It’s a story about a soldier who got isekaid. What do you expect?

I believe it was chapter 121 that it was confirmed that his parents got the news. A few chapters before that, 118 I think, he got those class upgrades and had his academy enrollment changed from his tier 1 region to Keiras tier 4 region. That gave a system notification to the headmaster of the academy he was originally in, which included the name of the academy he got moved to. This information was addressed to his parents.

I was a little confused as to the timeline on this part of the story. When did they find out about where he was located and how. Just needs a bit of clarification. Good way to show the invasion being much larger than just a couple zones though.

I'm starting to lose hope that this war arc will end soon. I don't like anything about this. Military discipline or idiot nobles that kill their people and are still congratulated for good job. But I tought that it will be short arc. Now it goes more than any before it. And we enter real war. I'm waiting for the end of the month and hoping that this story will become adventure again.

Hah. Thanks, and thanks for the chapter. Just realised all I did was blabber and didn't thank you.

Reivyn is in a Tier 3 kingdom that is a vassal of a Tier 4 empire. There are only teleports between Tier 4 empire capital cities. All other travel has to be done by foot

Also, without going back and reading I don't know the answer. So this is a question. Refiix and the others were traveling to the Wispan region. A teleport pad that connects to a whole different sector/region wouldn't be in the empire Reivyn is in would it? Authors always make me suspicious when they use generic names like 'the Capitol'. It feels like we will make a bunch of comment, and next chapter he will reveal its a Capitol of a completely different empire and the invasion happened six weeks before ... or something along those lines. Just my two cents on that subject. Oh and I still don't think its forced.

I believe I may have mentioned this before. But everything in a story happens because 'the author needs it to happen'. And in this case I don't even agree that the flow is choppy. This is an action/adventure/fantasy story. Of course there will be random and unlooked for action sequences that seem to spawn from nowhere. Do the James Bond movies not seem to be 'convenient to the MC'? But they are still world renowned examples of both great movies, and great stories. Hmm, I didn't mean to preach, it is just that this particular gripe always annoys me most. After all, 'the author needs it to happen' is why we have the stories we love to read, trying to use it as a complaint...

The issue as I see it is that the portal wasn't destroyed yet, so it seems like there was still a window for soldiers or people to flee when it first activated. If there was really no one left to flee, then it should have been uncontested for the invaders to take control of the portal and destroy it earlier. Perhaps they DID already have control of the portal and it just takes time to destroy it (even though Reivyn seemed to do it pretty quick and he was just one person), but that just makes the coincidences add up. Anyway, like I said, it's not a big deal, but it just feels off. Either there are several coincidences piled on together to make it feel very improbable, or it feels incongruous. If it's very important that there were no defenders fleeing through at the last minute, then I guess that's fine. It just seems like that little detail could make it feel a lot more believable while not substantially changing the outcome.

There are anywhere from 10-30 different connections between empires. Just like how there is friction between some empires, there are some that are closer to each other for various reasons, like complimentary resources and marriage. Who said word didn't get out to somewhere else? Just because there wasn't word to the place Refix and Co were doesn't mean there wasn't word spread elsewhere. And the people who fled through the portal did so earlier to a different connection.

As a few other commenters have pointed out, this development feels a little forced. When reading the chapter I initially felt like something was off and it felt unnatural. Later I realized that it felt unnatural because I can't imagine the sequence of events playing out like it did. To start, it is extremely improbable and coincidental that the teleporter was destroyed right as Reivyn's family was going through. However, I think that wasn't the main issue, as improbable events happen with some regularity in novels. What really feels off to me is how sudden it was and some incongruities in the plot. How was there no word ahead of time? Was the invasion so fast that they conquered the capital entirely in the one day between the teleport becoming active? But if that's the case, why would the invaders wait for it to activate before destroying it? Plus, the invaders were still fighting when Refix came out. Thus, we have to assume that the invasion was ongoing when the teleporter activated. Perhaps the invasion started after the previous activation on the prior day and was just wrapping up when the teleported activated again, but then why would no citizens try to escape through when it activated? The author mentioned that if a single person stood in the circle without a parchment, the circle wouldn't activate. This seems like a rather heavy-handed way to close the plot hole and have Refix et al unaware. It's plausible that in the chaos of the invasion that people would just steal the parchments and go, but maybe there was a jam of people? As mentioned previously, we have to assume that the invaders did not yet have control of the teleporter or they would have destroyed it earlier, so it seems like at the very least the administrator of the portal could have just tossed parchments at everyone and skedaddled. It's not exactly a plot hole because the author DID provide an explanation, but it just felt very thin to me and not that believable. In the grand scheme of things, it's a rather minor issue, but something that probably could be cleaned up a bit. Like maybe some citizens did escape through the portal just as it was activating, but Refix and Ameliyn decide to go through anyway because they are worried about Reivyn. Same result, just slightly more believable.

This scene seems weird to me: "Refix didn't panic, and he gathered his Mana and Stamina, weaving them together in a complicated knot that Reivyn had never even considered possible before" It is very awkward to reference Reivyn here, makes it seem like Reivyn is in the scene.

Tftc! I hope you bought them some honey sticks! They're always my favorite
