Statblock Generator 2.0 Release!
As some of you might have noticed, I’ve made a few updates to the most popular app on this site, the D&D 5e stat block generator. These changes include bug fixes, new monster templates for CR14+, and the ability to save statblocks and organize them in folders.To-Hit Bonus BugfixThe first changes I’ve made are under the hood, addressing some bugs and technical issues with stat block generation. These include an issue where lower CR creatures didn’t have a to-hit bonus in the stat block. That should be fixed now, but if anybody notices anyt...
Introducing Kenji’s RPG Setting Generator and Worldbuilding Tool!
Here it is! https://cros.land/rpg-setting-generator-and-world-building-tool/One of the main frustrations I’ve had as a game master was running a game in the Feywild, where I had to create every town from scratch. For example, the Elven Enclave in the lands of Summer required me to think of who ran the place, the NPCs the players would meet, the types of conflicts that would arise, and so on. It was rather taxing, and I remember doing that for my entire campaign in the Feywild. This experience led me to think about creating a world-building too...
Announcement: Adding Daily Usage Limits to Statblocks
In January, I was laid off from my position as a software developer at REI. Since then, I’ve dedicated more time to developing my AI-powered Game Master tools, which started as a passion project. To support this endeavor, I started this patreonto help cover the costs associated with ChatGPT API calls, without focusing much on monetization initially. However, as I pouring more effort into these tools, I’m shifting towards a freemium model. This change hasn’t been implemented yet, but I want to share what you can expect. The most popular app...
Introducing the AI Powered D&D 5e Encounter Generator!
Hey All! I just finished putting together the AI-powered D&D 5e encounter generator. This tool allows you to create monsters or groups of monsters and determine the encounter difficulty based on your party’s composition—simply multiply the number of players by their levels to set difficulty thresholds (easy, medium, hard, or deadly). It also calculates the total adjusted experience based on the number of monsters and their Challenge Rating (CR).What sets this generator apart is its capability to craft encounters with custom groups of monste...
Statblock Creation Frequency Survey
Hey all! I'm trying to get an idea of the usage of the average user for the statblock generator. How many statblocks do you create per week using the 5e statblock generator?
Introducing the AI Powered D&D 5e Magic Item Generator!
Many in the community have suggested that I develop a D&D 5th edition magic item generator powered by the ChatGPT API. Initially, I was hesitant. Crafting magic items in D&D is as much an art as it is a science, and I aim to create tools that offer more value than a simple ChatGPT query. My stat block generator serves as a prime example of this, where I created generic monster “templates” to across various Challenge Ratings (CR) to ensure the statblocks were mechanically sound and then have ChatGPT imbue each statblock with flavor and descr...
Introducing the AI Powered Dungeon Generator!
The Poisonous Conservatory is a room teeming with vibrant and deadly plant life. The air is thick with the scent of intoxicating pollen, making it hard to focus. Vines hang from the ceiling like menacing serpents, their leaves dripping with a poisonous sap. Strange, otherworldly blossoms bloom in twisted shapes and ominous colors. In the center of the room, a pool of bubbling green liquid surrounded by a ring of thorny plants crackles with a malevolent energy. All around, you see skeletal remains of unfortunate creatures that became trapped in ...
Introducing the AI-Powered Lore & Timeline Event Generator for Game Masters
After a bit of a summer hiatus, I’ve been delving back into building more AI-powered Game Master tools, such as the NPC generator, the 5th edition stat block generator, and the location generator. These tools are all free and barring any unforeseen jump in API costs I intend to keep them free. However, with the increase in patrons, I felt it would be great to create more patron exclusive tools. First came the bookshelf generator, which can create a list of book titles in any location on the fly. Now, I’ve launched the Lore and Timeline Even...
Introducing the RPG Bookshelf Generator for Game Masters!
I've been busy working on some AI-powered Game Master tools, some of which will eventually become exclusive to our patrons. The first of these tools is the Bookshelf Generator, a concept that was proposed by one of my users on our AI Game Master Tools discord server. This user mentioned that a particular PC in their group always had a penchant for investigating bookshelves, with the aim to perhaps find some hidden lore. This GM often found it challenging to have in depth material prepared for every bookshelf, however and suggested a tool th...
AI Powered D&D 5e Monster Statblock Generator Complete!
It's finally done! After weeks of prompt tinkering and building generic monster templates for each and every CR level I've finally finished a Monster Statblock Generator I feel confident enough about to share: https://cros.land/ai-powered-dnd-5e-monster-statblock-generator/It's still a bit rough around the edges but I think it mostly does the job well. A GM may need to make a few tweaks here and there but it seems serviceable to me. If you run into any issues or have any feedback please let me know!
Big Upgrade to the GM Dashboard: Nested Descriptions!
Hi Everyone!I've been hard at work improving the GM Dashboard and now I can finally reveal what I've been working on: Nested descriptions! Now as a user you can generate a new location description which will appear as a collapsible accordion. Within that location you can generate as many NPCs as you like! These NPC descriptions will have relevant details about the location they are in. Also, you can refresh the page and these descriptions will persist! There's more to be done but I felt that this was a complete enough version that I d...
