One more time: Laser driver is done
🕑 Added 2018-08-30 21:38:14 +0000 UTC I have announced this before, when I finished my 2-stage constant current driver, that used an energy efficient DC-DC converter and a precise linear regulator. Now I've finally managed to take control over the DC-DC converter and made it put out constant current! It's still scary, because 40A and humming things often proclaim imminent explosions. But the temperature looks fine and the absence of big heat sinks shows reasonable energy efficiency.

Nice simple design. Have you tried modulation faster or with a square wave to measure the step response time? I am looking for a laser diode driver that can source 40-45A with 20KHz or faster modulation capability.

Happy to say: It really is the amplified shunt voltage and not the control voltage input :)

As if I needed a laser driver for that :)

Thats so linear and distortion-less nice work
