🕑 Added 2018-08-03 14:41:57 +0000 UTC Still something wrong tho, there seems to be a huge dc bias voltage in the higher frequency ranges while the 30 MHz cal signal (which I've verified before) doesn't get through.But we've come so far with this thing, there's probably not much more missing!

Correct, distance to fault, length of cable, impedance, everything a cable guy would ever wanna know about a length of cable. And I absolutely agree.. I'd much rather troubleshoot equipment problems then calling said cable company to get services corrected. haha

Making telephone calls is much worse imo ... but Time-domain reflectometer sounds interesting! That's the device for finding the distance to a defect in a long cable, right?

Troubleshooting and fixing high precision test equipment is seriously the worst! I have a TDR that has a few bugs that is about to get one way ticket on a rocket to the realm of the underworld.
