Animations length Poll
Hi dear patrons, ever since I got back at animating, I've been wondering if you patrons would allow me to make one single animation in the span of months. Animation is a very demanding task, especially for a single person. Understandably, most of the good solo 2D animators stick to short animated loops in order to maintain a steady output. When I started the Jucika Cabaret animation, I hoped I would be able to complete it in a single month. Unfortunately I realized halfway through that no matter how much I simplified the artstyle, a lengthy ...

Work In Progress: Jucika Cabaret Animation (final part)
Phew, it took 2 months and a lot of patience to finish this animation! This is the longest animation I've ever done (137 frames!!!) and making it a full scene in a single shot was pretty challenging. I made some extra efforts at making transitions between the poses as seamless as possible while also making sure Jucika's proportions remain relatively stable.I completed it a few minutes ago and yet I already notice flaws. It's by no means a masterpiece but I'm proud of this accomplishment. It's a very significant step at impro...
Work In Progress: Jucika Cabaret Animation (part 3)
Hi dear patrons,I finally completed the lineart animation! Even though I've been through some quite tough days during March, I took my time and gave it as much polish I could afford. I think I made around 130 frames (probably more but I will provide a more accurate count later) of mostly handmade drawings, but with a few tweening/stretching tricks to add some bouncy effects. The frame pacing isn't definitive, so the end product will be way slower with longer animated loops.See you very soon with the finished product!NT
***Delay Notice***
Hi dear patrons,I'm doing okay since the last post but I wanted to inform you about the delay of my ongoing animation. Despite choosing the simple flat colored Jucika artstyle, the overall amount of work was way beyond my expectations(again). I have 80 completed frames so far and I'm afraid it will be over an hundred by the time I'm done! I saw an animator veteran doing similar scheduling mistakes so I'm not going hard on myself and take this situation with humor.Hopefully the animation will be completed mid-next week shortly be...

Work In Progress: Jucika Cabaret Animation (part 2)
Hey dear patrons, first I'd like to apologize for not finishing the full animation this month. I knew all along that it was too much work but I wanted to push my own limits. I really tried to push the polish and consistency of the character's proportions, all in a single sequence. Learning the hard way again I guess... (=3=)You can see here the animation's status.(the animation timing isn't definitive) My plan is to finish the rest of the animation in March. The biggest part is already done so I think it's a matter of a few w...
Work In Progress: Jucika Cabaret Animation
Hello dear patrons, unlike last month I had a fine week so I don't have the same excuse for being behing on the monthly animation. I decided to make this cabaret like show starring Jucika, assuming that the simple artstyle combined with flat colors would allow me to elaborate on the "choreography". I'm working right now on the keyframes cleanup and it's way harder than expected since I need to really put some efforts to make them look good and consistent. Inbetween frames won't be as demanding afterward but I'm not th...

Animation Styles Poll
Hello dear patrons, I'm wondering what animation styles you like most. I'm personally a huge animation nerd and enjoy a wide range of animated art styles with each one having its own pro and cons.Detailed drawings means a lot of time spent on each frame, while simple art often (but not always) means less time on each drawing. Then on one end you can have a nice detailed but very short animation while the simple style can have a longer duration and/or smoother in terms of framerate. I find both approach to be valid, but if someday I choo...
