Agree 100% with Mike. To blame Josh 100% for the game is to divest any sort of knowledge found in the first several books, or the facts of what occurred there. Yes, Josh originally broached the game with Kimmy, but one mustn't forget that the game didn't get started until after Kimmy had already cheated on Josh in the car, cheated on him at the hotel (where, remember, Josh had a mental breakdown and cried himself near insensate because he thought she might be cheating) and also cheated during the party she threw for Josh after feeling so guilty for what she did at the hotel. Josh's dark desires and request for the game were a direct response to those actions by Kimmy. The game as it unfolded doesn't exist if Kimmy doesn't cheat in those circumstances because those incidents are what leads Josh to the knowledge of his own darkness.
