Concept Art - Congruity Vehicles

The Dragoons came together fairly quickly, though I went through a few variations of the Carriers. Eventually I settled on the bottom right design (which will be more visible in upcoming pages).Fun fact: all Department of Congruity land vehicles are aesthetic variations on a 1930 KJ Henderson Custom motorcycle, while the air vehicles like the Carriers are based on locomotives designed by Raymond Loewy in the 1930s.

Originally I had Amon Harthrow wearing armor for their assault on the Kusanagi home, but decided it was excessive. Instead I just went with a cape, and prefer to believe it's not standard-issue and that he brought it from home to look important.

Training began each morning in the park of Tian Tan, the Temple of Heaven. It's a massive complex with tons of little corners and forests where some of the top martial artists in Beijing train. As most of you probably know, most of Dark Science is written ages in advance, but now and again I’ll rewrite or tweak things once I get close to drawing a page. This page went through several versions this month, as my portrayal of law enforcement in Nephilopolis ended up coming way to close to America’s police violence epidemic we’re currently dealing with.
