Low Level Bestiary
🕑 Added 2025-07-17 18:21:19 +0000 UTCHere's a selection of paid critters to populate your games. There are about a dozen monsters here, including a tier 2 dragon that would destroy a low level party. A few notes:
Encounter building shows the number of creatures at each tier that make for a potential TPK. A is apprentice tier, tier 1 is levels 1 and 2, tier 2 is levels 3, 4, 5, 6, tier 3 is levels 7, 8, and 9, while tier 4 is level 10+. A dash means a creature is too weak or strong for that tier.
Actions listed a number next to them. That indicates the initiative count on which the creature acts and can use one of those options.
Creatures with multiple action blocks take a turn on each of the listed initiatives.

I'm liking what you've made so far! The simplicity of the statblocks is fantastic! I also like the current way of building encounters that you've designed! Upon reading this low level bestiary, I felt inspired to come up with variations of monsters just by changing the power it has. I'm intrigued by the use of Initiative counts. I'm looking forward to running some of these monsters and seeing how it goes!

I love the simplicity of the blocks. No idea on the balance. One thing I really like spiders to be able to do is use webbing....which I kind of assume the bolas spider is doing? I just feel like the more "what is the one thing that sets this monster apart" thing is more important than we give it credit for (at least for me as a DM). And spiders for me is webbing (and poison). I like your poison and your disease rules so far. I have this draft PDF of fantasy diseases I keep meaning to finish and sell....someday maybe.
