Only two of Bell's people left standing. There was no way they really had a chance against all those Alds, but at least they died for a better cause than the one they'd been fighting for when they got here. Alas, everyone rots regardless.

Thank you for all the hurricane well wishes! It actually wound up being a decent little mini break, and I did some scriptwork on my Chromebook while bunking at a friend's place. Hopefully that's all my area sees for the year and the Atlantic leaves us alone. Knock on Wand'ring Root.I really love this upcoming scene. Soldiers are scary enough but enemy soldiers whom you can't even communicate with, and who seem to know something you don't, I find particularly scary. Don't ask for a translation please, not knowing is the point!Anyway, who's ready for Uaid to do some battlin'.

Lori and Iori never meet in the comic but I love their relationship anyway, haha. Lori's bitterness and Iori just blithely sending the Quigleys to her anyway, half a favour to them and half a "Do you ever think about me, sis?" to Lori. Not realising that a day doesn't go by without Lori thinking about her quite intently, and burying herself deeper and deeper into a self-pitying hole. And that's where Queen Sonorie found her, of course.I always grow too attached to the characters that no one cares about~~

They are truculent assholes who have been all but eradicated by invasive Cuban anoles, and they evade predators by having very easily severed tails which they can leave behind to flop around and distract predators. Anole tails thankfully regrow but alas, two-toe tails don't. Thank you for your sacrifice, little tail; Sette cries a tear.

Important bit of information here. Duane doesn't sound like his living self. His vocal cords rotted and he was rendered mute until he installed a pymaric equivalent. He has a raspy, slightly artificial sounding voice, and if you'd known him in life he'd sound like a stranger to you.Also: Hey lizard lads! I'm sure you're not here to do anything stupid and cause even more trouble, nope.

Duane is fluent in Soldier. It's not his preferred dialect, but he does just fine when among natives. Not sure Ricker's gonna be real appreciative of the directions though :3

In case you couldn't tell on the last page, the Chief is no kind of combat wright - she's an engineer. Not too complicated a maneuver to clock a dad in the head when he's suddenly panicking over his son though. She can't stick around and finish him off, fortunately. Chief's a little concerned over the fact that the headmistress has a self-destruct spell in a safe for occasions such as today, and who knows if she's feeling twitchy enough to use it. Uaid doesn't seem to want her to finish. But everything she's said has been truthful so far. We've seen time and time again that Uaid only listens to Matty. And we know that they all went to Cresce after fleeing Alderode. We also know that the Chief had to have gotten all of Vienne's work from SOMEWHERE, and a sneaky memory bank inside Uaid's eye ain't a bad place. Makes sense if you know your husband despises what you're making and is never likely to look it in the face more than he has to.

This interaction very closely mirrors the very first interaction they had, when Quigley told Matty to GO AND WAIT so he could talk to Starfish about, ya know, just slave trafficking things. Quigley's life would have turned out a lot better if he'd paused to listen to the people he loved more, and not insisted on always barrelling forward with so little trust in them.But that's an Aldish thing, really.
