Where will we establish the next fortress?
🕑 Added 2021-01-05 21:10:33 +0000 UTCAs war rages on across the Folded Continents, the powers-that-be consider expanding their hold over the region. Three fortresses have been proposed in response to the changing balance of power in the area. Which of these new settlements will be constructed?
A. The Vanguard of the Magequeen
The Magequeen has learned much from observing her creations, and has begun assembling an army of night creatures to fight on her behalf. The forces of Chantedfins now seek to establish a fortress near the three remaining necromancer towers, near the eastern seaboard. Here, the armies of Chantedfins might amass their strength and conquer the great tower of Lobsterquake.
The Vanguard is to be constructed in the middle of the Dune of Bearing - a temperate rocky wasteland. This vast desert is thought to be rich in a variety of minerals - all the better to equip our soldiers.
B. The Stronghold of the True King
What's this talk of "Magequeens"?! Treason, it is! There's only one monarch in The Whiskered Tool: King Zas Gildyoung, who rules from the Mountainhome. And we have far more important matters to attend to than meddling in the affairs of wizards. The foul pig fiend, Aslot Nightmareglistens the Impervious, has grown bolder in recent years, and has conquered the ancient fortress of Workglaze. Workglaze is ours by right, and we will slaughter every goblin to the man if that's what it takes to reclaim the fortress. We must establish a stronghold near goblin lands, and launch an offensive against their cruel and evil kind.
By decree of the one true King, a proper dwarven fortress is to be established between The Glowing Hills (a temperate shrubland) and The Tooth of Ringing - our ancestral mountain. Here in the heartland, the mountain provides. Precious metals, fertile tracts of land, flowing rivers, temperate weather, the dwarven heartland truly is a beautiful place. Our Stronghold will be the envy of The Whiskered Tool, and the downfall of the Hellhog.
C. The Expedition of the Fearless
The conquest of the northern necromancer towers has made the North a far safer place for the common folk of The Whiskered Tool. Until now, few have dared venture into the frozen lands at the very northern edge of the continent. Legends tell of terrifying horrors in The Lonely Frost - just as they tell of great buried wealth. Seven brave (and perhaps foolish) dwarves want to be the first to tame the terrifying tundra, and cement their place in legend. Will they survive in this frozen hellscape?
The terrifying tundra of The Loney Frost is devoid of vegetation and bitterly cold, but is rich in clay, sand, metals, flux, and groundwater. The evil winds may bring all manner of freakish weather and undead nightmares - the dwarves must find shelter immediately if they are to survive.
