Hey, it's a new flagship feature! You can find our announcement post here. The announcement post has lots of visuals and offers workflow ideas and inspiration. This feature is ENORMOUS (and we're still in beta ;P). As with previous 0.X.0.0 releases, expect bugs and performance issues that will be sorted out in updates to follow.Build NotesAdded new flagship feature, Boards, a collaborative worldbuilding whiteboard. LK Weekly: Mork Borg Board Lords

Hey! It's Friday! Time for another weekly! 🦆BoardsIn case you missed Braden's post on Wednesday, we wanted to release Boards on the 1st but ran into some showstoppers--bugs so bad that you can't launch with them. After harnessing the power of open source, we think we've resolved the major issues. Many thanks to Steve, the maintainer of Tldraw. Boards has returned to the QA phase, and we believe we can launch on Monday. In preparation for bringing boards to the people, Adam recorded a 20+ minute video tutorial for boards... But...

A quick update on Boards

Hey folks! Just wanted to give a quick update. The original plan was to launch Boards today, but last night during a rigorous QA session, we discovered a few severe bugs. They are bad enough such that launching today is not an option.I'm still hacking away at it; we'll keep you updated. Thanks for your patience!Braden

LK Weekly: We don't have a Black Friday Sale but we do have cool updates

Boards is in the Quality Assurance phase. The expected launch is sometime next week if all goes well.At this point, LegendKeeper Boards, is in the "QA" phase. This means the core features and UX for launch are locked in, and we are just finding and crushing bugs. This QA process took up most of our week. Big thanks to team Hydra Slayers for checking it out and helping us find the weak spots. At our current pace, we are expecting to launch Boards sometime next week barring no major obstacles or show-stopping bugs.Adam spent some time wrap...

LK Weekly: Abyssal Boards

Progress on Boards: Possible launch end of next weekBraden has now had a chance to better understand the Boards integration and rewritten it to be production-ready. In addition, we now have a UI that more closely matches the overall LegendKeeper experience. There will be many things we are not happy with when we launch, but we are choosing to optimize for speed for this feature. We would prefer to launch Boards a bit sooner, knowing that some of our ideal UX features are still missing.(pictured: super scrappy arrow labels. We won't make you ...

Service Outage

Looks like some kind of mass service outage is happening. All LK services are down which is pretty bizarre; I'm unable to get on Discord; anyone else having Discord troubles?Since all LK services are down (there's quite a few, pretty rare to have them all go out at once), and Discord is not responding, I'm thinking Google Cloud's datacenters might have pooped themselves. Will update as I know more.Edit: yup, was a Google thing. It all came back up 20 mins or so later.

LK Weekly: Boards Progress and PAX U

Hey everyone! It's Weekly time!BoardsBoards are coming along swimmingly. Braden has patched up most of the syncing code, and Justin is examining the UI. The demo you saw last week used the native UI in the whiteboard library. While it's nice, LK must have a nice cohesive feel, so we'll be giving it an interface that matches the LK vibe. Plus, we want LK-specific power features, like dropping wiki cards into your whiteboards for maximum "corkboard murder mystery" shenanigans.Mucking around with boards has once again surfaced ...

LK Weekly: Surprise Feature Announcement - For those who color outside the lines...

For this LK Weekly, we're thrilled to announce a major new feature dropping soon. Seriously, remarkably soon (not SOON™️).(prototype UI, not final) Direct link if the Patreon video embed isn't working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxpn3VA2P1sHonestly, this is as much of a surprise to us as it is to you. As you can see on our Planned Features page, we were already interested in idea boards but didn't plan to build them for a long time. Last week, they weren't even at the top of our priority list. But sometimes, the world ch...

Shaping our Onboarding SprintWith Example Projects now live (have you checked them out yet?) we are focused on ironing out our main onboarding flows. LK Weekly: Attack of the clones

Hey squad! Braden here with another weekly. This one will be short and sweet! Adam is on vacation this week, somewhere deep in the woods away from technology... Perhaps he is studying to become a wizard.Example ProjectsNew folks often request advice or structure when it comes to starting their first project, which is why we're adding some example projects to LK. Adam has hand-crafted two juicy ones—one is an RPG campaign world complete with quests and content, and the other is a deep dive into the art of worldbuilding. When we launch thes...

LegendKeeper 0.9.2.5: Project duplication and re-ordering

Hiyo! Now that Hydra is relatively stable, I'm back on the feature train! Choo-choo! 🚂.Project DuplicationProject owners can now make an exact copy of a project, minus all the members. Use this feature to create backups, create a "template project" for future projects, branch your world for different game groups, etc.Project Re-orderingYou can now cosmetically re-organize your project list. Drag and drop to your desired order.Up next:Project duplication lays the foundation for example projects, so we'll be tackling that next....

LegendKeeper 0.9.2.4

This patch is just 0.9.2.3 minus the bug that crammed my logs with a bunch of phantom errors.Next up, project duplication and custom reordering, followed by our new example projects.I'm nearly done with project duplication; it's pretty handy! Thanks for hanging in there; I know patches that bring new features are more fun than stability updates.Braden

I want to hear your thoughts on LegendKeeper pricing!

Hey legend squad! Adam, Justin, and I have been thinking a lot about pricing lately. It's a challenging but essential exercise, and we figured who better to ask than all of you?Could you fill out this anonymous <1-minute survey?Survey LinkI appreciate your time and insight here. Pricing is honestly my least favorite topic 😫, but at the end of the day, it's something we gotta figure out. We want an accessible but sustainable pricepoint so we can make LK the best it can possibly be.Thanks again!Braden

LK Weekly: Hydra Slayers

This week: forward momentum on development, a blog index, and the second Example Project.Hydra SlayersAfter trying a number of different approaches to solving the bug from patch 0.9.2.3, Braden put out the call for help to some early testers of the legendary Hydra update on Discord. Within moments, we had some solid leads on this difficult bug. The key insight: Help from our community is a superpower! We have created the #hydra-slayers private channel in Discord to facilitate these types of bug bashes in the future. If you are interested in help...

LK Weekly: Symbols, Magic, Bugs

Hey folks, Braden here with another weekly. I've been moving apartments for the last week, so not much to say on the feature development front.Buggin'In the middle of my move, users started reporting issues with LK. I discovered the 0.9.2.3 patch Tuesday last week introduced a severe but quiet bug in the sync system. It was a nasty one with the worst timing possible---I was disconnected from the internet completely at the time. Eventually, I was able to roll back to a good LK version, but I only unpacked my desk yesterday, so I haven&#3...

Version rollback; action required

Hi folks, this morning I detected a major bug in the system. Still investigating; in the meantime I have rolled back LK's version to 0.9.2.2.Please:Shift+Refresh to roll back to 0.9.2.2.

LK Weekly: Corvus Canticum's Natural History

It's been a pretty quiet week this week with both Braden and Justin moving, so this weekly will be brief.Short-term RoadmapOur short term roadmap looks something like this, in order: Improve User Onboarding (Example Projects, Starter Projects, Better hints and blank states) Editor V3We hope to finish both of these As Fast As Humanly Possible. A lot of progress has already been made on the new Editor, and many of the associated design-system challenges have been ironed out.If you want to see the long-tail of planned features (not in any part...

LegendKeeper 0.9.2.3

* Bug fixes* Code cleanup and reorganizationNot much to visually appreciate in this update; mostly just some housekeeping! Details below 4nerdz.Technical DetailsI know updates like this aren't the most exciting, but they play an essential role in the long-term success of LK. Housekeeping vs. forward development is always a balancing act. You don't want to clean stuff up when you could be shipping new features unless the technical debt is actively standing in the way of something. In this case, the Hydra update was a significant upheaval ...

LK Weekly: Banners, spaghetti, and sneak peeks!

Hey peeps, Braden here with another LK Weekly! We've been busy bees--here's what we're up to:Banner PackAdam has created a sweet banner pack for use in LegendKeeper, or wherever else. These colorful, alchemical banners are great for representing factions, families, cults, schools of magic; what have you. Grab them in PNG and SVG format here.Spaghetti WranglingWith the fabled Hydra update a few months behind us now, it was time to get things organized. Especially with Adam (and someday more folks) helping with development, LK's c...

LK Weekly: a Window(!) to the future

Hey everyone, it's time for another LK Weekly update!Design SystemAs mentioned in the last weekly, Justin is working on a new version of the LegendKeeper Design System. (A design system is a set of UI and UX components and rules for building applications). We've got big dreams for this system—it's gotta be powerful, but flexible enough for future exercises like theming and customization. What better way to flex it than to give the system a nice challenge? Can the system support two wildly different themes? I guess we'll see......

LegendKeeper 0.9.2.1: Bug fixes

Heyo folks! A few bug fixes, a few tweaks that will hopefully smooth the learning curve a bit. More on this later today in our weekly update!* The search button and activity button have swapped places. Many people weren't able to find search; the theory here is the top right is a more natural place for it. The activity stream is still mostly busted; it only shows join and leave events for users. It'll take a good bit of work to get it tracking edits again; this was a purposeful scope-cut to help get Hydra out faster.* Added an invite bu...

LegendKeeper 0.9.2.0: New pin styles

* New banner shape for pins* New marker shape for pins* New icon-only pin type* Various bug and style fixesWhile we are conjuring up our big juicy editor update, we wanted to keep the update train rolling! This small update provides more options for pins in the Atlas. If you don't count image pins, this puts the number of built-in pin options at around ~63,000 variants. :DThanks for your patience with the editor update; it's a large undertaking, but one that will improve the LegendKeeper experience a ton! Finally thank you all for provid...
