Lihua's potential pregnancy is new information to us. In her case the question last season was if she even still can get pregnant after having nearly died from long lasting lead poisoning. It was Gyokuyou's pregnancy that was revealed to us, Jinshi reassigned Maomao to the rear palace as Gyokuyou's poison tester when the possibility of a pregnancy came up. It's kept a secret as long as possible because, as this episode clearly displays, the news of a pregnant concubine can cause them to be a target to get rid of them or at least of the child.
