I worked at a Cal lab in my younger years with precisely such a fluke calibrator. We didn't let it run 24/7 but turned it on every morning and a coffee later it was ready. Must be in the manual how long the warm-up time is.

35c/KwH? Ouch! There was me getting slightly annoyed when mine jumped from $.072 to $.075 this month. In other news I'm loving this series, absolutely fascinating! Finding those sorts of images on the internet must feel immensely satisfying.
