~ another reminder to make sure your address is in to be eligible for the sticker reward!! Here is the postexplaining everything including directions on how to do that! ~hi kind of weird one today. This is a very stupid very real very raw 20 minute chat session in place of this month's video please dont hate me!!!! I'm talking a lot about feeling hopeless about book illustration. Might talk more about this on a future podcast since I think it is something that should be addressed and broadcasted on a larger scale than it is. this is jus...
Secret Sketches: dino edition + sickness
Hiiii (*_*)I'm bedridden after a nasty combo of a bad cold right into norovirus--not my week, and hating not being able to do my normal things. But I'm on the up and up, feeling well enough to do some work from bed today. You can scroll to the end of the photo gallery for a fun surprise--a photo I took a few minutes before writing this with my favorite items right now (ritz crackers and gatorade). It's looking like all dinos this month, as I work through a current book project called The Dinosaur and The Bird. I signed for this proje...

january: cleveland talk, goals, YOUR favorite things!⋆·˚ ༘ *
oh I really didn't shut up this time did I. But it might be one of my favorite recordings so far! I especially love the last 20-30 minutes where I read off all of your things you have been enjoying lately and briefly react to them. Very fun group activity, you guys are all interesting and cool and I'm lucky to have such a stunning group here. Really A+ on your responses. If I missed one, yell at me!!I am stupid and I did not list my three things I have been enjoying lately where are Helvetica (the font), 2010s nostalgia, and the midwest...
A prompt for you + Non-Aesthetic Photos
Let me know: What are three things you’ve been enjoying lately? (Concepts, objects, activities, rituals, foods, aesthetics, etc.) This morning I was sitting with my coffee and reading the comments on my latest YouTube videos where I asked everyone to respond with three things they have been enjoying lately. This is a question I asked someone recently and can’t stop asking others because the responses are so fun and quick. I think it’s neat because it’s not “favorite things of all time” just favorite things of recent, even in the pas...

Secret Sketches: Book Projects + Sticker Pack ❆
Happy holidays and almost happy new year! I am reporting to you from Cleveland, Ohio USA currently. Having a good time here, despite what everyone might say about Ohio. I have just a few images of work in progress stuff, including multiple book projects I'm doing right now, and a sticker pack (final image) that I'll be experimenting with in my shop soon. I'm having a bit of a lazy month, but working here and there. If you have any specific questions about any of the images, please ask! I just feel completely unable to explain anythi...
DOTSU 2025 downloadable icon pack!
Had a lot of fun working on this one! I wanted to combine the aesthetics of my favorite pieces in design history + some "dotsuverse" (many renditions of my character dots, or dotsu) for a clean, minimal, and modern iOS icon pack. There is also a banner included, labled as such. ----If you do not know how to use these:-download zip and open the files, either on your phone or on your computer, then send them to your phone's photos.-make sure your background is set to plain white before adding custom shortcut icons-use the shortcuts ap...

Paint my rock goblin postcard with me + Q&A !
In this video I work with acryla gouache and colored pencils on heavy weight mixed media paper. There's definitely some cuts and sped up parts but it's mostly shot in real time! I am really so monotone in this voiceover but I promise I was having fun. <3 Thanks for your questions, I got to a little over half of them. Enjoy!!-JG
ask me anything | Q & A voiceover
I am editing this month's deciduous tier video today and am finding it impossible to think of a single thing to say at this time, so I'd love to answer some questions/give some advice if you need it! The video is a paint with me showing my whole process in making my Gallery Nucleus rock goblin(?) postcard. Pretty cute stuff, and I'm actually doing art in a video for once! It would be a good month to consider upgrading to deciduous for a little bit. Or don't, I don't care. I'll pull down your underwear :)Anyways ask away,...
𝔫𝔬𝔳 𝔭𝔬𝔡𝔠𝔞𝔰𝔱: Romantic Doomer
This is the audio companion to my last post which was a text-packed blog post with my thoughts on life, work, and work-life balance lately. I talk about things that need to change next year, and some big life events coming up in the future. It's a little doom-y in the publishing talk section, but I balance it out with some romantic hopes and good things.First 11 minutes is me not shutting up about nice good things I have been enjoying lately, to ease us in. Feeling really annoyed by my own voice in this one, just me? Absolutely loving you t...
𝔑𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔪𝔟𝔢𝔯 Newsletter/Blog/Secret Sketches
Hello Happy November ◡̈I'm writing to you with a mild cold, and I'm not bad enough to not get any work done, but not well enough to go lift (I tried to bench yesterday and went failure mode pretty much immediately). Since I'm not someone that loves to read long-form blog posts (and I figure some of you might be too) I'll also be recording a sort of companion podcastonce I'm less sniffly where I'll elaborate on some of the things I talk about here.-----The Too-Long-Didn't-Read preface is as follows:-I moved my work...

𝒮𝑒𝓅𝓉𝑒𝓂𝒷𝑒𝓇 ꩜𖦹✧ whimsigoth printable sticker sheet!
I'm calling this month's printable a "printable sticker sheet" but it could really just be a 8.5x11 print as-is! I was inspired to make this when I watched a video of someone printing out some images from pinterest and kiss-cutting them with scissors then gluing them into their journal. It could also just be printed on some sticker paper, whatever you want to do!As always, the file is attached below! Enjoy ⊹ ࣪ ˖𖦹꩜-JG
𝓢𝓮𝓹𝓽𝓮𝓶𝓫𝓮𝓻 podcast: "I love this guy"
Hi there, lots of talking in this month's podcast which is weird and random! Much to cover such as: new cat updates, feeling absolutely unable to work in my sketchbook, wanting to do traditional pieces again, attention being stretched thin, game of thrones thoughts, new bed sheets and updates from the farm.Would be best paired with a long walk. -JG
𝖆𝖚𝖌𝖚𝖘𝖙 printable + phone wallpapers
Hi and happy end of August! It's been a crazy busy month, but I've been itching to draw some more dark fantasy assets for a patreon reward. So I thought a flying eyeball would be the star of this month's rewards >:-]Attached is a 10x10 in. printable and three options for phone wallpapers. My personal favorite is the pink eye on the brown background.Enjoy!!-JG

Hey, I thought I'd do a short blog-style post telling you a bit about what's been going on lately! I have been a little MIA on social media. Now you get to hear the juicy secrets as to why....!First off I've been working on some book projects right now, including finishing up sketches for a dinosaur picture book, and sketches for a book about "extreme" birdwatching. My deadline for the birdwatching book is tomorrow and honestly I'm cutting it close time-wise. I also had the opportunity to do an illustration for the New Y...

Hi patron ! Gotta admit, I did NOT draw much this month :-D haha yay! Much of my drawing has been spent on a picture book about dinosaurs which I've included some snippets of. I'm really enjoying working on it. Right now I'm just in the sketching phase, but I have big plans for the colors/textures of this one!I'm also working on a dark and powerful cowboy wizard costume for ren faire which is this saturday, so have a look at that. I don't know if it will end up looking exactly like the drawing, but I think it will come close...
