I watched "Look Back" last week for the first time.. to me it felt strange, in a good way, of course. That feeling reminded me in some way of the feeling i had when i watched "5 centimers per second" for the first time. It is hard to describe. I guess it just hits different is the best way to describe it.

By the way: Is it on purpose that only 3 of the movie reactions are in the Collections? "silent voice" and "pancreas" are only tagged as movies, but not in the collections.

This is a big long sigh kind of movie. I also love how many CSM panels there are sprinkled in.

This movie was a one shot written by the author of Chainsaw Man, Tatsuki Fujimoto, so that's why there was a bunch of Chainsaw Man references, hopefully his other one shots get the same treatment

5. When they are at the theatre, the movie they are watching is a reference to Goodbye Eri, another Fujimoto's manga.

To clear up some things 1. On all the mangas it said it was by Kyo Fujino which is the girls names combined 2. There are a lot of references to chainsaw man like the door being painted by Kyomoto is the first panel of chainsaw man and the Shark Kock manga is similar because this was written by Fujimoto the author of chainsaw man 3. The girls names combined is Fujimoto name FUJIno and kyoMOTO 4. My personal take on the title is that this is a story from Kyomoto to Fujino so she never gives up again and to remember to look back not just at what she lost but what she gained

Glad you both enjoyed it so much. Agreed that it's a beautiful work of art. As for inspiration, Fujimoto published this on the second anniversary of the Kyoto Animation arson attack. Not sure if he personally knew anyone there but it was definitely tied to the emotions surrounding that tragedy.
