Mother Jupiter
Finally, the dragon based on a planet that I was working on for a contest is done! This was very fun to do and way out of what I usually do, so I learned a lot doing this.As you can tell, this dragon is based on Jupiter. I used plenty of references of the planet in order to capture all the subtle colours on its surface, and it was especially fun to capture the swirls and cloud-like matter in the texture. I like to imagine that the swirls in her wings move and swirl in real time, so they're never definite.I wanted this dragon to look both fi...
WIPs - Esks, Dragons and Milestones
Hello! It's been a little while since I gave some news, so allow me to catch up on what I've been doing. The first tome of Bound Fates is coming along well! I reached my first milestone of having reached 100 pages! (technically 101) Only a little bit of the fourth chapter to go for the storyboard stage, then there is the final chapter. So a little bit at a time, I'm getting there! I'll definitely have more interesting things to show once I enter the refined sketches phase, for now it's mostly scribbles and placements of skele...
The Keeper
The Child lived freely and happily,Drowning in affection and love,With lasting peace and tranquility,He knew not of the darkness aboveSheltered from the start to the End,The Caretaker cradled the young;“I will be with you ‘til you Ascend,Child, leave not your fate unsung”“You are special, my sweet dear child,A great Destiny lays ‘fore thee,You will wake sleeping storms wild,And bring mountains to their knee”It's been a while since I was able to do some Wyngro drawings, but I do want to do more detailed illustrations to go with m...
The Last Child of Sarren - Step-by-Step
Here is the step-by-step of "The Last Child of Sarren" painting! I fiddled a lot with the background for this one, but in the end I am very glad with what I went with.
The Scorched One Step-by-Step
Long overdue, but here is the step-by-step process of "The Scorched One"! I definitely had fun playing around with the fire in this piece as you can see, as well as all the different warm shades of gold, crimson and orange.
Dreaming of Spring
I started this a while ago and forgot about it, so I went back and finished it! Something simple and quick, winter never ends over here and truth be told, I am tired of it and so is Beast. :DI am very much looking forward to Spring so I can be more inspired to make foresty paintings.
The Last Child of Sarren
Here is a portrait of a very important character that will appear later down the line in Pale Blood, Okorrein the Black Dragon. I will not say much about him other than that you will hear his name often, though not explicitely talking about him directly. The Okorrein Fortress on the Iznugia Archipelago was named after him after the victory of the Black Hunters over the Corrupted Patriarch Renmar Aruk, a battle in which Okorrein participated and triumphed.I hope you're looking forward to more about this character! I know I had fun painting h...
Pale Blood - The Witch of the Woods
Here we have another piece of promo art for Bound Fates! This one features Rillaya, a priestess who takes care of the Farryn Grove Temple. In this piece I mostly wanted to capture her elegance and her magic. I don't work enough with green and orange hues like this, so I also wanted to experiment with it!I hope you like it!
WIPs - Storyboards, Witches and Dragons
Hey there! Been a while since I was able to post anything here, sorry about that! I have a lot on my table, and most of it are works-in-progress, especially the things relating to comics.First, the storyboards. As you can imagine, I'm right in the middle of the storyboard phase of the first volume of Pale Blood, and while it's taking time, it's a good idea to do all the pages first before going ahead into any other phase; you can see how most pages look like with the sketch in the upper left! In this phase I'm just setting panel...
The Wetlands
Here is another Esk artwork, featuring the NPC Seventh! I absolutely love this character's design and just had to practice this kind of landscape with them, they are such a graceful creature. I feel all this Esk art will be useful in practicing varying landscapes, which I really need in my set of skills.I hope you like it!
Overlook
This is a YCH for a client on dA!I had a blast working on this one as well, it's such a big contrast next to the last one in terms of light and subject. Going from a dark, mountain dragon with low light to a bright blue scene with a griffon. Couldn't ask for a better subject!I hope you like it!
Embrace
Happy Valentine's Day, my dears! For my traditional Valentine's couple image for this year, I decided to go with Mask and Rillaya, because they're truly the best coule of Pale Blood, hands down. x) This was very fun to work on, I actually love doing cute little images like this with embracing couples, and doing it with my own characters is even better. Working on rendering the feathers and the fur was the best part, as is often the case when drawing my Ikrouks.I hope you like it, and I hope you have a nice Valentine's Day!
Mountain Lord
This is a YCH for a client on dA!I always wanted to do a piece similar to this, with a dark background with lights streaming in, so this was a real pleasure to work on.Hope you like it!
Pale Blood - The Scorched One
"Have you heard the tales, traveler? About the one they call the Scorched One? Rage can only come alive in so many forms, but the wandering prince of Ook represents anger itself. Fire is a living spirit in his hands, and flames are his breath. Should you meet him and his shadows on the lonely roads, pray that you do not bring forth such rage. Your ashes will feed the soil beneath your feet in a moment's thought..."
Stained Glass Artur
Here's a fun little experiment! I tried to emulate the style of the stained glass images from Kingdom Hearts, and I actually learned a lot about stained glass in general. This was fun to make while waiting for KH3!
Knight
Here is something huge that I've been working on for quite a while; a huge scroll commission for my friend CelticQuailKnight! This is about her big story simply called Knight, which I fully recommend you keep an eye on (as of writing this it's still being worked on) as Celtic's writing skills are truly inspiring. The characters featured in this scroll are Kirby, Galacta Knight, Meta Knight and Sailor Dee, and her original characters Lunar Knight, Halcyon and Umbra. It was a real blast to work on this piece!I hope you like it!
WIP - Scorched One and Comic News
Here is a wip of another promo art for Bound Fates, this one featuring the "antagonist" of the story, Prince Dragon'ck! This piece is very different from the others I did so far, but I am having a blast with all that fire and those warm tones.I also have good news about the first volume of BF; I finished storyboarding the first chapter and am nearing the end of the second chapter, making the pages up to 50 so far! Definitely bigger than your average comic book, but this is why I call this a graphic novel instead of a comic book. Onc...
Portrait of the Grandmother
So my plan is to join the ARPG group around the Esk species, and to start off with some practice I'll be drawing some of their characters! These make for great relaxation paintings, so they should be quite enjoyable between works. ^_^Hope you like it!
The Hollow Knight
I finally came around to making fanart of this game! I've been a fan for a long while now and I only ever did small doodles of these characters; it was about time I made a bigger piece featuring one of my favourite characters, the Hollow Knight himself. I cannot wait for the possible Hornet DLC! I had a lot of fun with this little piece!Hope you like it!
Pale Blood - Foreword Page WIP
Here is a little wip of one of the early pages of Pale Blood! There will be two foreword pages before the story begins to set the mood, and we get to see a nice crystallized dragon overcome by Corruption. I can't wait to get started on the colours for these pages!
Crystallized Moment
A little speedpaint to change my mind as I haven't been feeling too good lately. Loved working on the ice in this!
Bound Fates - Tales of Gods and Fallen Ones
Promo art featuring the Celestial Siblings, which are the gods and higher beings that will be mentioned quite often throughout the stories of Bound Fates! The Celestial Siblings come in three;Sarren, the Fierce One, the oldest of the three, his back heavy with regretsKoth, the Benevolent One, the middle sister, her heart leaking unshed tearsThe Lonely One, the youngest brother, who was obliterated for merely existingThe Great Celestials aren't so much gods as they are powerful sorcerers, but the peoples of the Universe they helped create see...
WIPs - Gods, Witches and Sketches
Some news!I am right in the works for the storyboarding of Pale Blood, which means I am doing the very rough sketches and first phases of the panels to tell the story. So far, I am up to page 18, so perhaps halfway through the first chapter. We also have more promo art in the works, one featuring Rillaya the Witch and the other showcasing the Celestial Siblings!
My Own Place
It has been so long since I've made an underwater piece, this was so nice to do!Hope you like it!
The Masked One Step-by-Step
And here's the step-by-step for The Masked One painting!
Despite Everything
Something more lighthearted to end the year on! Ryuu and Thelagon having a nice bonding time as they watch snow fall <3Happy New Year's!
Pale Blood - The Masked One
This is the third piece of promo art for Bound Fates, this one feature none other than Mask, Artur's protector! I am very happy with how this one came out, as I really wanted to capture what made Mask an interesting character, and with what's hinted at here, I hope you will find him interesting in the story itself! Painting those feathers was a delight as always!I hope you like it!
Golden Breath
Found on the side of the road,Discarded and left to rot,An Egg left hollowed,Stepped on like forget-me-notsA kind Shadow found the shell,Cradled it to her home and domain,Filled it with Life before it fell,Knowing fully well it be in vainA Child of Light emerged from Death,Not Hollow and Cold,But lively with a Golden breath,And eyes shining with Tales Untold
The Slap of Fate
It had to come eventually, it was written in the ancient documents of the world.Getting more of these finished before the end of the month! Almost done with all the plot points.
The Plague Settles
And here is part 2 of Dawn's sickness story!I wish I could have spent more time on these pages but I have to get these done before the end of the month and preferably before Christmas, so there you go! They still make for good practice for ambiant light and colour backgrounds, so there's that!Hope you like it!
