Penultimate paragraph "Kefira had been a huge help in his Magical training" should read "Reivyn had been a huge help in his Magical training" I believe.

I'm leaning towards the first way with a modifier, so n=number of Achievements for that Tier and the calculation is Tier 2: (3 + n) for 3, 7, 12, etc. Tier 3: (2 + n) for 2, 5, 9, etc. The rewards would also have to scale as the difficulty goes up.

The answer is a bit complicated, actually. The way Skills work, only one ability can be applied per 50 Levels from 101 (101, 151, 201, etc) and each breakthrough is a more difficult bottleneck. The System gave a hint about abilities when he first unlocked his Tier 1 Affinity Transcendent Abilities. I really don't want to say more about that in comments. As to wide vs narrow, it really depends on the person and the situation, one is not objectively superior to the other.

This is more of a meta question lol, but for transcendence skills is it better to go from broad to very specific as you progress or the opposite, very specific to broad. I've noticed Reyvins ones have been on the broader side of the spectrum. And is it reccomended to make each transcendent ability synergize with the other? Like having one being able to project your sword slashes through long distances without losing potency, coupled with the ability to 'cut' anything, and another one similar to Reivyns that makes it functionally impossible to block and dodge. You effectively have an unstoppable slash that can be projected from anywhere you lay your eyes on, that can also cut through most things.

Perhaps since Tier 1 has 4 affinities and you earn an achievement for transcending all 4. Then for Tier 2 have then get an achievement for every 3 elements they transcend. Then Tier 3 is every 2 elements. Then Tier 4 is every 1 element. Then Tier 5 is also every 1 element (since for most people there is only 1 Tier 5 element). For Tiers 2/3/4 they can earn multiple achievements for every set number of elements they transcend. So for Tier 2 they can earn an achievement with 3, 6, 9, etc. elements that are transcended. Then at Tier 3 at 2, 4, 6, etc. elements that are transcended. Then at Tier for at 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. elements that are transcended. If these seem too often then you could go with Tier 2 with 4 elements, Tier 3 with 3 elements, Tier 4 with 2 elements (basically Tier 1 & 2 require 4 elements and then every tier after that requires 1 less for an achievement). Another way is Tier 2 with 4 elements, Tier 3 with 3 elements, Tier 4 with 3 elements (basically every 2 tiers require 1 less element for an achievement). Or there are probably a few more ways to separate them out and still have a pattern between tiers, elements, & achievements.

Yes, my thought process was very similar. There's also concentrations. Ice is basically taking the building block of Fire and removing all the heat (originally). Plasma was the opposite: Super-Concentrated Fire. Metal itself is just a variation of Earth, but others are combinations. And to reiterate, it's not one-for-one for real world physics. Maybe if I had been a physics major in college I would have attempted it, but I'm not knowledgeable enough for that, and this allows more creative freedom.

I saw tier 1 affinities as primary colors and tier 2 as the color wheel, and there’s a lot of colors in between. So maybe not infinite number of tier 2 affinities but effectively so. Like how you can mix red and blue multiple ways, you can mix Fire and Water multiple ways; boil, steam, evaporation, humidity, f*cking simmer or just plain hot water. Earth and fire can be magma and lava (because there’s a difference), or any molten metal or ceramic.

There is a finite number withing Tier 2, but it's not the 8 that he has, and I haven't really thought about what else I want to fill it out with, yet. If you have suggestions, I'm open to it. That being said, if I did fill it out and was happy with it, I would include an Achievement for it... eventually, lol

Derek Walker

That makes sense. I was under the impression tier 2 affinities had a finite number and only in tier 3 did it become endless. If you go with per number in each tier it should probably by something like some number - tier of affinity. Getting 1 tier 4 affinity to transcendence seems much more impressive than getting say 4 tier 2 affinities, so the number should be higher for lower tiers. It could also be getting all your unlocked affinities at that tier to transcendence. While that makes it sort of gameable, a person who only took 1 affinity per tier would get there faster, it also makes them less versatile

Kyfe

I thought about it for the first Tier 2, but he didn't get one for Tier 1. He got an Achievement for ANY Affinity while in Tier 2, and he got one for All Tier 1's. There's basically endless Affinities, if you can think of it and figure out how to use it, it's there, so it'll be hard to give one for ALL Affinities in a Tier other than 1, so I'll probably go with an Achievement per number in each Tier.

Great chapter! The only thing that felt like it was missing was it seems he should’ve gotten an achievement (maybe with a leveling boost) and stat boost from reaching transcendence in his first tier 2 element. And maybe he gets a second one when he reaches transcendence for all his tier 2 elements.
