Have you tried a correctly sized drill bit? I’ve never had a desildering tip I couldn’t de-clog with the right drill. They generally only go to the big gun in the sky when the coating wears off and I can’t tin them any more.

I've notice much more clogging problems when adding fresh, fluxy solder to the joints, maybe that has something to do with it. Commenters are suggesting that it's the long tube that the heater can't keep at temperature. For unclogging a particularly difficult blockage I've used a gas torch yesterday

I have a Hakko 808 desoldering gun. It looks very similar to this model only mine is all black. My biggest problem with it is when the desoldering tip gets clogged and cannot be unclogged that the replacements are $15USD.
LOL "not wasting copper"

The sarcasm is so thick in this video you can cut it with a knife. I love it! Hopefully it will not be lost on the general public. A desoldering tool has been on my wish list for awhile but as you said, it would get occasionally use at best. May have to look into this one further. Thanks for a great video. I always enjoy them.
