Merritt's Story Book 1 Finale: Request/Opt Out

I've set a release date for the final 5 chapters of Merritt's Story book 1!As I mentioned in a previous post, these "top secret" book 1 finale chapters will go out as PDFs to your Patreon-linked email address instead of posting directly to the feed. Because each file is unique, I can only email them to 50 patrons per day, from January 25 to 29.If you are a current patron pledging $2 or more at the time I prepare the emails, you WILL receive the chapters unless you're in the *no reward* tier or you opt out using the linked Go...

This page went up for early access yesterday, but here's a notification for those of you who like to visit the main site:http://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p272/There's not much news this week that patrons don't already know - but if you didn't already catch the sphere placement quiz on Discord or tumblr, you can find a link on the new page post!

Chapter 4, Page 16

[1/8 edit: Here's a link to the page on the main site! http://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p272/Also, there's a link in the author comment for the sphere placement quiz if you missed it on Discord/tumblr. :D ]Woohoo, an early access page! Only one day, but better than nothing? I might be able to pull further ahead next week, if I don't get a lot of freelance and if I don't go overtime doing final edits for the last five chapters of Merritt's story.Hope y'all are ready for some good ol aspic. I think this is the fi...

[Poll] "Guest" Letters?

I hope you guys are all having an awesome Friday! :D I have a question for you. Since 2014, I've now sent out 38 letters from Pogo! (+1 bonus) I still enjoy making and sending the letters, and I have no plans of stopping them. But after so many years, I would like to get a bit of a creative recharge and mix things up.I was thinking that maybe this year, I could alternate between letters from Pogo and letters from a different character. So, for January I can send a letter from someone else, back to Pogo for February, a third character for Mar...

Pogo's December 2017 Letters Have Been Sent! (+some small changes)

Pogo's December 2017 letters have been sent out to all processed patrons, so you should be getting them soon. Email letters went out last night and this afternoon for those of you who get them digitally, so if you haven't received them yet, let me know. These are a couple days late, so thank you for bearing with me! To those of you who pledged on January 1 or later, January's letters will go out at the end of the month. This letter may or may not be inspired by my monthly struggles to print Pogo's snail mail letters. ^_^;So, the m...

Chapter 4, Page 15

Big size, and up on the main site with a new voting incentive! Don't forget: weekly updates in January! :Dhttp://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p271/In case you missed my previous post about it, I'm going to try to get Pogo's December email letters out tonight, but snail mail letters will go out tomorrow because postal holiday. ^_^ Also, I forgot to mention I finally added the 11 Inktobers I managed to finish to the Secret Gallery. They're still available in my Patreon timeline (including the nsfw one), but galleries are so...

Page tomorrow, Letters Tuesday, End of Month Reminder

Hey guys! I'm just giving you a quick heads up on my page/rewards schedule. We're getting weekly pages in January, so there will be a new page tomorrow! Pogo's letters will go out on Tuesday. The holiday schedule threw me off a little, and I forgot that mail isn't being delivered every day. But I'm very nearly back on schedule! \o/ The kinda spicy secret gallery illustration went up yesterday... The final 5 chapters of Merritt's story book 1 are still on track. I got comments back from all my beta readers, and after the ...

Chapter 4, Page 14

Big size, and up on the main site with a new special Christmas minicomic voting incentive!http://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p270/Remember, we get weekly pages in January thanks to hitting 7K subs on Webtoon! :D

Lil Pogo Sketch, Latest News!

Just sharing a sketch I did for one of my awesome beta readers! I'm horrible and still haven't dropped it in the mail, but I will do it this week! :D It's Pogo above ground in the observation deck of the Sears Tower, looking unusually calm and peaceful. :)We hit 7K subs on Webtoon! Why does that matter? Because Webtoon has a Patreon support program that pays by subscriber and pageview, and the amount I'm projected to make for December is enough to fund weekly DOTU pages in January! Unfortunately, the program is changing in 2018 ...

Devoted - Merritt's Story - Chapter 22

Chapter 22 is here! You can download the attached PDF or read it inline. Part of this was posted as an excerpt long, long ago... It's still probably my favorite chapter.Reminder: the next update is the finale of Part 1! It's going to be a big thing! ^_^ But because I plan to release several chapters at once, it's going to take me a little longer to get them edited and ready. I'm expecting ~3-4 weeks, but it'll be worth the wait! There will still be other stuff going on during the wait - comic pages, card portraits, a mini sk...

Patreon has canceled its new service fees!

A HUGE thanks to Patreon for listening to all of us! I'm so glad they took our feedback into account and decided to cancel the fees they were planning for 2018.If you are a patron who decreased or canceled your pledge and would like to increase or reinstate your pledge, well, that would make me very happy! Since I have a charge upfront campaign, you should be able to rejoin without being charged again until January. If you contacted Patreon to let them know that you were unhappy with the fees, please let them know that you're happy with ...

Chapter 4, Page 13

Big size, and up on the main site! I didn't finish it until around 4am, so it was too late to do early access this time around. Instead, I'm just putting it up on Patreon a few hours earlier than normal. Next page, I should be able to do early access again.http://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p269/Next chapter of Merritt's story is coming on Thursday too!

XDOnly people in the Sketch, Sketch+Secret Gallery, and Custom Card Tier will get this letter in the mail, but I figured I'd let all of you read it. ^_^And I also whipped up one additional sketch because a slot opened and someone took it so I needed another. Here it is: Noble's card portrait. (It was sent to someone who didn't make a request.)

[Important] Patreon's new service fee

[12/13 EDIT: Patreon has listened to user feedback and decided not to implement the new fee discussed in this message! I'm keeping the message for the sake of having a record, but please note that this information is outdated, and there will be no new service fee!]Today, Patreon sent out an email to creators letting them know that there's going to be a change in the way they process payments. Their email is set to go out to patrons tomorrow, but I wanted to let you know since people are already talking about it.Like any company that pro...

DOTU's Discord Server is Now Live!

As I mentioned in the last page update, I was working on putting together a Discord server for DOTU. Well, here it is! :D[Last updated 1/26/2021]For those of you who don't know, Discord is basically a chat app, kind of like IRC. I just wanted to give DOTU readers more of an opportunity to chat and hang out. It's all very casual. ^_^The server, general chat room (Yackleys!), and voice chat are open to everyone, but there are some additional rooms that are only available to $2+ patrons or $5+ patrons. If you don't have a Discord accoun...

Pogo's November 2017 Letters Have Been Sent!

Pogo's November 2017 letters have been sent out to all processed patrons, so you should be getting them soon. Email letters went out yesterday for those who get them digitally, so if you haven't received them, let me know. The $10.01 secret gallery illustration should go up later in the weekend.I normally send quarterly Sketch Tier sketches along with Pogo's letters, but since I got hammered with freelance/illness and fell quite behind last week, I didn't want to hold up ALL the rewards. So if you're a sketch tier patron, I&...

Annie, Help! D: (minicomic + reward status)

Pogo is late! D: D: D:Okay... I'm late. With November's monthly rewards. Illness and freelance just completely kicked my butt during the last week of the month that I'd reserved for Pogo's letters, Sketch Tier sketches, and the secret gallery drawing.Pogo's letters are, well, at exactly the state you see up above - printed but unpacked. I'm still going back and forth with a freelance client today, so I probably won't make it to the PO before it closes. Snail mail letters will definitely go out tomorrow, though. And e...

[Video] The Ferrets and I Review Redbubble Products

Now that the Redbubble shop is launched and I've received almost every sample, I figured I'd post a video so you could see the products better, in case you weren't sure about quality or what the difference was between the different print types.Hopefully this video would also be helpful if you're thinking about opening your own shop and don't want to have to order as many samples as I did, haha.If you're just here for the ferrets, I recommend watching 3:05-3:20, 3:25-4:05, and the end. ^_^ (Those are also the least inform...

Ch4P12 is up, News, RB Official Opening+Coupon

Here's your notice that DOTU chapter 4 page 12 went up, for those of you who like to visit the main site!http://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p268/Also, a couple of questions:1. To those of you who are pledging below $5 and who get email notifications, did you guys get a notification about this post with the large size ch4p12 today? - https://www.patreon.com/posts/chapter-4-page-15534561I'm still learning the logistics of the Early Access feature, and I'm trying to figure out if people get a notice when an early access page go...

Chapter 4, Page 12

Early access! Posting on Friday for $5 patrons!I hope y'all aren't overloaded with DOTU Patreon posts right now. :P Next week we'll be getting Sketch Tier sketches and other monthly rewards too.Did you guys all have a good Thanksgiving? How about an underground style Thanksgiving gathered around the drug chandelier? ^_^ (for real though, I steer clear of drugs but I did bring vodka and cranberry juice to Thanksgiving in lieu of cranberry sauce, so...)This post will become public on Monday.

Poster samples arrived 2 minutes after my last post :P

I wish I'd waited a couple more minutes before making my last post so I'm not bombarding all of you with email notifications! But the posters ("large" Battle illustration and "small" character line-up) and medium stickers I ordered just came in, and they turned out awesome! The actual prints look great, but the color is a little washed out and dark in the photo because of the not so great lighting in my house. Here are a couple close-ups that show the detail level (but there's a bit of glare because the posters are su...

RedBubble Samples + Black Friday Sale

I got in some samples from my RedBubble order! Above is the iPhone 7 Plus cell phone case ("snap" style, the cheaper one). It came out perfect and I'm super happy with the printing, and now I'm using it. XDI also got a bunch of small stickers! The stickers are made of a sort of thin vinyl-like material that's really durable, and you can peel them off and re-stick them. I really like that! The character stickers are individually die-cut too. Here's a pic, with a pen for scale.Several people have already ordered other stuf...

Chicago DOTU Inspiration Trip!

Some of you might remember from last year that I've been taking some trips downtown to get inspiration for DOTU, since it takes place "below Chicago" and I like to incorporate Chicago-looking stuff into the environments whenever I can. The above pic is a few examples of that.I got back from this year's Chicago trip a few days ago! It was really awesome, and I got tons of new inspiration, and this time I even got some pics from the top of the Sears Tower on a perfectly clear and sunny day. :O I also went to the Pritzker Military ...

Devoted - Merritt's Story - Chapter 21

Here's chapter 21 of Merritt's story! You can download the attached PDF or read it inline. If any of you have been stalking the table of contents page really closely (come on, admit it, I know all of you are! :P), you may have noticed that I originally planned for book 1 of the story to end and chapter 21, and now it's set to end at 25. This is because I ended up splitting an earlier chapter into two, and what I originally had as the final chapter will probably need to be split into three once I take it through edits. My plan is to p...

First Look at the RedBubble Products

Here are just a few of the products in my RedBubble shop! It's mostly set up. I've uploaded all the art I planned to do for my first run. I'll periodically add more (including one special miniskirt and set of leggings I have planned for the near future, haha...) But I figured this would be a decent selection for the holiday season, and I can get back to work on the card deck. You can see the rest of the shop here:https://www.redbubble.com/people/bob-artist/portfolioNavigation through products is a little finicky. The best way to see e...

DOTU Chapter 4, Page 11 is up, plus a new voting incentive!

Patrons already saw this page on Patreon last Thursday, but here's a notification for those of you who like to visit the main site.http://www.demonoftheunderground.com/comic/p267/There's also a ton of news, though a lot of it is stuff you patrons already know. ^_^For the next few updates, I'll be feeling out how the early access feature works, and how to manage notifications of page updates. Feel free to let me know your preferences! This time I posted the early access page to all patrons, but in the future it'll be to $5+ patro...

Card Portrait - 2154 Jordana

Well, I finished one! Hopefully I'll get more time later this week to work on card portraits again. So here's pre-rebellion Jordana! I decided to go with the soot-stained battle-ready Explosives Unit look. I really want the Explosives Unit to make a comeback, haha... (btw, we're gonna find out what happened to them on, like, the next page.)The top version of the card is how it appears in the comic, and the bottom version is the template I use for printed cards. The final printed card does have slightly rounded edges, though.Since thi...
