Hello Patrons! How are you all doing this week? ๐ฅฐIs anyone else having a hard time adjusting to the evenings for those who observe daylight savings? it has gotten so dark by 4pm ๐ ! Itโs so much fun painting them! I hope to finish it soon but this one will have a lot of little details so Iโm taking my time ๐๐! Iโm going to open the pa...

Witchtober #3 - Midnight Spells ๐ฎ๐ฏ - Process
Hello Patrons ๐คHalloween is so soon! ๐ I wanted to continue, the world from the first Witchtober! This time I wanted to focus on the interiors! Two witches spend the midnight summoning a forbidden guardian spell in the Ruby Quarter Room! ๐ฎ๐ฏIโve always been a little wary doing some action/more story-driven pieces since I donโt have much experience painting them but this was SO MUCH FUN! ๐๐ Conceptualizing the characters, thinking about the world they live in and what kind of rooms inhabit this witchy world, is so fun to crea...

Witchtober #2 - Mist - Process
Hello Patrons ๐คHereโs the process of my second watchtower piece! Iโm currently working on the third piece for this month!I wanted to keep this one fairly simple since I wanted to try using a muted palette! I usually gravitate towards bright warms and ethereal cool tones, so I wanted to see if I could do something different especially for the spooky season! ๐ป๐ฏ๐Iโm a big sucker for foggy atmospheric paintings, so whenever I get a chance to do witches, I like adding some fog or mist around the painting haha!Thank you all so much ...
Witchtober #2 - Mist - Early Access
Hello Patrons ๐คI recently came back from a short trip from Quebec. I celebrated Thanksgiving with my partnerโs family! ๐๐ชตI was very fortunate enough to catch the fall colours. We also had some gloomy weather and cold rain. So I was inspired to create this moody piece! I love doing witchtober because of the versatility of the themesโfrom magical to spooky! haha โจI will post the process sometime this week! Happy Friday the 13th!! ๐ป๐ฏ๐Love always,Maxine

Hello Patrons ๐Hereโs the first Witchtober piece! This one is a bit more fantasy and mystical compared to the other witches Iโve done in the past! Witchtober #1 - Night Magic ๐ฎ๐๐ช - Process
Hello Patrons ๐Hereโs the first Witchtober piece! This one is a bit more fantasy and mystical compared to the other witches Iโve done in the past! Itโs inspired by a photo I took of my friend; Pooipikat in France when we visited a castle! ๐I wanted to create a mystical night school for witches! I thought it would be nice to add some magical flare to the castle by adding some pink and purple glowy lights! ๐Hereโs the reference I used:Here's the brushes I used:You can download the brushes here for free:https://lynnchenart.gum...

Mystical Flower in Autumn Woods - Process
Hello Patrons ๐โจHere's the process of my latest painting! And oh boy, this painting went through so many stages. I wanted to try out a new method of painting process by doing rough passes of the values and painting over it. It started out great at first, but I think I struggled a lot with figuring out the storytelling for this piece and how to visually show it. I also struggled with the palette since bright reds are something I'm not used to working with! I also haven't determined how I want to do the lighting so tackling this ...

The Mystical Flower in Autumn Woods ๐ง๐ชต - Early Access
Hello Patrons ๐งกHere's a new fall piece! ๐ I was inspired by vintage illustrations and wanted to create a story around an autumn fairy finding a mysterious flower in the woods! ๐ง๐ชต Where could the flower come from and who did it belong to? โจThis piece has gone through so many colour changes because I'm not quite used to working with a lot of reds! ๐ฅ I actually almost gave up on this painting ha-ha, but decided to push through!I will post the step-by-step process tomorrow and explain the changes it went through! Rainy Street โ๐ - Early Access
Hello Patrons! ๐งกHereโs my latest painting! I had so much fun painting this! ๐ฅน๐ฅน It felt so long since I took the time to get lost in the concept and details of the background. I had so much fun creating architectural elements that would fit into this cozy village surrounded by dragons. The idea for this painting is humans and dragons cohabit in this village together. The streets are enveloped by a wispy fog and illuminated by shop displays. While the weather is always gloomy, the people and dragons always make you feel at home. โจ๐...

๐ Fall Painting - Work in Progress ๐
Hello Patrons ๐How are you doing? ๐I'm taking a bit of a break from client work at the moment, so I'm taking more time developing my next piece! I started working on the fall painting (I don't have a title for this piece yet!) ๐For the character, I wanted to create an interaction between a creature/animal. ๐I usually like to create a separate file to develop my character. The first two sketches are quite loose with the main focus on the pose and line of action. After I'm quite happy with her pose, I develop it further...

Botanical Library ๐๐ฟ - Process
Hello PatronsHereโs the process for Botanic Library!Hereโs the comparison from the painting from 2019 to now! This palette was quite a challenge since Iโm not used to working with a lot of deep green in my painting so I had to find a nice balance of not making it too sickly green or ghostbusters green haha!Adding two types of lighting to the image helps break the monotonous nature of the painting! Besides that, I love painting the St. bernard! HahaThank you so much for your support! Have a fantastic weekend! ๐๐ซถLove always,Maxine
