I hope his mom was joking. Bro fought for his whole ass life, and the lives of adult soldiers for months. Homie is, at the very least an "adult". Also Silfa is cringe

Eifer

I really hate the parts with all the meddling from both mothers. I find myself skimming them more than actually reading them. Silfa is just shy of being toxic, and that's way too close for me to enjoy it.

Pawaidan

My MIL pushed for us to get married for years, and told my gf don't lose him you won't find someone better lol. And after we visited the first time way back when(they are in a different country) her father cried when I left because he was going miss me.(only for me not her too)

BlackMarch

"My wife's parents really wanted me to marry her" depending on how far north or south in the US that either means they really like you or they have a shotgun lmao i love purposefully misinterpreting things so my mental image is the southern option though im guessing the other is likely the truth

Maakolo

People in the comments dont seem to have experience with mothers like Silfa, lol

Kyfe

To be honest, my MIL is the exact opposite of Silfa, lol. My wife's parents really wanted me to marry her, lol. Her mom's mom, on the other hand, tried to recommend a blind date to my wife the night before our wedding... To be fair, she might have been a little out of it.

BlackMarch

Silfa is vaguely frustrating but you gotta deal with her, TBH a scary accurate mother-in-law portrayal. If I did not make it a point to avoid reading into an author's life from their work I would think Kyfe had an interesting relationship with a MIL at least at the start. But I don't do that so I think no such thing.

BHD

Completely agree. Can barely stand her. Kinda hoping we can see less of her. And then when the tier 6 or whatever kingdom comes she gets put in her place.

travis pancake

Agreed on not being a fan of silfa. I kinda just skim past her at this point. At first she was kinda interesting because it was an antagonist that was attacking from a different angle but it's just not interesting or fun to read about anymore.

Will

I kinda don't like Silfa. At this point she is just being an ass tbh, it feels like a little too much.

Kyfe

Eternal, which he ready has, is an example of one

Quyan640

Would they also be types of time affinities? Similar to how Traveler is a type of space affinity.

On veridical, I think it’s backwards. You needed a bunch of lesser ones to open veridical. As for other affinities, yeah he has been slow with new ones, but I think that’s a depth vs. breadth thing. Currently he has 24 non tier 5 affinities. As of the last affinity update only 6 of those were above expert, and only 4 were before he was training with Kefira. In terms of combat effectiveness it’s better to raise the level of the ones he has now, especially trying to get a few to transcendent before tier 3. Since it’s been about a month. His tier 1 affinities should be about 85-90, his tier 2 affinities should be expert, and tier 3 affinities should be into apprentice levels. Light and Darkness may be above 90 now. So his close to be ready to branch out. One other thing to note is that raising the lesser affinities may help learn tier 3/4 ones faster. His mom described the celestial affinity as a complicated mix of several known affinities + some other stuff. It stands to reason that getting those known affinities to higher levels first would make it easier to unlock higher tier versions (Tier 2 Ice -> Tier 3 Cold is an easy example to think of)

Kyfe

Space/Time is unique. I haven't explained it in story, yet. Reivyn will get more Affinities, he's just not been focused on branching out at the moment. He can accumulate more of the lesser versions of Space and Time

Kyfe

Sure. They would be Tier 4 since they would be more complicated concepts than something like an element.

Ocean Breeze

Do you think he's ever going to learn Space/Time as well as his mother's more esoteric affinities? Towards the beginning of the story it seemed like he was picking up affinities left and right, but that seems to have stopped. Also, I don't know where I got this impression from, but I feel like having Veridical should open the door to all the lesser ones.

Quyan640

Could seasons be a magic affinities? Like spring would represent new life and water/rain; summer is heat, development, and sunshine; autumn is wind and harvest; and winter is cold, decay, darkness/less sunlight, and hibernation.

Kyfe

Yes, that is the correct time. (To be perfectly accurate, the next day in the story is the first day of the third training period).

Derek Walker

I take it timeline wise we are still right around the beginning of his third month training the troops. It was a little unclear if that just happened behind the scenes and we jumped forward a little bit more in time.

Kyfe

Maybe I didn't word it well enough, but he they weren't standing RIGHT there. They were inside the courtyard out of his range of Divine Sense. The yard os fairly large. There are four buildings in like a small, enosed culdesac.

Maakolo

They were probably outside the divine sense range, and their hearing is good enough.

ZaA

Man, the silly cliches are the only thing hurting this story from me. Has a bubble around him thats like.. 30-40 feet round at this point, and "turns around" to his mother and father being right there. Ah, yes, very useful skill and training if he isn't ready at all times and can even ignore his divine sense. Not saying funny things can't happen, but in that case it doesn't make sense. something like 'as the words were leaving his mouth, it was already too late. His mother entered his range of sense and he knew she'd heard him...' Her just being right behind him makes Reivyn look like an idiot. He can't just ignore divine sense, he was nearly crippled by the information it gives him and has to readjust on level-ups. It's a part of the character now

Weapons master has to be skyrocketing in levels from all of this (well relatively speaking for a master level skill already). Plus studying the Arsenal should be able help him find the tier 4 versions of the class skills he was learning two chapters ago. Still, with his affinity levels getting so high, I hope he can see Rupert before he goes and maybe learn a little more about the Veridical affinity. I think that along with using true mana, potentially infusing his weapons with it, will be devastating somehow

Ocean Breeze

Wooo!
