Hunter8k

Nicee! I loved your story 'Calamitous Bob', I stopped reading at around ch70, I might pick it up soon since it looks like I will have around 70 more chaps to binge including Patreon. Can you just spoil me on whether the soul damage is healed yet?

Jack

Damn I thought it was the Death Fashioning Scripture dudes taking them all as zombies

Mecanimus

Yes I’m both a creator and a patron here!

Silverias

If everyone quits, there’ll be no one to kill!

Mithril-blade

I suspect that a certain amount of tribalism might be at play here. Like, if the city lord were enslaving his people to have them work under him? That's one thing. Enslaving them to sell them to others? Well, see, that's different.

David Wei

The whispering depths huh. I wonder if this is the same place that Su An met Daiji in.

Hunter8k

Are you the real Mecanimus?

Len White

Well, this completely closes off finishing the mission the normal way by killing the entire brotherhood.

Further Beyond

So that's the knowledge Lady Bai's going to be training with, ah...

Moonkiller24

*sees AN* gooood

Catherine

We haven’t actually seen a reaction from his men yet other than realisation. I am curious to see which way they go

Mecanimus

It’s one thing to have slavery on your territory. It’s another to just ransom entire villages that are supposed to be under your watch. That level of corruption and dereliction of duty is appalling even by Xianxia standards.

Mecanimus

Nice and meaty chapter.

burning_the_paper

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think citizens in MB's territory are slaves, at least officially. Yes, their lives are miserable, and yes, they get brutalized by their overlord on a daily basis, but they're still not actual slaves. And yes, Su An had been taken as a slave, as were other women, but they were foreigners. It's one thing to capture and enslave people from other kingdoms, it's another thing to do so to your own, especially if they have done nothing to deserve it. I think that's why Liu Jin's men were so shocked. These are not criminals, these are not rebels, these are not foreigners, these are their own people, and innocents at that.

Lightseid

I regretfully have to agree with you. I don't see them going against the orders of Murong Bang because of this. Even if they find this bad, they know what will happen to them if they go against him.

K.C.

For all that this is a horrific revelation by our moral standards I have to wonder why Jin's troops are expected to care. They grew up under Murang Bang. They are used to the idea the strong will do whatever they want to with the weak. They are most likely used to the idea of slavery. I mean we were shown that making undesirables fight to the death is literally used as entertainment by the General. It seems odd that his men would be expected to care about the city lord selling people off. For us its horrific. For them it's Tuesday.
