Ch. 10: Preview #2

Watching them drive away hit him almost like a physical pain in his chest, of longing. Last night had been that good. Out of this world.
He’d actually managed to forget about Jen these last twelve hours. But, home again, his distress started creeping back in. His daughter was as likely to be nice to him as to make his life absolute hell. There was no predicting anymore.
For ten minutes he stared out the window much more than he did chores – so he saw her the very moment she appeared down the street. A gust of air left his lungs. Wow she was fit. Fast. Hale. Robust. And a dozen more lecherous adjectives. Sweat glistened all over her fleshed-out physique as she stopped just a few feet outside and checked her watch. Boy, he was staring now …
She bustled into the house, full of energy, larger than life. Intoxicating. You’d think his libido would be exhausted after last night; but if anything, it’d put him into that state of mind even more.
A loud, satisfied “Whew!” A hearty chug of water. Hands running animatedly through her hair. Then green eyes zipping down to him. “Oh, hey there! Already started, I see.”
“S-Started what?” Staring? Ogling?
“Chores.”
“Oh.” He had the duster in hand. “Yeah.”
This earned him an abrupt, jarring tousle of his hair. “Did my lil’ Cassanova have fun last night?”
Oh god. He blushed hard.
Jen choked back a laugh. She could’ve done without hearing him get plowed last night, but she was a mature adult and had gotten well over it by now. Of course he’d be embarrassed though. “Hey, I trust Alice and Brandi to treat you right; and besides, you had my full permission. Nothin’ to be shy about. I hope you guys had a good time.”
Theo felt his cheeks heat further. It was difficult to talk about sex with someone so alluring herself. Her body, her breasts, so close … “Thanks.”
Jen noticed he was even more fidgety than usual. Lol, probably grossed out that she was sweating buckets. Feeling spunky after her jog, she toyed with him a bit by using his shoulder for stability as she stretched her quads. And how he squirmed! “You eat yet?” she bantered, ‘accidentally’ brushing her sweaty hip into his side.
He murmured a negative, wriggling like a snake under her hand. She had to fight to hide her amusement.
“Well, you better eat somethin’. Big day ahead.” She did some back twists and—whoooops, did NOT mean to brush her tits against his cheek like that. Lol! “Ek, my bad,” she chortled dismissively, as he recoiled and sputtered.
“H-Hey, can you--?!”
“Relax. We gotta get used to operating up close, in tight quarters. Just practicing with ya.” She let him go; he stumbled. Then … huh. He seemed offended, like he didn’t like this treatment. Like he was considering talking back to her again.
Her jovial mood clouded. “Go get some breakfast,” she waved off. “And fill up good. Last night was a fun break, but we’ve got thirty-two hours before the Exhibition. It’s go time. We’re gonna work harder than ever before.”
“Harder?”
Whoa. Not at all the enthusiasm she’d expected to see. “You don’t think you’ve maxed out your effort yet, do you?” she asked with concern.
“I … well …”
Oh god. He really did. “Buddy.” She wrapped a forearm around him tightly, not caring about the sweat. “There is always room to improve,” she educated firmly. “You were close yesterday – well, after the morning. You worked real hard half the day, but are you tellin’ me you couldn’t’a taken even one less break or worked one bit harder?”
“I … guess I could have,” he said slowly. But she could tell he didn’t mean it.
“Teammate! How can you have that mentality? ‘Close’ isn’t gonna cut it; we gotta be perfect! And not just for an afternoon. When you can show me a full day of nonstop, all-out focus; and hopefully string two days like that in a row … then I’ll start liking our chances. You feel me?”
“Yeah, um …” he wavered, with much delay. “Sure. I’ll try.”
“You’ll try?” Oh, that rankled. She rose up straight and cupped his chin. “When your Mighty tells you to do something, you—”
“I will,” he amended, fidgeting anxiously. “I’ll do it. I’ll … be better.”
Jen released his chin and dismissed him to go do chores, frowning as he scampered away. Would he work harder? Would he stop turning insolent every five minutes and just learn to trust her? She felt like she was bumping up against the boundaries of what words could accomplish alone.
And a little devil spoke on her shoulder again, in the voice of Nora: ‘Spank him. It’s the only way.’
Spanking would do the trick. Jen was virtually certain of it. He wouldn’t delay or dither or ponder whether she knew better than him. With a few good smacks fresh on his mind, he would just do.
She balked though. You couldn’t go back from something like that. She had to be a hundred percent sure she wanted to go there. And she just wasn’t yet. If she could find another way to bring him around, she would.
