Fluffy Mod Manager v3.003 release - A few bug fixes

New version release!Update via Fluffy Mod Manager (run it and click on "Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Mod Manager") or you can manually download and unpack this over your current install: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipThis version primarily fixes an annoying bug that can happen if you install two mods that modify the same files but one mod is stored as RAR (or in extracted form) and the other mod is stored as ZIP or 7Zip. That will make the mod manager think the modified assets aren't modified, and thus try to bac...

Fluffy Mod Manager v3.001 release - Improved support for Monster Hunter Rise on Game Pass

New version release!Update via Fluffy Mod Manager (run it and click on "Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Mod Manager") or you can manually download and unpack this over your current install: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipMonster Hunter Rise was made available on Game Pass a while ago. This version of the game is a completely separate build compared to the Steam release with a differently named executable and different paths in the PAK files. I've made changes to the mod manager so it can detect this as a valid instal...

Fluffy Mod Manager v3.000 release - 7Zip and ZIP support! Uncharted 4! And faster preview loading!

New version release!Update via Fluffy Mod Manager (run it and click on "Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Mod Manager") or you can manually download and unpack this over your current install: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipThis contains the same features as the work-in-progress builds I've uploaded recently. I've done a lot of testing and I think the new features are stable. The biggest addition is probably that mods can now be distributed as 7Zip and ZIP archives. I decided to bump up the version number to 3.0 so m...

Thoughts on drama in the modding scene

There are many mod creators who are selling mods on platforms like Patreon. In an ideal world, I'd like to see mods be completely free and available to everyone, but the reality is that making mods is a lot of work and mod authors are spending thousands of hours creating their mods. So I find it understandable some modders want to monetize their work, especially if they're in a rough financial situation.I don't see anything wrong with the above, but what is wrong are people stealing mods so they can sell them without permission. If ...

Fluffy Mod Manager v2.259 work in progress - Improved screenshot transitions

New Fluffy Manager (work in progress) release!Download: https://fluffyquack.com/WIP/modmanager.zip (install by extracting the files over your mod manager install)I rewrote the code that handles the fading between mod preview screenshots as you browse the mod list. The transition should be faster and look smoother now.If you enter Options, you'll find a setting that lets you choose between 3 transition types: Fade: Crossfade between screenshots Shift: Move the screenshot window in and out of view Instant: Instantly switch between screenshots...

FluffyQuack post Fluffy Mod Manager v2.259 work in progress - Full Uncharted 4 support from patreon

Fluffy Mod Manager v2.259 work in progress - Full Uncharted 4 support

New Fluffy Manager (work in progress) release!Download: https://fluffyquack.com/WIP/modmanager.zip (install by extracting the files over your mod manager install)I've improved support for Uncharted 4 in the mod manager so file containers will be automatically modified to force the game to load loose assets outside of those containers, which means you can distribute mods as packaged loose assets. It works in an extremely similar way to how the mod manager installs mods for RE Engine games. Thanks to this and model import breakthroughs by alph...

Fluffy Mod Manager v2.259 work in progress - ZIP support

New Fluffy Manager (work in progress) release!Download: https://fluffyquack.com/WIP/modmanager.zip (install by extracting the files over your mod manager install)Since I was working on file I/O I figured I'd look into ZIP support as well. Fortunately, turns out it extremely easy to write support for. I implemented it using this library which is extremely straightforward to include and use: https://github.com/richgel999/minizOne nice thing about ZIP files is that they can't be created as solid archives. This means mod authors don't n...

Fluffy Mod Manager v2.259 work in progress - 7Zip support and seamless mod preview loading

New Fluffy Manager (work in progress) release!Download: https://fluffyquack.com/WIP/modmanager.zip (install by extracting the files over your mod manager install)There are two big changes with this release: 7Zip support: Mods can now be distributed compressed as 7Zip archives. There's one important thing to note about this: 7Zip archives are compressed into solid archives by default, which means it's very slow to extract one individual file from them. This makes certain actions in the mod manager very slow (like slow loading of mod prev...

FluffyQuack post Fluffy Mod Manager v2.258 release - More categories for RE2R! from patreon

Fluffy Mod Manager v2.258 release - More categories for RE2R!

New version release!Update via Fluffy Mod Manager (run it and click on "Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Mod Manager") or you can manually download and unpack this: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipThis release overhauls the categories for the RE2R mod list. After updating to this release and if you're modding RE2R, I suggest pressing this once "Options->Advanced Options->Re-create mod info cache".I also fixed an annoying bug where the mod manager would show the wrong menu after installing/uninstalling a mod whi...

Manually overriding category selection for a mod via the modinfo.ini

Fluffy Mod Manager has a category system for several games where it tries to scan assets for a mod to figure out what category it belongs to. Rarely, it might get it wrong and assign the wrong category for a mod. A mod author can override the automatic selection by adding line like this to the modinfo.ini: category = !Characters > RebeccaThat makes it so the mod manager will always place that mod into the "Rebecca" category rather than trying to automatically trying to choose a fitting category. Remember to get the spelling right, other...

ARCtool v0.9.6 release - More extensions for Devil May Cry 4

FluffyQuack post Fluffy Mod Manager v2.257 release - Categorization system! from patreon

Fluffy Mod Manager v2.257 release - Categorization system!

New version release!Update via Fluffy Mod Manager (run it and click on "Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Mod Manager") or you can manually download and unpack this: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipI've been working on a big category system for Fluffy Manager for a long while now, and while it's still not finished, I think it's in a good enough state to be released. The mod list menu now defaults to a list of categories (you can turn this off in Options if you don't like the category system). The clever thing...

Prince of Persia - Dropped input fix

I made a PR for SDL-PoP that fixes a rather major bug that can result in dropped input. The game runs at 12fps most of the time which means an 83.333ms interval between gameplay ticks. If you press down and release a key within that interval, the input gets ignored. I fixed up the input code so that bug doesn't happen anymore (make sure to go into Settings->Gameplay and turn on "Enhanced mode" for the fix to take effect). There's not a new release of SDL-PoP with my fix yet, but I did re-upload a build of my fork with the fix: ht...

Fluffy Manager v2.256 release - Re:Verse support

New Fluffy Manager release!Update via Fluffy Manager (run it and click on Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Manager) or you can manually download and unpack this: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipUpdated ReVerse game entry in Fluffy Mod Manager so mod managing works with the final release.Full change log: Prepared support for Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4 remake by adding dummy entries for them in the mod manager. Added basic mod managing support for Uncharted 4. Updated information for Re:Verse so mod managing works with fin...

New Resident Evil 8 patch breaking trainers

Resident Evil Village got a patch today, it's likely the version they're using for the DLC that's being released in less than two weeks. With this version, they added new anti-tamper code that scans for changes to the game made in memory and then makes the game quit if changes are detected. This makes the RE8 trainer in my mod manager no longer compatible.I'll look at this situation again once the DLC is out, but I'm thinking I'll simply retire my RE8 trainer (I'll probably still keep it there if people ever end up us...

REtool v0.215 - PAK creation, MHR support

Uploaded new version: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/REtool.rarI had this as a work-in-progress release for the longest time, so it's about time I make this as a stable release. This has support for extracting the encrypted PAKs from Monster Hunter: Rise. It lets you create PAK files (using "-c [directory]" argument). And it adds a few more extensions that it's able to guess when extracting a PAK without a full filelist.Change log: Added support for decrypting PAKs for MHR on PC. Added support for creating PAK file by using the &#...

Fluffy Manager v2.255 release - Fixed crash due to rare modinfo.ini configuration

New Fluffy Manager release!Update via Fluffy Manager (run it and click on Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Manager) or you can manually download and unpack this: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipA quick and small release to fix one specific issue. Someone had a crashing issue and it turns out the cause was a name entry in a modinfo.ini that was left blank. This new version can handles that correctly.

Fluffy Manager v2.254 release - Fixed support for patched Monster Hunter Rise

New Fluffy Manager release!Update via Fluffy Manager (run it and click on Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Manager) or you can manually download and unpack this: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipThis is a quick release to fix a bug when installing mods consisting of loose assets (ie, mods packaged as RAR files) for Monster Hunter Rise. It works correctly when installing mods that modify assets that only exist in the game's main PAK file, but it didn't work correctly for assets that existed in the official patch PAKs. This n...

Star Wars: Jedi Outcast - FluffyMod with Various Quality-of-Life changes

This is a project I did recently. I wanted to make a few changes to the game before playing through it, and then things went out of hand and I did a lot of changes. The biggest changes include better widescreen support (by the default the game stretches everything), better-looking shadows, support for tweaking weapon values, and some other stuff. There are 4 downloads in this post: FluffyMod.zip - This is the mod itself. Extract to where you have the game installed. Make backups of the files it's replaced if you want to revert (or reinstall ...

Fluffy Manager v2.253 release

New Fluffy Manager release!Update via Fluffy Manager (run it and click on Downloads->Update to latest Fluffy Manager) or you can manually download and unpack this: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zipThis has the same changes as the work-in-progress release from a few days ago. It seems stable so I'm pushing it as a normal release. These changes are all about handling the new ray-traced versions of RE2/RE3/RE7 better. The ray-tracing version pretty much broke support for all mods. Remember, the best way to approach this is to downgr...

Fluffy Manager 5000 Troubleshooting Guide

I'll be maintaining this post as a general troubleshooting guide for common problems when using Fluffy Manager 5000.Q: Mods aren't working and I don't know why.A: As a generic troubleshooting step, I suggest doing this in the following order to ensure game install is 100% clean:- Update to latest version of the mod manager.- Uninstall all mods via the mod manager.- Go to where the mod manage resides and travel to this folder "Games\[GameName]" and delete the "Backup" folder.- Uninstall the game.- Go to the game's...

FluffyQuack post Fluffy Manager v2.253 work in progress - Detection of incompatible mods from patreon

Fluffy Manager v2.253 work in progress - Detection of incompatible mods

New Fluffy Manager (work in progress) release!Download: https://fluffyquack.com/WIP/modmanager.zip (install by extracting the files over your mod manager install)Here's a new work-in-progress version that should work better with both old and new versions of RE2/3/7. I've created a system where the mod manager shows a warning message when the user installs a mod that conflicts with the game version (look at the image above for an example of what the warning looks like). The system for detecting incompatible mods should work correctly for ...

Capcom made it possible to roll back to previous versions of RE2, RE3, and RE7

Instructions here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/883710/view/3344500154867780165I'm glad Capcom made this possible as this is the best way to ensure all old mods still function.I think I'll give up on the idea of having Fluffy Manager automatically convert all the file formats necessary for old mods to work with the new RT builds. There are just too many formats to handle, and some of them are really complex. My plan now is to make an update for Fluffy Manager where it manages to detect if the game build you've got installe...

Fluffy Manager v2.253 work in progress - Automatic conversion of TEX to new RE2/RE3 format

New Fluffy Manager (work in progress) release!Download: https://fluffyquack.com/WIP/modmanager.zip (install by extracting the files over your mod manager install)First of all, if anyone is using an unpatched version of RE2 or RE3, then DO NOT download this version of Fluffy Manager!I'm experimenting with a feature that automatically converts textures (TEX files) to the new format used in the new patch for RE2 and RE3. This means old mods that only contain textures will work with the new version. The vast majority of mods are still incompati...

Mod status after RE2, RE3, and RE7 patches

The ray-tracing patches are out for RE2, RE3, and RE7 on PC now. Unfortunately, it looks like practically all mods are no longer compatible. I think the cause is a change in filenames.I'll spend some time trying to figure this out tomorrow. If the cause is only due to changes in filenames, then it shouldn't be a ton of work to fix. But if they've done changes to formats, then it'll be much more annoying.Update: They've updated engine and that means a bunch of formats have changed (the formats are now similar to what's us...
