This is the first dreadnought guitar I got when I was 13 years old. My dad, Ed, picked it up from a buddy named “Dulcimer Dan” who sold second hand and repaired instruments at the Kerville Folk Fest. Ed and Dan used to play music together as the Crestone Mountain String Band and recorded an album called “Its So Good.” The title track is a song my Dad wrote for my Mom. Yes, Another Nahko Tune!

More practice vids. Nahko and Medicine for the People is another favorite band of ours. This song is Creation’s Daughter. We have found so much healing and inspiration in their music. Several times when we’ve felt defeated and helpless, Nahko was the music that refueled our souls and helped us regain the drive to keep moving.

Uke Practice

I’ve been learning a few easy songs on ukulele. Twenty One Pilots are one of our favorite bands. This song is called House of Gold. We built our house to their music. I love Izzy razzing the kitty in the back😆 but we did make him stop. He’s going through a phase thing.

New Year New Tracks

We’re finally putting together a new recording for our song “The Dust Blows Hard”. We previously have only recorded it during a live jam session, which we live the sound of, but we decided the song in general needed a refresher. Abe’s bringing all the instruments for this one including a tin bucket guitar I made years ago and the same bucket we played in our song “Mole in the Cuckoo” from our album The Thickwood Bramble. This is one of our favorite songs to perform! Can’t wait to share the audio with you ASAP!

A little look inside our evenings. Our days generally start around 5am. Abe heads to work solving food justice issues while Izzy and I work on various projects inside and outside if possible all day until dusk. Izzy has a brief night play sesh in the garden chasing kitties before we hunker down for the night with hot food and music videos until he falls asleep and then Abe and I will work on projects till we’re too tired to think. One thing we are are all about is planning and transparency. We never like jumping into anything unprepared. We are not so much the fly by the seat of your pants types. We like rigorous power meetings to discuss the pros, cons and in-betweens of just about everything. We love a good bullet pointed list along with order and repetition. The quintessential Abe and Izzy! It’s definitely interesting trying to accomplish anything around here. These two are practically inseparable. Being in the garden together is so nice anytime of year. One thing we love is to play music outside on nicer days which also provides Izzy with a wide array of distractions to let us get through a song or two at a time. Our editing program randomly chooses colors every time you add a track. We were pleasantly surprised when we realized that the tracks we chose to save were also some of our favorite colors. Purple, yellow, blue and green These are Abe’s tracks. Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and Back up vocals.

Which music video should we focus on completing next? Abe noodles all. the. time. He noodles so much that we've had to reserve a special time for him outside of actual practice so he can goof. Here he is noodling in the garden. The kitty that jumps down in the beginning is Sconemah. The guitar Abe is playing is his Martin which he won in a raffle at the Crestone Music Festival. Abe plays a song

Abe playing a tune in the back yard on a Colorado winter day. This little shed behind him was one of the first structures I built out here. Its roof is an old futon frame. This little junction between the bunk house camper and the main house is one of my favorite spots in the garden. I keep my favorite garden tools here. In the summer hollyhocks from seeds my mom/Patron Sheri gave me grow here. We’ll revisit this space in the summer.

We have so many clips of our farm and ranch. We thought we'd share a few videos we took from our most recent Colorado snow day here on the Jack Rabbit Hollow Farm.
