon Minhee was just another pretty woman.
And as the cult’s numbers grew, the number of “pretty women with dark skin” skyrocketed
It could even make people dislike that look.
‘It’s too common now.’
Twenty years ago, she remembered, the current mayor of Seoul was obsessed with collecting rare things that others didn’t have.
Would he really covet a “dark-skinned beauty” that was about to become common?
“Oh, don’t worry about that. If the mayor is just an ordinary person, he won’t be able to resist me.”
“Well, you must have something up your sleeve…”
According to the cult’s research, the current mayor is an ordinary person with no superpowers.
Pyeon Minhee had more than enough ability to capture the mayor.
About a month later
Jang Minhee, Pyeon Minhee, and the mayor of Seoul met together.
“I never thought you’d be the one to ask to see me first, Ms. Minhee… Life is full of surprises.”
“Hehe, this girl really wanted to meet you, Mayor.”
“Ah…”
Disappointment was clear in the mayor’s eyes.
“Ah, hello.”
“Is she… your daughter, Ms. Minhee? She looks just like you.”
“Yes, yes? Of course. Hehe.”
Jang Minhee had already explained her trait to Pyeon Minhee, so she wasn’t flustered.
[Fairy Tale Prince].
A trait that lets you appear as the other person’s ideal type.
It seemed the mayor really was an ordinary person.
The first step was a success.
“But Ms. Minhee, you’re in your mid-40s now… I didn’t expect you to have an adult daughter…”
He was confused. Jang Minhee was officially married in her 30s. How could she have an adult daughter?
“…Did you get pregnant in your 20s?”
“....”
No. Pyeon Minhee only looked like Jang Minhee to the mayor; in reality, she looked very different.
“…I had to keep it a secret back then. And still do.”
“Then why tell me now?”
“…As a mother, even if I couldn’t raise my daughter well, I have to support her love, don’t I?”
“…Love? What does that have to do with me…”
‘No way?’
A sudden thought struck him.
‘The daughter of the woman I loved… loves me?’
What kind of ridiculous situation is this?
Even a drama would be criticized for being so contrived.
Nod
But seeing the “daughter” nod at her “mother’s” words, the mayor felt his mind go blank.
To him, the daughter looked just like the Jang Minhee he’d loved. The current Jang Minhee was still beautiful, but he knew it was the work of the Ja-Ae Cult.
Honestly, he’d been disappointed when he first saw Jang Minhee, but since it wasn’t his business, he let it go.
But the daughter still had the appearance he’d once loved.
“....”
The woman he’d wanted 20 years ago had returned, unchanged.
Still pure, just as she was.
‘I’ll have to postpone my next appointment…’
Whether this was good luck or not remained to be seen.
