Staff's Choice

Referring to our Staff-tier and higher readers, not the in-story convention staff! I want the Staff's Choice chapter to be something of a wild card, based on what unique ideas the readers want to see written. Rather than a poll, I thought I'd try this out as a brainstorming discussion at first to see what ideas are put forth.I think one of the major strengths of the sidestories is that they give the overall story a lot more breadth and scope, showing that anime conventions are full of crazy and unbelievable things going on all around. W...

RE: Trailer Trash 8, When what she doesn't know will hurt her.

In Tabitha’s first few weeks at school, she’d already begun to question her initial goals.I knew, in an OBJECTIVE way, that simply being thin and pretty weren’t all it took to make a bunch of friends. But, I guess it really is completely different when you’re experiencing it firsthand. She realized now that in her past life, she’d associated all of her high school problems with her low-self-esteem and poor body image. Subconsciously, some part of her had attributed her past life’s social estrangement and loneliness entirely to her we...

Waifu-tier Sidestories Announcement

I've always thought putting the original characters of readers into the story was a great reflection of the interesting sorts of people you unexpectedly meet when you're at anime conventions, and I've worked hard to integrate them believably in a way that makes for a compelling story. That said... I feel the waifu-tier sidestories will lose coherency if they go on and on indefinitely, so I'm announcing that Afterparty will be the conclusion of the waifu-tier sidestory subplots, and the closing of the Waifu-tier.Right now, I'l...

AnimeCon Harem 7: Problematic

“How are we doing?” Stephanie whispered, trying to struggle out of her costume boots in the narrow confines of the hotel bathroom. With the door closed and the bathtub’s tap running like this, it would be difficult for them to be overheard. “Are we… are we doing good?”“I don’t know?” Kelly said softly. “I’m not even sure what I’m doing, anymore.”Stephanie looked at her dark-haired friend—now with a lively flash of red—as the scene girl sat on the edge of the tub. Kelly’s feet were already in the water, the legs of her yoga pants...

At first, Geneva’d thought it was hilarious. National DS2 PvP Invitational, and someone forgot to configure the gorram router? That’s rich.“Undead, you should go buy me some pop!” she grinned, elbowing the competitor on her right, a thin black man in his early twenties. “Since we got a minute.”“Bitch, plez...” he laughed. "You still owe me twenty buck...

Fllamjr AnimeCon Harem Cover

This is a sketch from one of the artists I was contacting, fllamjr. Great artist and very professional work, but neither of us felt it suited the style of the story.

Character References (NSFW)

I'm having trouble communicating with artists to commission exactly the visual I want the characters to have. So, I've been told I need to shamelessly compile my references, be they celebrity, camgirl, or unsourced amateur porn. I know everyone can and will have their own mental images of how the characters look; these just happen to be mine.I think ideally, the cover art for a AnimeCon Harem book will just feature Stephanie and Kelly on it, but I can be ambitious and dream of hiring an artist to do a bunch of black and white illustrati...

AnimeCon Shopping

Wanted to bounce some ideas I've had off my readers. While a big focus of Friday and Saturday at any con is cosplay and meetups, for me Sunday is all about shopping. Would it bore you guys to tears of I had a significant portion of Sunday of the con for our characters having them shopping together? The picture here was most of my 2016 haul.Like, maybe Stephanie sees a plush doll or a PVC mini-statue of the Lance character that Brian was cosplaying on Friday. She's never played Fantasy Wars, but it'd be a keepsake that instantly remi...

7: Together at Last pt 3

(pt 1, pt 2)“W-wait!” Stephanie sputtered, slapping her hands across the tile of the shower for balance. “Kelly—you’re going to make me slip!”“Whhhy, why do you smell so good?!” Tightly gripping Stephanie’s butt cheeks and pulling the girl closer, Kelly shoved her face into the plush thighs, trying to nuzzle her nose deep between them. With a startled yelp, it was all Stephanie could do to keep herself from falling haphazardly into the tub.“Kelly, he… I didn’t tell you what he did,” Stephanie said softly.“What did he do?” Kelly as...

Content is now Patron-only

I've mercilessly sequestered the in-progress chapters and the bonus content behind a cold, hard paywall. I feel like I've been warning people I was going to do this for most of a year, and when I polled the patrons, they seemed to agree with me. Wait, do they count as being biased? In any case, I've spent my New Years dredging through the old teasers and fixing the errant ??? entries and sorting them into the chain of their relative chapter entry. That happened to be all of the Out of the Blue teasers, heck they weren't even writ...

The Winter Rose

The somewhat suspiciously-named Miss Stephanie has been working on crossover fiction between AnimeCon Harem and her VixenAbyss written universe! It starts up here in The Winter Rose, and I believe we'll have Geneva "GiGi" Lemieux crossing over into Gamer Girls as her Waifu-tier character. You'll already be able to find more material regarding the VixenAbyss characters through Miss Stephanie's page--they have a great (if complicated) dynamic between the friends and a few sexy scenes, as well.

AnimeCon Harem 5: Argument

“You’re... a fuckin’ idiot,” Kelly rolled her eyes and turned away from him with a heavy sigh. “And, you’re gonna regret all of this later. Such a big fuckin’ mistake. A waste. But, whatever. Not my problem… right?”We’re all friends, Stephanie thought in dismay. She understood each of their particular perspectives—in a detached way—but her heart ached watching their difference of mind grow into such a point of contention. After the argument between Brian and Kelly, a strained atmosphere seemed to fall over them. Kelly was...

Publish Order

tldr; AnimeCon Harem project planning notes.Continuing the research on short chapter format I started in September, I've been using Royal Road as a testbed for a publish order format, for when AnimeCon Harem is published as an e-book, or actual physical book. While I prefer large chapter format (25,000-word average chapters) for online reading, short chapter or 'serial' format is better on some sites and in actual books. The story neatly divides into 3,000-word average short chapters. Adults read at roughly 275 words a minute, which ...

AnimeCon Harem 7: Right to be Wrong

“Can we use your key?” Brian asked, turning to Kelly as they crossed the hotel courtyard area towards their ground-floor room. Exterior lights were beginning to flick into existence all around the pool’s patio area as the daylight began to disappear.“Oh,” Kelly seemed to remember, patting a hand against her chest. “I... lost mine. I think?”“Had it tucked into the Calamity Queen dress?” Brian guessed, steadying himself on the door jamb to work his boot off. “No worries. Finally, keeping a spare in my shoe actually comes in ha...

Gamer Girls 3 (Old)

As the horde of AnimeCon attendees began to disperse from the bigger events like the cosplay contest, more and more people were wandering back into the game room. Although Lucas was nominally in charge of game room one right now, he didn’t feel like getting up to keep an eye on any of the new arrivals. Another two players had joined them a match or two ago, and their Slash Sisters arena had devolved into mayhem. To his surprise, he and the girl he’d started playing with were still leagues ahead of them in skill. She’s cute, too, he though...

Bad End in Proofreading

Like Opportunity Struck, I'm now pushing Bad End into the proofreading phase. There are a lot of sections I can touch up and expand upon, but for now I'm going to enable everyone to share their thoughts and comments on the Doc itself as they please.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p8ck6q8Rxxk6v7l8zzNEv3tYhvMsBIAh2ZlbNuViITo/edit?usp=sharingI don't expect any huge changes, except possibly moving the Kelly's first meeting with her sister from Bad End to Opportunity Struck. I'd also like to expand on that scene in general as...

RE: Trailer Trash 7, The goblin artist.

To her surprise, Alicia found that not only did Tabitha remember their conversation, the red-headed school belle of Springton High actively sought her out during lunch period the very next day. She was wearing another gorgeous top, this time an asymmetrical light blue blouse with only one shoulder—the neckline scooped down under her right arm at a diagonal over her chest, decorated with flowered white embroidery.“Alicia! I’m Tabitha. I’m not sure if you remember me, from yesterday?” Tabitha began, standing hopefully beside the lunch t...

AnimeCon Harem Bonus: Super Slash Sisters (Old)

“Waiting on your friends?” Lucas guessed, nonchalantly picking up one of the Gamestation controllers and cleaning it with a sanitary wipe. Although the latest generation of Gamestation controllers were wireless, the convention center had procured batches of wired ones that plugged into the console itself, as they were less likely to walk away from Game Room one in the hands of enterprising little thieves. Almost all of the controllers had been greasy with sweat following their official Super Slash Sisters tournament, and one of them’d act...

AnimeCon Harem 6: Pizza Place

A passing glance through the pizza shop’s storefront windows revealed the same bizarre and otherworldly spectacle Kelly had been slowly adjusting to all weekend. Clientele were obviously attendees of the nearby AnimeCon, many even still in cosplay. Three girls disguised as marionette maids sat in the first window booth, sharing an extra-large pizza together, and a monstrous alien aberration stood shoulder to shoulder with a samurai warlord in wait next to the pickup window. Fox-eared hats, ninja headbands, prop weapons, and bags bulging with ...

AnimeCon Harem 1: Making the Call

“....Yes?” Stephanie answered, tilting her head in confusion.“Okay then, what? Literally, what? You needta take your story waaay back further. Anxiety or not, you’re still a little hottie. How had you never been kissed by anyone? And like, why today, why would your first kiss be with this guy you just met?”“I’ve, uh, never had a boyfriend or anything...” Stephanie admitted, embarrassed.“...Okay, how old are you?”“Twenty-two,” Stephanie shyly stated.“And you never thought about, you know, trying one on? AnimeCon Harem 6: Girlfriend and Goodbye

“You want to go out with me?” Brian asked, a little surprised himself.Still blushing, Stephanie nodded quickly. The pink-haired girl sitting in his lap now had been extremely cute when he’d first met her yesterday, but as he’d gotten to know her, she became more and more gorgeous to him. Her slight, awkward stutters were endearing, the way she seemed to light up when she smiled, the mysterious pink color that crept into her blonde hair—everything about her drew him in, until he was completely unable to deny his feelings for her.“I...
