In many of my practices, I try to replicate photos and to study mainly the "Lines of Action". Lines of action help a pose have fluidity, whether it is the line of the spine or that of various limbs in the body. I also usually study the muscles, so that I don't lose practice in what I know best lol. I always relate muscles to geometric shapes and that facilitates simplicity.
