Modulators! Prototypes! Infinite Possibilities!
Hey Everyone!Okay this one's for the studio heads or anyone interested in sound sculpting audio effects. When Lealani and I were in Michigan on the last tour, my friend Curt Malouin dropped by our sound check to let me try a prototype of the forthcoming Radius pedal that he designed for his effects company Red Panda.I met Curt in Detroit on our Vinyl Vaudeville/Floor Kids tour back in 2019 and was introduced to his designs via Juan Alderete (bass player for Deltron 3030). I remember Juan had one of Red Panda's Particle pedals on his boa...

Hey Everyone,Been the studio today working on a bunch of hand lettered signs! For context, here is a page from the original Space Cadet book with some of the store fronts on a downtown street. Namely, St. Laurent, Mont-Royal and St. Catharines St.Tonight I've been drawing on the tablet and working on some lettering for the 3D store fronts. There will be a hardware store! Caterpillars, Shoelaces, Sonnets
Hey everyone! What?! We’re going way back! Do you remember studying Shakespearean sonnets in literature class back in high school? Y’know, learning about iambic pentameter and all that jazz? Well this is a sonnet I wrote as a teenager for one of my classes. The assignment was to write and illustrate an original sonnet. I had this idea about a caterpillar in a shoelace tying race. This one’s kinda silly. Enjoy!E

Bleeps, Plants, Squeaks!
Hi Everyone!Just a quick check in to let you know I’m in the studio everyday at this point working on the Space Cadet feature film and making lots foley noises and lists! This week I’m adding some very specifically timed foley and music cues to the animatic. Since there won’t be any dialogue in the film, a lot of the pacing and punchlines of the comedic or dramatic beats will be guided by the music and sound effects. The tighter I can get the timing of all those things in the animatic phase, the clearer it will be before we start the act...

Crustaceans, Robot Antenna, Tuned Percussion
Hey Everyone!Just thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of some WIP things that are happening on the Space Cadet feature film.Oh wow!! How adorable is this little crustacean?! This is a WIP front view of a hermit crab who will have a small scene in the film where it tries on various bits of litter it finds on the beach as potential homes. One of my fondest memories from childhood would be going to the rocky beaches of Vancouver and observing all the little creatures that lived in the tide pools. From L-R: Mosquito, Katy (the katydid), tarantula, avocado, squirrel, mole, bread etc. For the early proof of concept models, I used wire and clear tape to create the wings and arms.
