Kyfe

No, that's not what happened. I can tell you what it is if you want to know, but it's not anything that affects him in any tangible way.

Eifer

**He felt the kiss that she blew as if she had planted her lips directly on him, and something else seemed to settle in his mind, but he was unable to pinpoint it after just a moment.** Mind fuckery too? Oh come on.. That shit is just disgusting on so many levels.

SwiftFate

Of course it's a tracking spell.. Ugh, hate characters like this. She's the worst kind of 'love interest'.

Ah, a detail I missed. I honestly really like the depth of character you put into Aeriella, though I know shes a problem for the MC :P

Kyfe

Ahh. I misread, lol. Rayha wasn't body jacked. The control of the Runic Spell was what shot over to her. She was Aeriella from the very beginning, just using a high tier magical disguise. A hint to the fact the girl who was killed wasn't Aeriella was that it was an actual pink plume attached to her helmet and she had blonde hair.

I saw that, I meant when the spell hit Rayha and she transformed into Aeriella "He watched, stunned, as the ball of magic didn't do any harm, but instead entered Rayha's body. Everyone else, likewise, turned to watch the scene unfold, and her body began to shift subtly. She slowly grew a couple of inches taller, reaching Reivyn's chin, and her hair turned a shade of pink that matched the plume from the helmet worn by the girl Reivyn had assumed had been Aeriella. Rayha's facial features remained mostly the same, but they became slightly more symmetrical. She shifted into a more beautiful girl. Before, she had been what Reivyn would consider cute, but now she had a different air about her. One of more maturity and authority. She stood tall and straight, her chin lifted high as the Runic Magic settled within her chest. Likewise, the Runic Ball surrounding the Spider Matriarch reached a crescendo in condensing and suddenly seemed to wink out of existence, but Reivyn could still feel the immense power of it in the distance. Reivyn Sensed it moving, and a shining, golden ball screamed across the open air to arrive right in front of Aeriella."

Kyfe

I replied in another comment, but just to allay fears about what's going on, it's a tracking Spell. The only reason it was in his head is because Aeriella attached it to a trick to literally blow him a kiss.

Is literally no one going to be worried that Rayha just got body jacked and how/what does that mean for the rest of them?????? Like was she a plant meant to be there for the body jack??

Andrew Webb

Not saying she can't be a future love/friend interest, just saying it would require a ton of author effort on backstory and personality development scenarios before it would feel believable. I had thought she would be written as a girl who was bubbly when very young but had it beaten out of her through cold upbringing in a deadly royal court, but it sure doesnt read that way. Currently her bubbliness either feels like a facade, or she genuinely has a scary lack of empathy.

BHD

Not to mention the cost in lives from the spiders that come out from the depths. Hard to argue she isn’t uncaring of human lives if they get in the way of her plans. Not exactly what anyone would ever consider a good person.

Steven Vollmert

Exactly. I have no problem with her character. But it seems like she will be a love interest and I don't see Reyvin ever overlooking these aspects and liking her. Even more so with her sacrificing someone just so she can play flamedancer...

Andrew Webb

Even if we ignore the whole enslaving of civilians thing (and don't tell me an army 'temporarily' captures a huge number of civilians without instances of rape and pillage), my big issue is the deaths of all the soldiers and volunteers who defended those cities and the troops that went to stop the invasion. ALSO, if the defending army wasn't there to clean up the mess that dungeon break would kill a bunch of civilians. Miss Pink is in the command structure of those responsible, she doesn't get to say "I didn't order that, AND I am not going to punish anyone for it or make amends". Imagine the three of them in a relationship down the line, being like "hey, remember that time you intentionally caused a natural disaster that killed a bunch of my people? That was crazy! But it's okay because you're hot and manic". Also, the whole "soldiers die in war, so Reivyn shouldn't hold the death of his men against her" argument isn't great since there is a clear agressor in this case, there is no complicated issue where both sides are in the right.

Aezy Ken

He hasn't ignored how little she cares for her people, to spend their lives without thought and to deliberately murder one for "annoying" her even when they were trying to help.

Robert Apgar

Well not even just that, I dont think it is ever clearly stated that he infused his eyes with Abyss mana and watched anyone from this army? (it has been too long and I can only remember This mention: So that vertical stroke is a "1," Reivyn thought. Where have I heard of something similar? Reivyn tapped his chin in thought. A passing rumor that one of his friends had mentioned in the Magic Academy crossed his mind. Is the practice of branding more common than I thought, or are they connected? And if they're connected across more than ten million miles... Reivyn could only imagine the implications if that was the case.) Not scanning everyone he meets for what system they are using if and when he gets strong enough to do so, is just not being insanely paranoid, but does he ever feel their mana being Abyssal?

SodaBoBomb

Do much? He shouldn't be able to do ANYTHING. Dudes still Tier 2.

Kyfe

Hint: He didn't have to scan Galwit to realize there was something fishy going on with his Mana.

Kyfe

Three points: Aeriella didn't know about the lizaldon settlement (they were going off of something other than scouting to know about the spider). It was never her intention to enslave the populace, though she didn't care too much about temporarily forcing them to do what she wanted after it had already happened. Lastly, Reivyn doesn't have a prejudice against the Abyss, per se, he just wouldn't want a Realm war to break out between them.

Steven Vollmert

Yes they are fine, but not because of the enemy army. They had to have at least scouted the lair to know that the spider is there, so they were fine with killing the lizardman and only Kefiras action of warning them beforehand saved them.

Robert Apgar

Well the lizard people that are sapient are fine. The rest is a bit ambiguous on purpose. The thing he should hate the most is how little she cares for her troops.

Steven Vollmert

Good that our MC has such outstanding morals... He just ignores that the enemy commander was fine with exterminating a whole race of lizardman and enslaving whole cities. Not to even mention whats going on with the enemie army. Seems like someone you don't find apprehensive. Not to mention the likely connection to the Abbys. I always thought that with his influence from modern morals he would hate such people.

Game Devil

Bad, bad vibes from this one. I've always hated huggers and this once more confirms they can't be trusted, especially the pink ones Clingy is bad, pink, uppity clingers are the pits :) The Tier 6 doesn't surprise me a bit though since she was going after T7 spiders. Too bad she'll be back.

Robert Apgar

Good news, Goth GF is pretty cool, she even decided not to abduct Reivyn. Bad news Reivyn never scanned her for abyss mana or anything of the sort. All the enemies are just implied to be from the abyss. Which leaves the possibility open that all his assumptions were wrong since the invasion force was actually team pokeball.

Robert Apgar

They had assumptions, and they were reasonable. Getting close enough to interfere would have been a huge risk that they didn't need to take.

Kyfe

It was the portals.

Nick Nicholson

When he said he sensed “just as powerful mana fluctuations” did he mean from the portals or from the people coming through?

George Hicken

If they disrupted the ritual once the Matriarch was out they’d likely have to fight a T7 monster. Not obvious which way would be a better choice.

Emby

Shocking. Bring on the chapter dump, glad internets back.

Obran

If I remember correctly there are temporary settlements in tier 5 and 6 regions and people still adventure there. The region is just too dangerous for big civilizations to grow. Also I can imagine that in a society which bases social position on the tier of the region a person was born in, that important (or rich) people in tier 4 kingdoms, hire teams of high tier adventurers to escort pregnant royalty or important nobles to a high tier region, protect them while they give birth, then bring the child back to the real kingdom.

Igloo15

Exactly on the unreliable narrators… just because ppl in a T1 zone only know about T4 doesn’t mean T5+ doesn’t exists… just that they only know about T4… like ppl in Europe would know all about the counties around them but wouldn’t know about Australia (way back in the day).

Knightfire

In the Abyss it might be different

Nick Nicholson

Come on dude…

Tristan R Mitchell

Yes...I thought it was rather obvious? The Enemy Commander is one of the few people to flirt with our MC, and dancer chick flirted in exactly the same way.

Greg Szarko

Wait, so, dancer chick was really the Enemy commander?

Derek Walker

I wonder if it’s just his parents were never told about, but the once one becomes a sovereign, they are in “on the know”, at least for tier 4 regions. The existence of a tier 6 empire, and a hostile one at that suggests there is absolutely nothing Reivyn’s allies can do, as the gap between tier 4 and 6 has to be immense. For example, The new guy who showed up has to be at least around Refix level in strength, if not in level. (As in more levels than Refix since the classes may not be as rare) There probably have to be a few dozen people like him back in the empire at least, with almost assuredly a few tier 7s. With that kind of firepower Reivyn won’t get similar support from wispan, except for like future Kefira. So something may have to give

lenkite

Reivyn was busy eating [Popcorn 🍿] and slacking around watching other folk battle.

Aezy Ken

The brand indicates what Tier region/city/kingdom they were born in. She was born in a T6, she herself is currently T4. Also we have unreliable narrators. This realm/world is extremely huge, they dunno all the empires. It looks like Reivyns parents were misinformed about the highest tier kingdoms.

Tristan R Mitchell

I wonder, does that six mean she was born in a T6 region, or that her parents were T6? Because the highest level regions with permanent population are T4, hence the whole "T4 Empires" thing, and there is only historical records of cities in T5 and T6 regions. There are, of course, no records of cities in T7 or T8 regions.

Aezy Ken

That's the problem with kingdoms like hers. They limit mobility and opportunities for talented people. She was praised to be the most talented or whatever but what about the countless ppl below her that never got a chance? Granted in this setting royalty gets an incredible advantage.

Derek Walker

The only thing that seems off is how passive Kefira and Reivyn seemed to be. Ultimately they wouldn’t have been able to stop the ritual given what we saw at the end, but both are mages with utterly destructive spells. It seems plausible they could’ve at least tried bombing “Aeriella” and her mages to disrupt their part in the ritual. I’m also surprised reivyn didn’t try to get any closer to see what deconstruct could do. This is likely tier 7 so he wouldn’t have been able to do much, but the man snuck into the enemy camp alone to disrupt mere reinforcements. At the edge of completing the ritual seems the risk would’ve been something he would take.

Aezy Ken

She is not T6, she was born in a T6 kingdom. They don't just pop out the womb as a T6. Ch131" but that was also a punch in the gut. She was Tier 4, and he wasn't even half-way through Tier 2!". She's T4. At least from what we've seen so far, she isn't much more promising than Kefira. She also obviously isn't very skilled because in Melee, Reivyn was better, and in magic he matched her skill. She's also sorta unhinged dude.

Derek Walker

I think it’s implied that she’s not in the same level as Kefira, much less Reivyn, talent wise. (At least a step below Kefira) Either one with equal stats would have mopped the floor with her and they have like probably around 5ish years on her. So the gap would only grow in time.

alex bozdog

This might be an unpopular opinion but I kinda hope he ends up with Aeriella, she was literally a trainee who's probably within 5-6 years of his age ( and his mental age is like 21 right now) who was doing the job her Master (trainer) gave her, she forced the people to work for her but fact is the people who did the work probably ended up with quite the bonus for it in XP and skills, it was pretty similar to Reyvin's "recruitment" and to be fair she's T6 and probably very skilled if she's important and from a T6 kingdom so like Kefira she'll keep up with his insane power and skill somewhat
