Mugatu9

Lol, so that's what Murong Bang was after...

Banana19

I really hope there is paragraph comments. I laughed my a*s off of that dragons greeting.

Apotheosis As A Service

Which chapter contains the last appearance for the dragon?

Zeta

I really like this theory as it could also be that this IS his Dao but just a part of it, the part that focuses on what he's against, so maybe it doesn't have a core yet because it's not really a path but it's paved it's boundaries.

Zeta

Yea he understood Liu Jin so he would either have to bring in his status to not kill either the brotherhood or the Lei clan or he would achieve gold lightning which would expose him as royalty and end the conflict that way. Either way he's out as royalty and a civil war could loom, or at least a shake up among royalty as Murong Bang obviously isn't a big fan of the current rulers.

Nathan V

Kindle would require him to pull the published chapters. Which is a real pain in the ass when trying to build a community. I'm sure the discussion has come up but... Well that's Haz's choice.

Kendelle Trotter

You know, I was just thinking. Why isn't this story published? And the story before the Eternal Flame Clan could easily make up the first volume. Maybe even two volumes. It's criminal that not more people know about this amazing novel when overrated generic novels like Dragon Heart and a few other Xianxia-esque stories are so popular on Kindle.

Amelgar

you probably won't be able to see his face. it will planted in the dirt

Elijah Overland

Oh shit, he never told Lei Kong, did he? Man, Kong is going to be so upset and confused. The poor bastard can only take so much debt.

Rehoboth Okorie

mic drop ... lol can't wait to see the lei clans face... also is this the big reveal?

Silverias

Lei Kong is gonna blow a gasket.

Silverias

MB totally knew

Yshua

You can put lines on mobile, you just need to make sure that you use shift+enter. It’s a PITA, but it’s possible. On mobile, hit shift so that the letters are capitalized then hit enter. Try it! (This typed via mobile).

serguzzle

Oh yeah. This is so fucking juicy. The past arc has definitely bee a bit slow-going, and I've been a little put off by how much ado we've made about fairly small things, but the acceleration here is phenomenal. At-scale cultivator battle. The Storm Dragon. Lighting coming out. Approaching the Dao. Very good. Murong Bang's response will be fucking hilarious.

Al

Once he links up with his wife, she can teach him some of her sect's techniques to make them frozen poisonous gold flaming purple electric snakes.

That would be a pretty lame cop out, equivalent to basically giving up. First off people are never equal. With powers without powers It doesn’t matter. We are not machines born with the same specs. Some are born powerful, weak, talented, disabled, wealthy, poor, handsome, ugly, beautiful, bland, intelligent, stupid, etc. we are never truly equal nor should that be the goal. We should strive to provide equal opportunities not equal outcomes. Second, there will always be people who seek power over others whether on a small or large scale, just look at our world. Removing cultivation solves nothing it just removes possible solutions. In some ways it would makes things worse. It’s giving up trying to solve the problem and running away which is what MC’s dad did. At best it’s self penance at worst it’s cowardly and self piteous, and really damn selfish. He should have instead used his power to make a better world. “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Now a proper solution in line with MC’s dao would be for him to create a society similar to the “Empire” in “The Path of Ascension.” That’s about as close to perfection as anyone could possibly wish for. Having the most powerful people force other powerful people to obey the laws and protect the rights of all citizens. All are equal under the law is a real obtainable goal as long as the “strongest” wants it to be. As is trying to provide as many opportunities for growth to as many people as possible (a goal not possible to be achieved but instead succeeds through the continuous effort to reach the ideal.) Everything else like whether people chose to risk their lives to become power cultivators or live as mortals is up to them and success is up to a lot of luck, and hard work.

Gamer Doyle

He now just needs to be linked to the Eternal Flame so he can have poisonous gold flaming purple electric snakes.

Derek Walker

I mean general Dan already knew, and that’s why he sent Jin in the first place. It’s just a question of how the third general will react

Craig

My prediction for Jin's dao and the story as a whole is that Jin's dao will lead him to creating a world where cultivation powers do not exist. Jin's main issue with the current cultivation world is that pretty much everyone is concerned only with power and nothing else. The biggest culprit of this is that some individuals are many times stronger than others due to their cultivation and those people are treated as having more value than others. This creates a society where some people are treated as gods while others are treated like dirt. One mechanism to end this power imbalance is to take away cultivation from everyone. There are several pieces of evidence pointing towards this ending. First, in this chapter Jin uses his Dao to take away the abilities of Han. A fully realized version of this ability would take away the abilities from everyone. Second, creating a world or universe is a common step on the path of cultivation systems in Xianxia. Third, a world without cultivation powers would be one where everyone is (purportedly) equal, solving Jin's major grievance with the current world. Fourth, It directly mirrors his father's decision to give up his cultivation. Jin has previously been critical but understanding of his father's choice to give up his cultivation because he ultimately didn't fix any of the problems with the cultivation world and even created more problems. Jin could decide that his father didn't take things far enough because while he removed his own cultivation, everyone else (who is equally corrupt) still has their powers.

StarBat

Oh. Murong Ban has now found the Heir. ... The rest of the Generals will soon know of this. The Empire will split.... And then reform.

sapassde .

Yeah, there's a long road to Heaven Realm when Dao is more complete too.

Navdeep Sugandhi

More like he rejects hollow cultivators

Gardor

I really hope the next chapter opens with Liu Jin sighing and saying "it's never fucking easy"

Robert Davidson

His Dao seems rooted in "there is right, and there is wrong, and power does not excuse wrong," to me. Which is a fundamental rejection of the general attitude of powerful cultivators (cf his conversations with Feng Zheng and Xun Huwen). His Dao is a declaration of war on the entire cultivation world, and I am here for it.

Navdeep Sugandhi

Storm dragon is dead

K.C.

I reject your reality and substitute my own - Lui Jin. Now to try and figure out what his Dao is. I want to say something like Genuine. Or meaningful maybe but those don't quite fit. Time to pull out my dictionary and spend days looking for the perfect word.

Robert Davidson

I'm betting on no - unless forced by circumstances, he'll probably continue his pattern of lingering in each realm longer than he has to. I think that's part of why he consitently punches higher than his weight class - because he really gets everything out of each level rather than rushing up the ladder. Should make his stay in Renegade *very* interesting.

Moonkiller24

HOLYSHIT YEEEEEES

Blorcyn

My guess is that he has identified all the things that he is not. He's very profoundly aware of what a dao is and how it fits into cultivation -- so he somehow made a hallow dao space? A place where his dao will one day be. He has no dao so lost nothing, but han's dao did not work in that dao-absent space. Also, we learn here why Murong Bang set him two targets. The gold lightning stage, for the Royal Family, must precipitate this meeting when in Storm Dragon lands, and so he has announced himself as a true born prince now, despite his intentions

Moonkiller24

Suspension? M8 he 100% knew who our boi is

Robert Davidson

. . . damn, you're right. I wonder how far back that foreshadowing goes?

Robert Davidson

It's "A Very Cliche Xianxia Harem Story". Nothing in there about it being average. Again and again it hits tired, overused cliche plot points and ideas and transmutes them to storytelling gold. The name is accurate.

Sammot

I feel like this is not mcs complete dao, there is also good in the world, but what we have seen in his dao is only the bad, I think it's still gonna change

Derek Walker

I also wonder if the soul expanding was not only his Dao but finally breaking into the Earth realm. I could see some rapid advancement soon.

Derek Walker

We need a 50/50. One half from her and one half from Lei Kong. I can’t even begin to imagine what must be going through his mind

AZ

This chapter was even better than I hoped

Gamer Doyle

I wonder how Purple lightning will interact with the Veins of Nine-Headed Snake God, due to both being inheritances. Given where the Nine-Headed Snake God died, I am also wondering if the Storm Dragon is the one who killed him. I can sort of see it now, "What one of my whelps with that guys veins, they need to come out right now. " Or they could have been friends, "Hey you got my buddies veins in you great." I think I need to go back and check and see if the Storm Dragon is a shadow, or still alive. Oh and one last thought came to me, a quote that was used by multiple eh people. A worm can become a dragon. Jin seems quite on his way to dragon.

Derek Walker

Couldn’t have asked for better fight or ended. Things are truly getting wild now

Andrew Do

Well you might be able to hide one if they never reach gold lighting or stay low level but yeah probably unlikely.

sapassde .

Amazing chapter! I had some ideas about Liu Jin's Dao in terms of name and purpose and while the former, if the name is "Hollo", was not it the purpose fits. I cannot give myself too much credit though, part of it is the similarities between Liu Jin and a certain antagonist of a series I read (and no, it is not Naruto). It is good to see the purple lightning prediction of some others too, at this rate Liu Jin may achieve both of the prerequisites of Murong Bang in his own way with the lightning and Lei clan dead members. I hate that I cannot put lines while on mobile. (alright edited, but not mobile, will keep that tip from Yshua in mind though.)

burning_the_paper

His Dao seems to be capable of creating a reality marble, subsuming reality (at least temporarily) for a domain where Liu Jin has complete control. I'm sure there's a lot more utilities for his Dao, whatever it actually is, but transporting people into unfamiliar and unfavorable ground is pretty potent.

burning_the_paper

The way Liu Jin approaches the fight, the nature of the Dao and how it is described, and how when two Emperors clash reality starts to break down (emphasizing just how eldritch cultivators are) really makes me think of the Nasuverse. AXRY Dao are about as close as you can get to Unlimited Blade Works or Mystic Eyes of Death Perception without risking getting sued. Also, the last two chapters were awesoem and well worth the buildup. And hey, Lu Mei finally got her wish - she was able to witness what happens when Liu Jin lets loose. I so wish for an intermission from her perspective.

burning_the_paper

Yes, and many in the comments speculated that it was a trap of sorts set up by MB to sus Liu Jin out, predicting there was no actual level above Gold Lighting. Any member of the royal family that can wield Gold Lighting will immediately have it turn Purple. And yes, a shitload of people just saw Liu Jin blast Purple Lighting, especially the Lei clan. Things are about to get chaotic.

nl

So that was the devious Murong Ban plot! Hahaha

Robert Mullins

That foreshadowing though, chapter 214 “Was I not pleased? How can anyone be pleased with this? Are you all animals?” Liu Jin asks. His Qi carries his voice to every corner of the stadium. “Are your lives so empty that weak beggars desperately struggling and killing themselves is somehow entertaining? What does this accomplish? What does this serve? What joy is there to be found here? Anyone who finds amusement here is worse than an animal! I don’t see people in front of me. I don’t see beasts. All I see are hollow husks who have cultivated nothing!”

Navdeep Sugandhi

Huwen is gone for over a year but his influence still get felt every now and then

MasterofNova

Well that ending was a lot, always keeping me guessing. Only question I have is if Murong Bang knew that reaching gold would make the Storm Dragon appear. Seems like a neat way to conform his suspicions of our boy’s heritage.

Yshua

I love this series! Wish it had a different name though. There’s nothing average about this, the writing is superb.

Robert Mullins

I was thinking his dao would be related to this in some way. He's never been against making sacrifices to achieve a goal and has never really held it against others. The point he's always despised is when he felt the bad things people were doing were pointless. He hates when people 'waste' lives. Not necessarily when they are sacrificed.

Blahful

I was thinking of "fulfillment". Jin is a hard working kid trying to always be happy and content. Your take is funnier

Al

So "Hollow" things are opposed to Jin's Dao. So his Dao is somehow more "full" or "complete," but in a way that is also moral and aimed at helping people (even if it is more abstract than personal in this respect.) Guys, I think our Harem Protagonist's Dao is "Wholesomeness." I'm a big fan.

Catherine

I was going to try and cancel the patreon for a month due to financial reasons - I usually fold very quickly - however I shall not even make the attempt now. This was awesome! Thanks for the chapter :)

Blahful

Well, that's one way to announce the "hidden prince" trope. Xun Huwen strikes again!

Hunter8k

Holy fucking shit

Silverias

Well, this explains why our boy's Dao is so scary.

Geese

Wasn’t purple lightning a sign of the royal family? I wonder how many people saw that? If people saw the purple lightning, how far will the rumors spread? I’m eager to read the next chapter when it comes out. Thank you for the chapter.

David Wei

Let's go purple lightning. Also just realized it must be really hard to hide a bastard in this bloodline lol.
