From Here - Process 🌙✨

Hello Patrons! ✨Here’s the process breakdown of From Here. Since I’ve been listening to a lot of classical music, I’ve been really inspired to create princess scenes. I usually don’t work with too many purples, but I wanted to try it and combine it with warmer hues. 💜I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I choose colours; my process depends on the piece! Usually, I think about the scene first, whether it’s set in the daytime or nighttime! For this particular scene, I was pretty sold on setting the scene during the nigh...

✶📚 Book Cover - Process Breakdown 📚✶

Hello Patrons! When I'm not working on personal work, I work on book projects for clients! I thought I would take you on a little journey of how I created the book cover for "Best Wishes" by Sarah Mlynowski The process is quite different from personal work since working on projects like this is usually divided into 3-4 stages: Sketches Revised sketches/flat colours Final work Revisions (if requested)When I was approached to create the cover for Best Wishes, I was very excited since the premise of the book is full of friendship, whims...

Witchtober 2 - Morning Walk 🧺🍂🪵 - Process + Timelapse Video

Hi Patrons!I finished another Witchtober painting! I’m very happy with how this one turned out! 🧡🧺I was initially inspired by Shirakawa-go in Japan and wanted to add a village. However, I eventually decided to take it out since it looked too busy. I was also really inspired by Rapunzel’s and Enchanted’s concept art backgrounds, so I decided to add some whimsy shapes to the trees. I hope to push my shape language in the future and see other creative ways I can alter organic shapes.I’ve been inspired by the fall colours lately, so I...

Witchtober - Autumn Falls - Process 🧹🍂

Hello Patrons 🧡I want to talk about my process of painting here! I added the two timelapse videos to the attachment so you could watch how I created the initial process! For this painting, I used Procreate for 40% of the process. I usually transfer it to Photoshop after I have the sketch done, but I want to try to use Procreate more since I like using my custom brushes there and Max Ulchiney’s watercolour brushes. For the sketch, I had an idea of painting a small witch surrounded by the giant roots of a tree. I originally wanted to create a ...

I already posted some of the photos on Instagram, but I thought I’d go more in-depth here!Last weekend, I had the opportunity to exhibit at Lightbox Expo!My first time attending this convention was in 2019! I went with my sister, and we had so much fun meeting artists, going to panels, and buying art merch! In 2020, I applied for a table but was rejected! Then when they announced they’re bringing back the in-person convention this year, I applied on a whim, thinking I might...

Hello Patrons!I thought I should share some very rough sketches of the first two witchtober pieces! I really want to do 3-4 this month so I’ll be working on that after I’m back from Lightbox! 🧡I always feel a little embarrassed sharing my sketches since they never look “polished” or “clean” haha they’re always a bundle of mess. The first piece I want to paint is inspired by the Arno river in Florence! I really want to capture the magical dawn colours. I’m having a little trouble with this piece since I still want to capture th...

Have an amazing day!Maxine

Comfort in Stories 📚🦊🐉 - Timelapse Videos

Hello everyone! 🧡Thank you for voting in the latest poll! Since Cozy Room won the vote, I wanted to create something whimsical. ✨I wanted to play along with the meaning of "cozy" and how the word can be interpreted differently. When I get stressed or need a break, I always turn to stories or films, and shows as an escape. For this painting, I wanted to stray away from just painting a cozy room but having a bit more of a playful theme to this. 😊I knew I wanted to create a piece that features a character drifting away in her dream...

Autumnal Gathering - Process

Hello Patrons! 🧡How are you doing today? Here’s my new painting process for the Autumnal Gathering! 🍂☕️🪵I originally wanted to set the mood for a midday picnic but decided to change it up and challenge myself by painting a moonlit scene!I actually don't hold a lot of picnics during fall since it can get really chilly but I do appreciate seeing photos of picnic gatherings in the forests filled with autumn leaves! I'm hoping to go on more hiking trails with my partner during fall and perhaps we bring some picnic things to re...

Doggust Day 4 - Timelapse video + Updates 💜

Hello Patrons 💜How are you all doing this week? 🌼It makes me so happy to see orders arriving! I worked on a new Doggust yesterday and wanted to paint a Samoyed! These dogs are so fluffy and cute, I just had to draw them! I did find their fur to be quite challenging to paint at first since they’re so fluffy and round so I still wanted to add some definition without losing the sense of fluffiness haha! 😅✨There were a lot of photos of Samoyeds in the lavender field so I wanted to paint this one in a cooler palette. 💜💙I’ve atta...
