July/August Donation Update + Project Updates!
Greetings patrons and visitors! For this update, I wanted to first say thank you for continuing to follow and/or subscribe to this Patreon. I am quite grateful that so many fellow Ghostbuster builders have taken an interest in using the 3D files and ideas in their own work here. After a hot, sweltering summer, I can feel the Halloween season is almost upon us and I am personally ramping up my own maker efforts to prepare for my favorite time of the year.First off, as an update to my Patreon donation efforts, I have made some donations to a few o...
EXCLUSIVE - XGB Proton Pack - PART 2 - Dispenser Shell
Okay - so I'm not sure what the Extreme pack parts are actually called (if anyone has a diagram with official-ish names, that'd be awesome) in this case, I'll simply call this the 'dispenser'?These are larger parts but still will fit an Ender 3 plate size!A few notes: The sides should be securely glued down - especially the side with the V-Hook. V-Hook screws can pass through the side and secured on the inside (note that the interior of the lower shell has an accessible hole to that side) The side plates will connect the dis...
3D Printed Hasbro MOD Tripod Mount/Battery Cover
Looking for a quick project? This print is a variation of my Hasbro Blaster MOD V-Hook battery cover released last year. I thought it'd be interesting to have the ability to have a version that could attach to a standard camera tripod for display (or remote blasting!)This print is one part and takes around 1.5 hours to print on standard settings. It can be traded in with the battery cover that comes stock with the Hasbro Blaster MOD.I just picked up another Hasbro Blaster that I intend to give a nice black finish for this!
EXCLUSIVE - XGB Proton Pack - PART 1 - Shell Cannister Crate
Get your printers ready - I have the first round of parts for the Extreme Ghostbusters Proton Pack ready to go. This process will go a bit differently than the past as I am not personally building these parts in the immediate future. I don't have enough room for another proton pack in my life. (but maybe some day!)As such, I'll be looking forward to seeing what YOU all make with these files. This first round of files is for the back side of the pack that houses the proton cannisters. This portion of the pack is designed to hold the same ...
EXCLUSIVE - 3D Printable Spirit/Rubies PKE Shell Upgrade
The Spirit PKE meter (also known as the Rubies PKE) has been a staple in my costuming over the years - but has escaped my modding interests. I've seen some great paint jobs and electronics mods for the Spirit PKE over the years - but I guess I never got around to tinkering with it. It looked good enough on my belt holster and that was enough for me... until now.The Spirit PKE shell is a passable approximation of what we saw on screen, but there are some key differences that started to get the wheels turning. Geometrically, the movie prop ha...
3D Printed Kid's Proton Pack Files and Instructions
Who remembers getting their first proton pack as a kid?Maybe it was a cardboard box with some straps. Maybe it was a black backpack with some hot glued wires. Maybe you were lucky enough to get the old Kenner roleplay toy.For my nephew's 5th birthday, I decided to take on building him his very first proton pack using 3D printing! He has been very interested in Ghostbusters - like my son was at that age. He loves Afterlife and the Playmobil toys. I wanted to create a build that was simple(r) in construction and also durable enough to hold up...
EXCLUSIVE - Complete 3D Printable Extreme Neutrona Blaster
It has been a few weeks since the last part release for the Extreme Neutrona Blaster - and it seems this project has been quite popular! I have been very happy to see a number of builds going on Instagram! Access the interactive 3D build dashboard here! Here is the official release post complete with a 3D dashboard report to help you keep things organized. Since releasing the first run of files, I have made a few modifications to the design... As I am working out the Extreme Proton Pack, I realized I needed a good attachment strategy. In this re...
May/June Donation Update + Project Updates!
Greetings!I know the Patreon/Instagram has been a bit quiet lately. Towards the end of May, I had a staff shakeup in my 'real business' so I've been doubling up on my professional responsibilities. With that said, I have a few key updates to share regarding this Patreon's charitable giving campaign AND some project updates!Back in April, I turned 39 and decided to make some health + lifestyle changes. I'm dieting I took up a daily swimming exercise routine and will soon be hitting a weight loss milestone and moving into "...
Exclusive - XGB Neutrona Blaster PART 5 - Canister (WIP)
To round out the parts for the Extreme Ghostbusters Neutrona Blaster, here is my current design for the canister!I designed this part to be detachable. It can slot into the blaster port and small twist will lock it into place. Additionally, the main shell is two parts - I printed my outer shell using a gold metallic PLA. The inside shell is meant to be translucent with the idea that you could add lights to the interior.Happy building!
Exclusive - XGB Neutrona Blaster PART 5 - Handle (WIP)
Get a grip! This handle is a very simple - a few pipes, an elbow, and a 'screw on' hose connector. There are machine screw holes but you may want to further secure the pipe and elbow with epoxy for added rigidity.
Exclusive - XGB Neutrona Blaster PART 4 - Trigger (WIP)
A blaster wouldn't be any good without a trigger! Here is the trigger mechanism I designed for the Extreme Neutrona Blaster. The main body inserts into the control armature and is designed with a 90 degree "slot" to allow the control arm to rotate. This part can be secured using a single 4 mm machine screw. For the trigger, there is a "flex" piece that can be printed to give it a 'spring action'I printed mine using relatively standard PLA print settings.
Exclusive - XGB Neutrona Blaster PART 3 - Front Box (WIP)
Yeah... so... it's a box. This hooks up to the front of the Control Arm - and should make for a great spot to build in some future electronics. This can be attached to the Control Arm using 3 mm hex cap screws. 4 mm hex cap screws will attach the lid.Keep on building! :)
Exclusive - XGB Neutrona Blaster PART 2 - Control Arm (WIP)
Next up - the blaster control arm! The previously released barrel should plug securely into the front ring. The rear handle will have a design to allow this arm to rotate/pivot as well (coming soon!)I printing the main part all as one piece in the upright position. The 'copper' rings are a detail embellishment and reinforce the tube connections.I am using 3mm hex cap head screws throughout this part to connect them together.
Exclusive - XGB Neutrona Blaster PART 1 - Barrel (WIP)
I'm going to be shaking up my process a bit - normally I release files for my projects after I have been able to do a 'first build'. This helps me iron out the kinks in my files or change things up if I feel like it. Recently, I embarked on designing Extreme Ghostbusters-related props starting with the Neutrona Blaster. My free time has been a bit more limited lately. To complete the whole piece and then release it would take a bit longer than I would like - especially when it comes to keeping a stream of content for you all. I have ...
April 2022 Patreon Charitable Pledge Update!
Greetings patrons and visitors,In April, I have decided to give to an organization I have donated to in the past: No Kid Hungry 's mission is to end childhood hunger in the United States. They help to fund school mean programs and distribute grants to schools, food banks and community groups across the nation to fund meal programs benefitting kids.Going into summer, I recently announced on IGTV that I am ramping up some new projects for this Patreon - including life-size 3D printable props based on the Extreme Ghostbusters! Look for updates...
Extreme Barrel for Hasbro Proton Blaster MOD
As I was working on the Extreme Ghostbusters Proton Blaster, I thought it would be fun to take a the barrel part and release an MOD barrel as a bit of a 'teaser'. Like the previous released MOD parts, this piece can be printed and slip right on to Hasbro's Proton Blaster MOD toy! After a short exclusivity window, this part will be made available for free on May 6!I am making this material and content for the 3D Printed parts available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. Getting Extreme....IGTV Livestream on 4/28 at 9PM Central
If you have been following my Instagram stories in the last week, it's no secret that I have begun designing some new props based on the Extreme Ghostbusters. Tomorrow on the IGTV livestream, I'll do a walkthrough of my current progress on the Proton Blaster. Join me tomorrow on IGTV for a first look!(I hope to have the parts published for this very soon!)
Exclusive - Firehouse Arcade Cabinet and Weapons Stand
The firehouse's second floor needed a few more furnishings to 'bring the room together'. I created some arcade cabinets and a stand designed to display the 'fright feature' weapons. These parts will round out the Firehouse (for now) -- I have a big project planned next that more than a few have been asking me to try.....!Now Peter can play video games while the rest of the crew works on some new gear!I am making this material and content for the 3D Printed parts available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-...
EXCLUSIVE - Kenner Firehouse Movie Containment Unit + Testing Station
Yeah - it's April 1 but this is no joke! This STL file package provides playset modules to attached to Garage Bay 2. THe modules include a movie-inspired Ecto Containment Unit and a "Testing Station" for figures to try out their equipment. The movie Containment Unit is especially fun for those of you who have not yet built the large Ecto Containment Unity Playset. The addition of these modules really create a 'complete' feel to the first floor of the Firehouse. You can park the Ecto-1 and give the figures something to do while...
EXCLUSIVE - Kenner Firehouse 'Garage Bay 2'
To follow up on my Kenner Firehouse garage upgrades, I have created another garage bay that can be used for expanded play features on the first floor. This platform plugs right into the Firehouse Garage Platform that I published earlier this month! It also includes a "Ramp" module that can allow the Ecto-1 to drive in from the back. You'll note that the 3D print includes 'notches' that can receive additional modules. I have already created plug-and-play extensions for a movie-style containment unit and 'testing station...
Author's intent regarding licenses, sharing, attribution, etc.
Greetings patrons and visitors,I wanted to address something I have been increasingly asked about when it comes to the licensing of the work and files published here on the Ghostbusters Gear Patreon. There have been a few recent instances where my friends in the builder community have reached out to alert me that they have seen advertised services with the Ghostbusters Gear content. Others have reported that they have seen alternative resources containing unmodified 'exclusive' files originally published here.In this context, I thought i...
Would You Use a Discord Chat Server for Ghostbusters Gear?
I've been considering the creation of a Discord chat server for Ghostbusters Gear Patrons (and invited guests.) The idea would be to give subscribers the ability to interact with each other, share their builds, suggest ideas, and ask questions. You know - interactive community building stuff! If I created this benefit for Patrons, would you use it? Would it be valuable to you to have more direct interaction with myself and other Patrons?Maintaining a Discord community takes effort and I'm trying to gauge if it would be valuable to you al...
March 2022 Patreon Charitable Pledge Update!
Greeting Patrons and visitors! This month I would like to announce a donation to the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Like many of you, I have been shocked to see the events unfold in Ukraine. The IRC is a humanitarian aid and relief organization and they have been mobilizing their efforts to provide relief to children and families affected. From their website: "Over 3.5 million refugees have been forced to flee Ukraine. The IRC is on the ground in Poland supporting displaced children and families with vital supplies."To meet my Patr...
What if I don't have a 3D printer? - Some advice!
The question I most often get asked regarding the things I publish here - "What if I don't have a 3D printer?"As many of you know, I don't take on commissions or sell physical prints. The primary reason is that my day-to-day obligations would not allow me to keep up! The effort and time required in doing 'part runs' or taking on commissions is often underestimated and I respect anyone that is able to do it right! This is why I've opted to publish files for fellow makers and builders here. However, this does seemingly ...
Custom R.T.V. Body for Arrma Voltage RC 2WD 1/10 Truck
There are many flavors of R.T.V.s (Remote Trap Vehicle) popping up these days. The Ghostbusters Afterlife prop is arguably one of the most creative concepts in the new movie and was the focus of two extremely fun ghost chasing sequences.Admittedly, I'm a bit of a novice to the RC hobby world. The 'screen accurate' prop used an RC rig that is quite expensive. As an alternative, I came on the Arrma Voltage RC 2WD 1/10 truck as an affordable point of entry (retails ~$120 USD). The Voltage is fast, fun, and much easier on the pocket boo...
EXCLUSIVE - Firehouse Proton Charging Stations
This one takes some creative liberties...To build on my extended Firehouse garage platform, I thought it would be interesting to have a place for the Kenner Ghostbusters to hang their packs and charge them up. I also wanted a spot to station the roof mounted gunners chair when not in use. These 3D printable modules build out the garage features of the Kenner firehouse with some functional items useful for display (and play). The proton pack chargers can be used to display the original Kenner packs or my 3D printable upgrades. No permanent alterna...
February 2022 Patreon Charitable Pledge Update!
Greeting Patrons and visitors!Taking a time out from the world of Ghostbusters and 3D printing for a second - I'm sure many of you have been following the shocking aggressive acts by the Russian state on the nation of Ukraine. While I claim to be no expert on geopolitics or war, one thing I do know is that these events leave innocent children and families in extremely dangerous and uncertain situations. To meet my Patreon pledge goal for the month of February, I have made a $210 donation to UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) who are...
EXCLUSIVE - A Few Misc. RGB Proton Pack Fittings
There are a few little details on the RGB pack that I realized I hadn't published yet! This post incudes: An upgrade to an injector 'hose fitting' which is more accurate to what we saw in the cartoon. A loom/hose adaptor to help connect a 0.5" loom hose to the wand handle and pack. (I had made this as an improvised part because my hose didn't quite fit... maybe this can help others!)I am making this material and content for the 3D Printed parts available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 Int...
EXCLUSIVE - Kenner Firehouse Garage Platform
A firehouse playset that can hold the full length of the Ectomobile? It wasn't a reality in the 80s but thanks to 3D printing we can finally give the Ecto-1 a proper platform. This 3D file is designed to slide right on top of the base platform of the Firehouse playset. You'll also notice there are some plugs on the side edges to allow for future playset expansions to give the Ghostbusters HQ some additional play value. (I am currently printing a "proton charging" station to hang some packs! Coming soon!No permanent alternations a...
EXCLUSIVE - Kenner Firehouse 2nd Floor 3D Print
The Kenner Ghostbusters Firehouse is an iconic vintage playset - but it's not without opportunities to be improved.A key design flaw, in my view, is the lack of a proper 2nd floor. In the original design, we are given a partial L-shaped 2nd floor - it's more of a mezzanine and there aren't many options for play or display. Here I have published my 'upgrade' for adding in a more complete 2nd floor that can be installed in your Kenner firehouse. I used standard print resolution (0.2mm layer height) and a 15% infill setting. The ...
