He'll unify it all as into one fighting style when he becomes a "one man army". Just wait, there seems to be more like with a domain, and some type of aura as we've seen other high tiers use previously. I'm wondering if Reivyn will use his body as a shell for a spell after he gets his affinity up...

Derek Walker

I think it’s been clear in the progression of his skills that reivyn has begun unifying a lot of concepts. First with weapons master, then with elemental weapon incorporating his affinities, then with divine sense building on his perception abilities, to now reivyn learning stamina skills and using his knowledge of all weapons to generalize those skills. It will take quite a while to keep combining even more stuff, but I think his tier 3 class, which will be a hybrid class will provide a lot of assistance. Saying all of that, reivyn will always have two separate combat styles. There is the one like how fought with Refix, close combat hybrid, but his current class and Ameliyns training will also make him something of an artillery caster lol. Those only merge in the sense that reivyn becomes “the army”

I hope kyfe sees this. Reivyn developing his combat skills to the point they create a unified combat art would be an amazing way to hype the climax to an arc. Doesn't have to happen anytime soon, obv. it would also make it much easier to visualize his fights if we have a single combat art we can imagine him using, instead a hodgepodge of collected skills (not that he's not currently badass)

Derek Walker

A limit as in a level cap? As far we know, there is no level limit per se. Like all things, there may be a natural talent cap specific to each individual person. This is also true of general skills in a way. However, there is no transcendence like threshold for general class skills

Schmidt

is there a limit on General Class skills? We havent seen the boxes for class/ general class skills in a while

Kyfe

It goes Class Skill > General Class Skill (or Martial/Caster Class Skill) > General Skill. Learning how to manually activate a Class Skill makes it so you can put it in any Class slot (or any Martial/Caster Class slot). One has to figure out more about their Skill to make it a General Skill Most people don't learn yo recognize how their Stamina works like Reivyn did until late Tier 4. Reivyn learned by forcing Charge against the Hard Mode Boss

deus vult

could he evolve it to something like, ceaseless onslaught or something by lowering the stamina requirement? or maybe he could later adjust the output so it could sometimes hit harder and sometimes not? because there's nothing's stopping him to just keep going or not? if he had enough stamina or the skill cost being a variable he could just keep attacking but slightly faster? I wonder if he could unlock/created a weapon technique or fighting style if he also adds stuff like stances and defensive actions... merging several skills into one...

deus vult

what tier is his skill? and if he activated it manually before he even got it in his class, why is it not a general skill? like, the class is not helping him in any way? honestly, the system's most valuable if you use it mostly for learning. it enhances the speed in which you learn new things, and by automating other stuff for you, allows you to comprehend stuff you normally wouldn't understand. it's probably much easier to understand class skills with the energy regularily coarsing through your body. if the casual practice won't be to turn class skills to general skills I'd be disappointed. especially for higher tiers and levels. where you lose those skills and gain other classes and skills. because I think a system that is mostly acting as a learning tool/guide/teacher rather than a central part of your life and most of your power is much better than, let's say, a normal rpg system where you just have to fight to gain levels. then you gain skills with no logic or much sense to 'em. not that there's anything wrong with that, I mean.

ParadoxMike

I really want an update pov from emperor or empress. With the info that refix has a transcendent skill and only 36 on top of revyn, his sisters, it would be fun to know what they are thinking

Derek Walker

Going one step further, if the traveller affinity is high enough he can just rain down arrows that bypass shields and defenses lol. Tier 5 reivyn will be a one man army.

Kyfe

The biggest difference between a Class Skill and a General Skill is the scope. Class Skills are super specialized actions, and General Skills affect a huge range of potential actions. Take Charge for example. As a Class Skill, it is literally nothing more than breaking the maximum speed by a percentage in a specific direction for a specific distance. As a General Skill, it would be much more versatile, and one of the reasons Reivyn hasn't unlocked it as such, yet.

Carl Mason

In that vein, it would make sense for the multi cast skill to subsume the dual cast skill and have its level rise to some median level. Or also, as is apparently the case, to keep the skill around until their levels are nearer and THEN subsume the lower cast skill. But you are right, I don't understand the relevance to class/general skill handling. I guess wait and see?

BigFun

Multi-strike combined with elemental weapon would be pretty bad ass. Taken a step beyond and combined with Refix's changing damage type at will in addition would be great. Combine both of those with a ranged weapon and you can get comedic levels ass whooping. 100 yards away, an empowered arrow that deals a dozen strikes worth of surprise crushing damage and various flavors of burning or electricity... oh yeah. Or the always popular war fan, quick little flick of the wrist and the jackwagon of the day gets their clothing shredded off with a dozen invisible blades of slashing damage and they get to make a non-standard walk of shame home after their whoopin...

usa1ph

This was a beautiful simple chapter. Very little plot but delicious rpg goodness. Bravo!

Derek Walker

Maybe? If something like that exists I would imagine it would be something like weapons master, where the achievement is just condensing the skills into a more versatile general skill. At least for weapons, I don't know what affinities would look like, maybe a bonus to leveling or another method to unlocking the veridical affinity.

Quyan640

No, I mention like having a hundred affinity; water, ice, wind, fire, space, etc. Or if the weapon master skill didn’t exist, 100 weapon skills. I wonder if that’ll warrant an achievement.

Derek Walker

I’m not sure how this relates to general vs class skills but it makes sense to keep double cast around while having multi cast since double cast was so much higher. (You can imagine a low level multicast not functionally being better than double cast if it takes to long to form more than 2 spells at once) here he picked up multistrike while double strike was still very low level so it made since for the skills to merge.

Derek Walker

I was wondering the same thing, but it looks like the skill has to be at least 2 tiers above you. So flame blade was tier 3 which he got at tier 1, so he got an achievement. These skills are tier 3 and he got them at tier 2, so no achievement.

Quyan640

Is there an achievement for acquiring a certain number of skills and/or those of a certain type? Maybe 100 could be the first milestone. Similarly, 100 martial skills.

Ihsan Gunay

Yeah Kyfe, it doesn’t make sense to me. I had commented before about how all the other general skill that had overlap have at least nuances. They don’t just subsume the other skill. Whatever the level of multi cast, the lower number of casts, like two in this case, would be easier. Skills already have built in nuances depending on how they were leveled. The weapon master skill was much better at handling swords than fists because Reivyn hadn’t had as much experience with fists. Maybe take note of this to talk with your editor when you publish. At the end of the day your system, your choice. It just bothers me because I don’t get it.

Kyfe

It's just the System handles them differently. If you'll notice, surpassing Level 100 in Class Skills doesn't make it Transcendent like a General Skill. The Double Cast Skill still affects his Multi-Cast Skill to an extent, and once they're closer together in Level, it'll get subsumed.

mr. redd

Eye see………

Carl Mason

Is that important? Especially with the way he did it, it should have been a skill evolution rather than unlocking different skills. Shouldn't it? Am i getting into less minor spoiler territory, asking about the difference between general skills and class skills?

Kyfe

Minor spoiler, it will eventually. The difference is his Casting Skills are General, and this is a Class Skill.

Ihsan Gunay

I think just like how double strike skill experience converted to multi strike skill experience, double cast should have been consumed by multi cast.

Aezy Ken

I'm not sure but the dialogue has been feeling a little stilted to me. It could be a result of over-correcting cuz of readers complaining which is unfortunate. Dialogue feels like it's talking to the readers, not to the actual characters. Fuck the readers, they complain more than I've seen in other stories. Not everything needs to be spelled out to the most minute detail. Some criticism is of course valid and can be used to improve writing but not all. Readers should learn to read between the lines.

Kyfe

Health. It also accelerates recovering from injuries outside of just the numbers.

Derek Walker

Does regeneration increase his stamina recovery, or just his health recovery? Thinking he may have gotten a few levels there from this if so lol

Derek Walker

It may be possible, but presumably Refix had a similar skill at tier 3/4 but couldn’t change the strike direction until he reached transcendence (though maybe I am confusing skills here) so with weapons master it may come sooner, or it could be after transcendence as well. Also makes me wonder if like level 90 acts as a transcendence threshold or if it really is 100. Reivyn has consistently been about 10-15 level “ahead” of his actual skill level so maybe when he learns this skill will be quicker.

Heidi16

I think everyone on here would love the movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad Pitt's character reminds me of Refix.

David Bean

I actually meant the one where you can’t block/tell where his strike is coming from, but I think you may be on to something. His weapon arsenal skill might be even easier to create with this new skill as the base.

Derek Walker

I think this is the tier 4/tier 5 version of the skills. Right now it seems one weapon is going multiple strikes, the next step is to create actual multiple weapons. I imagine that will take some more time.

David Bean

Awesome. I bet that can still be evolved into all kinds of useful attacks. I wonder if it could help create a version of that attack Refix does, since the other attacks aren’t actually his arm, leg or weapon it might be possible to make them invisible. Not quite the same, but certainly effective.
