BBR Ch5 pencils
Our annual NYCC con crud is finally over, and I've been spending the past week in back in a pencils cycle! (my work flow tends to be chapter script >> full chapter thumbnails >> break thumbnails into individual scenes/color sequences >> pencil a scene >> ink that scene >> color notes on that scene for colorist >> start cycle again for next scene from pencils)I've started my 30th (!) audiobook of the year, I just finished Daemon Voices by Philip Pullman (a collection of essays about writing, read by the author) and just started Wild Magi...
A mysterious object has arrived .....
Flash back to April Fools, we posted an illustration as a "joke"... but in reality I'd done the art months before and had been looking for a place that would produce custom mini body pillows!Our friend Hannako was able to connect the dots between us and a manufacturer and (shhhh) we're going to have a VERY SMALL NUMBER of mini dakimakura at NYCC!!!! We might have them at other shows in the future, but we didn't do a whole lot for a first run.These ARE actually keychains, you unfortunately can't see the little lanyards in...

I wrote up this whole thing and patreon deleted it and completely replaced it with the first 5 words of my first draft sentence whyyyyyyyyAnyway, more or less the jist of what I said earlier was: there's not a lot of character-centric art I can share from chapter 5 without spoiling enormous plot points of the story!!! So I'm going to at least try and share some things I spent a long time on - and I might have spent TOO MUCH TIME on this panel hahaHave a good weekend everyone!

OK Cat (revisited)
I've been wanting to revisit this design for a while, I feel like my sensibilities as a designer have improved since OK Cat first came out and I wanted to give it another go!Now it's weird for me to look at the original design ha ha:I'm personally a fan of the little eyebrow over the "K" in the new version to the right but also feel like it might muddy the "OK" readability. "OḰ"I dunno, what do you think!

(Dragalia Lost) Phantom fanart - colored
Finished???? I guess???????? I have very little experience with a more airbrushed style like this so I'm gonna say it's done and put this out of my mind haha.Phantom is supposed to be a Tortured Dude Who Was Imprisoned Between Worlds For A Crime He Did Not Commit so I tried to steer him into a Sirius Black direction which wound up 100% accidentally turning fully into palette-swap Viral from Gurren Lagann.

HE GOT INKED!!! This one was so strange for me, because I'm trying to match the Dragalia Lost sprite style I had to use a finer and cleaner line than I'm used to. I'm up to my neck in comics work so I'll work on this more... later hahaha
Rejected Merch: NI69
I completely forgot about this, but the store update reminded me - there was a brief moment in time I was considering making a ??tropical NI69 vinyl sticker/patch?? I asked around with various versions of this and the general consensus was that it detracted from the purpose of the design, so it was Canned Forever. I had a fun time drawing some monstera though hahaALSO, if there's something you'd like a NI69 design on give me a yell in the comments!! I can't promise anything but I'd like to hear what you'd like!
