My oldest son has been obsessed with axolotls since he was five (he's nine now). He also enjoys playing card/tabletop games. So for the past few months I've been designing/workshopping/playtesting an axolotl game to surprise him with, called Axe-A-Lot-L.It pretty much writes itself; the goal of the game is to chop the limbs off other players with axes until you're the last one (literally) standing. My boys are at an age where they're keenly interested in things being "fair," yet not old enough to have the perspective to see the bigger picture, and grasp that things all shake out roughly even eventually anyway. Or they don't, and that's just life.We went on vacation a couple of weeks ago, and I feel like I spent the whole week keeping track of who's turn it was to press the elevator button, who's turn it was to use the room key, etc.

I've played every Monster Hunter game in the past sixteen years (except the China-only MMO), and as much as I love the franchise, I often struggle to remember which features and monsters went with which games.While I'm playing, all that knowledge for the current game is front and center, but once I'm finished with a MH game, it just gets dumped into the big memory pot. I could point out a Jaggi from a Baggi from a Boggi from a Gendrome, but damned if I could remember exactly which games they were from or where I fought them.
