Kyfe

Lol, to be perfectly honest, I hadn't even thought about it until I had them in the same scene together. I really didn't plan to have two people with such similar names together at the exact same time, and right next to each other.

Jonathan Robichaux

Look. It took me long enough to realize it's raven and talon. You can drop Jake and jackal on me AT THE END

Derek Walker

Last time I remember seeing something, ch. 60, charge was still just a general class skill, not a general skill.

BerciTheBeast

I think Charge is the only one so far.

Derek Walker

I think there are 3 levels here which are class skill -> general class skill -> general skill. In the first, you can only use your class to activate the skill. In the second, you still have the skill regardless of class but it still takes up a class slot, see flame blade. Finally, one can try to migrate it over to a general skill where it does not take up any class skill slots at all. I do not know if he has done this with any skill yet. I thought maybe he had done this with elemental weapon, but I do not think so.

Derun

From chapter 15 on activating class skills: "It's no big secret or anything," Brace continued. "You just have to invoke it. Mentally summoning the will to perform the Skill will initiate it, and the System will pretty much take over for a moment and have you perform the action. For newbies like you, it helps to shout it out to get the feeling of invocation right, but it's not necessary, and there are some people who never practice and have to use the shouting method as a crutch forever. There's more than one person who will suck in a deep breath, gather their will, point to the sky, and heroically shout... 'Big Step!'"

Derun

Chapter 49 is the first time he got a class skill to become available regardless of class: Achievement! Manually activate one of your Class Skills. Charge is permanently available to you regardless of Class. What does it mean to manually activate a class skill? I think that's where the understanding of the skill on a fundamental level comes in. Most people activate class skills by relying on system assistance (e.g. say name of skill to activate). Edit to add: technically he manually activated the skill in chapter 48, but the achievement copied above is from chapter 49.

Frardowin

Oh OK. That makes sense now.

Derek Walker

So it’s not every 100 levels he gets the bonus, it’s every level after 100. So with the bonus I gave, after the remaining 80 levels in tier 3 he’ll get +800 all stats and + 240 LUK/CHA going into tier 4

Frardowin

That seems small for a per 100 level gain, I am expecting hundreds of attributes at level 100 tbh

Derek Walker

I am hoping for something like at least +10/+3 LUK & CHAR. +3 everything would be a little on the small sign considering he gets the boost so late, and the requirements to upgrade to Level 2 are massive.

Frardowin

Ok, I was thinking he has to hit an actual multiple of 100 not cumulative. So a bit better. But geebus man, that boost will be freaking massive.

Derek Walker

yes, so going from tier 3 level 10 -> 11 will be the first time he sees a per level stat gain.

Frardowin

To clarify: he needs to hit level 100 to get the leveling attribute bonus for his bloodline right?

Pawaidan

Well I will say it sucks no chapter on Sunday, but he did say he had an emergency if we lose a chapter once in a while it's not the end of the world. Hope everything calms down and your doing well.

BerciTheBeast

If I remember correctly he is close to unlocking it, but has yet to do so or something like that.

BerciTheBeast

I'm sorry if this is available somewhere publically, but I have not managed to find it yet :/ What are the conditions for a Class Skill to become a General Skill? All I've been able to find is "You're supposed to have to understand the Skill on a fundamental level to unlock it as a general Class Skill" from way back in chapter 72, but I can't seem to find any more detailed information anywhere. Also, is there a discord or something where I could post potential further questions to?

Grish99

I'm 99 % sure it was said that's he don't have bloodline but he was born really close to having one

Lommel

> , the dad don't have bloodline Yes he does! He would have been unable to be where he is, from all we know thus far including direct statements a good bloodline is *required* to be(come) top tier. It also was mentioned in a conversation between parents and MC that his bloodline is much stronger than that of either one of his parents. They already noticed that.

Jeff Gaebler

Cough....third chappy didn't make it on Sunday.....

Grish99

That's not necessary true reivyn mom probably have just "good" bloodline on par with winspan, the dad don't have bloodline, I don't think if it was ever mentioned that reivyn sisters unlocked their bloodline. Mc just a freak with mutated bloodline

Also their family bloodline seems to be a massive tier higher than theirs might help a bit.

Heidi16

Nicholas Pankratz, that's a great point! It is going to be fun to read that.

Frardowin

Considering he had an epic class in tier 1, and that he would have had on even without the force conscription, then add in the fact that both of his sisters have epic starting classes, it really isn't a contest.

Kyfe

It has been taken into consideration.

alex bozdog

I am not saying that he should be rushing off somewhere, but he could let Fira know and maybe have some of her people on the lookout. It wouldn't even take much time or effort since she must have some information network watching the teleporters a few kingdoms out adding a few people to the list is not a bother.

Nicholas Pankratz

I’m kind of waiting for the battle between Kefira’s and Reivyn’s moms, each sizing up the other kid and seeing if they’re “good enough” for their babies. And then arguing with each other over whose baby is better and then bonding over their shared love for their children

Derek Walker

Well it happened during the middle of the war, so he may have forgotten about the notification. Also, even if did figure it out all the more reason to just stay around wispan and not rush back.

alex bozdog

I am also really surprised that Reivyn didn't put it together thathis parents might be on the way when they were explaining about followers. Hehas to at least question that the T1 academy got the same notification and that his parents now know

Trasen56

Bro the nezt arc is gonna be awesome, he'll learn more from the new academy, deal with court intrigue, and (probably towarss the end) we'll get the reuinion with his family (and possibly friends, I don't remember if Teilon amd Kimberly came with his family).

alex bozdog

Reivyn doesn't need the to lock up his soul, this is most likely due to the fact that his blood line has 5 times the thresholds, otherwise he would also have had the same problem

Derek Walker

Yes, he probably does. When Kefira mentioned unlocking her soul, it was a reference to taking the amulet off, as in her soul was born unlocked and her family sealed it. In general I don’t think there is an “unlocking the soul” step/or achievement. The closest we’ve seen was when reivyn had his soul balanced to unlock his bloodline

Jon

Do we know if he has unlocked Soul yet?

Lommel

Why would he not join his (future) wife's court, especially since he needed that extremely attractive forced class change? Also, it's not like it's a slave contract. If he does not siphon (to bloodline) he will get another class change in eleven levels, and he can go wherever he wants, whenever. I think this is nitpicking. I don't expect high levels of consistency from progression fantasy anyway, and this is not even a big deal and all that unbelievable in the given context compared to a *lot* of other stuff in any of these kinds of novels. Sometimes I think I'm in the Amazon.com review section when reading these comments...

For being a stranger in a strange land, faraway from home, Reivyn is strangely nonchalant about joining some foreign military and becoming the bitch in some foreign imperial court.

Stephen Pearson

Thanks for the chapters! :-)

Derek Walker

Will it come up later what threshold his moms bloodline is or is that something you can share now?

Simon

The way I understood it is that he simply got the bonus stats for 100 levels as an advance.

Kyfe

Tier 3 Level 11 is the first time he'll see a per-Level Stat bonus. Once he reaches Bloodline Level 2, that bonus will increase retroactively to cumulative Level 1.

Derek Walker

Final question, one on retroactivity. When he gets to tier 3 level 10, is there any retroactivity in stat gains, or is just per level going forward, and then upgrades are retroactive back to tier 3 level 10?

Kyfe

Since we're on the topic, and it won't be revealed in the text for a long time just because that's how it works out (but it's not super secret or anything), only the process of unlocking it has bonus thresholds. Leveling it up only increases the per-Level Stat bonuses, retroactively.

Derek Walker

To follow up on this a little more. I assume this scales for levels of the bloodline right? So assuming it takes another 100 thresholds to get to level 2 for his bloodline, he would need 200 total levels to get the level 2 stat gains?

alex bozdog

That also seems a bit unclear to me. Does this mean that his bloodline that needs 10Billion to level has 100 levels? or that the gains work a different way? From the sound of it it looks like he will be receiving help in getting at least to level 2 of the bloodline before Tier 3

Derek Walker

The longstanding mystery has been answered. Thank you!

Kyfe

That's exactly how it works. Most people never notice it because they're way past Level 5-20 before they unlock their Bloodlines. Also, Kefira extrapolated the question Reivyn wanted to ask based on him saying he would like to know a bit more about it and mentioning he hadn't gotten any per-Level bonuses yet. And to clarify further, weak Bloodlines, like the ones with 1-5 thresholds, don't need anything other than time to unlock. More powerful Bloodlines, relatively, require a lot less natural treasures (or in someone like Reivyn, Experience) to unlock. Not only are there less checkpoints, the requirements are less, too. If Reivyn had had an equivalent Bloodline as Kefira and her family, it would have been 20k/threshold with 20 thresholds instead of 100k/per with 100.

Disclancer

Yeah, this had confused me too. Do the bloodline thresholds in essense give out the level up rewards early then? So until he reaches 100 cumulative levels (Tier 3 Lvl 10) he won't get any bonus level up rewards?

SodaBoBomb

Thanks for the chapters! You write their flirting well and I'm super looking forward to this next arc. You might want to go back through this chapter when you get a chance and things are less hectic, it has more minor spelling errors than you usually put out. Small stuff, nothing crazy, but worth a proofreading pass.

Derek Walker

""To answer your question," she said in her normal volume. "Each threshold corresponds to a Level." She leaned away from him and gave him a serious look." What question was Reivyn asking here? It's a little unclear what the relationship between levels and thresholds are? The level can't be the level of the bloodline?
