Product videos?
🕑 Added 2017-08-15 11:02:24 +0000 UTC I am being approached by many companies at the moment. Everybody wants their products in my videos. What do you think about it?My thoughts: I am trying to make the product videos 'on the side' when I am not busy with my fully independent DIY videos (like repair and design projects). I am charging you Patreon people only for latter and I will try to release these once per month like before.
My concern is that it looks like I am becoming a complete shill for the Chinese while in reality I just can't refuse a free toy ;)

I too share a weak spot for free stuff. It'd be sad if reviews started to dominate your content, but combinations like the EKG / Scope Review successfully walk the line.

Just make it clear throughout that it was provided in exchange for an honest review. Make sure you point out at least some negative aspect of the product.

I really enjoyed the laser engraver "review" . Further reviews of interesting stuff like that are very welcome.

If you keep it like Dave Jones ("I review your product, fair. But I will not hesitate to point out all the things that might be wrong with it, it's a review, not an advert..."), thats totally OK.
Perhaps you could create another channel for product reviews, and explore the capabilities and opportunities the devices offer. Whatever you choose to do, and however you do it, put your integrity out front.
Product videos are great way for us to see what's it actually like in the real world on the bench! While given that, I think it's also good about the DIY side of things too. (Electronic wise) Looks like you will have to work a little harder and do both if you want to have your free toys ! PS. I love free toys too.
