FC 24 - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a good HDR implementation by offering an actual Peak HDR Luminance slider in numerical value (but not in nits), which can go up to 10.000 nits.If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set HDR Brightness slider to: 40 (which is around 4.000 nits);> you're using HGIG: Set HDR Brightness slider to: 8 (which is around 800 nits) or 10 (for G2) or 15 (for G3).If you don't have an LG OLED and:> you don't ...
Mortal Kombat 1 - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox & Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a good HDR implementation as it is actually applying the system-level HDR Calibration values while also providing a regular HDR Brightness/Gamma slider. You can leave the "HDR SCENE SCALE" slider to Default / 50% as it already represent a balanced exposure/gamma.
The Crew Motorfest - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a good HDR implementation as it offers an accurate in-game Peak HDR Luminance control (even if not in nits values, but up to 2.000 nits) along with HDR Black Level and overall Brightness sliders. If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set HDR BLACK POINT slider to: 0 (leftmost position) Set HDR WHITE POINT slider to: Max (rightmost position, which is around 2.000 nits) Set HDR BRIGHTNESS slider to: +5 Clicks ...
Starfield - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xboxand PC HDR Calibration appsettings now.Starfield had one of the worst HDR implementations I've ever seen at launch (very raised HDR black level, fixed and dim Peak HDR Luminance, washed out colors with bad color filters) but after official Patch 1.8 the HDR presentation vastly improved(even if not perfect yet) by actually leveraging the system-level HDR settings on both Xbox and Windows 11 (with Auto HDR or even better NVIDIA RTX HDRenabled), so just make sure to have properly setup those and you should already b...
Armored Core 6 - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a decent HDR implementation providing proper in-game Peak HDR Luminance control in nits value up to 2.000 nits along with additional contrast and saturation controls. There is a problem tho: the corresponding, measured, nits values is usually a bit lower than the one setup in the game (e.g. 1.000 nits in game settings = 850 nits with measurements).Another annoying thing is that for accessing the in-game HDR settings you have to first start a game mission, ...
Baldur's Gate 3 - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox , Playstation and PC HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a good HDR implementation by leveraging the console system-level HDR Calibration apps and actually offering an in-game Peak HDR Luminance slider (but not in nits values) which can go up to 4.000 nits on PC, along with providing additional HDR controls, but there are some issues...Black levels seems a bit raised in HDR compared to SDR, but let's see how to fix this below.Follow the instructions on the first HDR Calibration slider by clicking right 1-b...
Layers of Fear - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation/PC HDR Calibration app settings. After latest patch, the title now provides an actual in-game Peak HDR slider along with additional HDR controls + it also fixed its default raised black levels issue. The HDR rendition of the game is much improved now.If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set HDR max. Luminance slider to: 4.000 (nits);> you're using HGIG: Set HDR max. Luminance slider to: 800 (nits) or 1.000 (for G2) or 1.500 (for G3).If you don&#...
F1 23 - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game currently has a much better HDR implementation compared to the (broken) F1 22 one. It actually offers a Peak HDR Brightness slider in numerical values (even if not properly in nits, but you can take the number you enter x100 to match nits value) and can go up to 10.000 nits, now correctly working even in-game.If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set Peak Nit Adjustment slider to: 40 (which is around 4.000 nits...
Final Fantasy XVI - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a fairly good HDR implementation by actually applying the system level HDR Calibration app values...but not exactly. In fact, its Max HDR Luminance will generally be noticeably higher in an unpredictable way compared to anything you've setup there. For this reason, Dynamic Tone Mapping is suggested. Moreover the game seems to slightly increase the black levels in HDR, but this can be fixed with the following in-game settings: Set "Screen Brightness" slider to...
Lies of P - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.Currently the game has a decent HDR implementation, with a fixed/not adjustable Peak HDR Luminance around 1.000 nits, but only for highlights, while having a fairly low average brightness around 150 nits. For these reasons, Dynamic Tone Mapping is suggested for it.Black Levels in HDR were raised in the Demo compared to SDR, but this was fixed in the final versionLeave both Brightness and Contrast sliders to their Default/Middle position. This will provide a balanced over...
Miscellaneuous Gaming Suggestions for Best Visuals & Clarity
Just wanted to share some suggestions for noticeably improve Visuals & Clarityfor all games:Avoid 30fps: especially on OLEDs, where those can results in exacerbated stuttering on camera movements and much increased input lag. Always choose locked (or unlocked + VRR) 60+ fps or even fixed 40fps mode (in-game) at 120hz (on the Console/PC) for much improved motion and input lag. Evaluate if using 120fps modes on Consoles as those usually come with noticeable visual downgrades (both in native resolution and visual effects or objects' removal fr...
LG 2023-2025+ OLEDs - Final Optimized Settings
After years of incremental upgrades, LG 2023+ OLED Series dramatically improved upon previous years' models, especially since G3and its brand new MLA panel.Luminance is much higher, ABL is much more relaxed, TPC & GSR got fixed, all presets and processing got revamped, accuracy OOTB has never been so good so all my previous Optimized Settings needed to be renewed(especially for gaming)It's almost like buying an OLED for the first timeā¦again. :)Like promised, here's my Full Setup - 1 Hour Video Guidealong with my Ultimate Settingsf...
Redfall - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox HDR Calibration app settings.Even if the game actually applies the system-level HDR Calibration app settings, it does it wrongly as shown in detail in the chart below. So if you use HGIG you could choose to adjust the system only for this game and revert to correct values for other games or personally I recommend to just stick with Dynamic Tone Mapping and let it do the adjustments for it.The game also provides additional in-game HDR sliders which in all cases I recommend to leave it to Default (0) as those already r...
LG G3 is here! - 2023 Optimized Settings: WIP
So, my G3 55" is finally arrived and after a full day of tweaking and testing I must say I am very impressed so far:Anything I'm throwing at it just looks and moves perfectly after all was configured to my likings. After 8 hours straight of bright HDR + 1 manual Pixel Refresh, uniformity looks great as well:Probably it's the cleanest LG OLED I've ever had and tried with the very minor exception of a slight pink area on one side when using darkest gray patterns, which luckily is not noticeable at all when watching regular contents...
STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox & Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.Even if the game actually leverages the system-level HDR Calibration apps, it actually had a very broken HDR implementation which got fixed with Patch 4.(SDR on PS5 on the left; Broken HDR on PS5 on the right, when using the correct settings on the console) --> FIXED WITH PATCH 4(Broken HDR also on Xbox, capped at 500 nits max when using the correct settings on the console) --> FIXED WITH PATCH 4Once you've correctly setup the system HDR Calibration app (for HGIG or DTM...
Dead Island 2 - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a good HDR implementation providing different in-game HDR controls including "White Point" or Peak HDR Luminance which can go up to 2.000 nits, but those values does not represent accurately what is seen in-game.If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set "WHITE POINT" slider to: 2.000 (nits; Max) Set "BLACK POINT" slider to: 0> you're using HGIG: Set "WHITE POINT" slider t...
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Extraction - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox HDR Calibration app settings. The game has an average HDR implementation by offering a fixed / not adjustable Peak HDR Luminance around 1.000 nits.If your TV matches it (like LG G2) then use HGIG, otherwise use Dynamic Tone Mapping for best adapt it.In all cases leave "Brightness", "HDR Exposure" and "HDR Color Saturation" to their Default settings as they already represent a balanced value.
Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox HDR Calibration app settings. The game has an average HDR implementation with a fixed / not adjustable Peak HDR Luminance around 5.000 nits.Use Dynamic Tone Mapping for best adapt it to your TV.
Diablo IV - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation or PC HDR Calibration app settings. The game has suffered from severe black level raise since launch, but now it has finally been fixed starting from Season 3.If you had adjusted your TV "Fine Tune Dark Areas" setting to compensate for the raise (e.g. -25) set it back to normal (-4), same thing for Black Level adjustments outside VRR.With black levels finally fixed, the game has a good HDR implementation now as it provides an in-game Peak HDR Luminance slider (up to 4.000 nits) and other HD...
Agents of Mayhem - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a fairly good HDR implementation and provides an actual in-game Peak HDR Luminance slider which can go up to 2.000 nits.If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set HDR PEAK BRIGHTNESS slider to: 2.000 (nits; Max);> you're using HGIG: Set HDR PEAK BRIGHTNESS slider to: 800 (nits) or 1.000 (for G2) or 1.500 (for G3)If you don't have an LG OLED and:> you don't have an HGIG option: Set HDR PEAK BRIGHT...
Matterfall - HDR Optimized Settings
The game has an average HDR implementation with a fixed/not adjustable peak HDR Luminance around 2.000 nits. For this reason it is suggested to use Dynamic Tone Mapping when possible.
Steep - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has an average HDR implementation with a fixed/not adjustable peak HDR Luminance around 1.000 nits, with rare elements on screen that skyrocket up to 10.000 nits. For this reason it is suggested to use Dynamic Tone Mapping when possible.
Destruction AllStars - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. It has a good HDR implementation by correctly applying the system-level HDR Calibration settings. No other change is needed.
Resident Evil 4: Remake - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.____________________________________________________________________________________The release version of the game has different HDR values compared to the Demo. Please double check your settings!____________________________________________________________________________________The game has a good HDR implementation with (finally) no more black level raise issues as RE2:R and in part RE3:R and provides in-game Peak HDR Luminance sliders which can go up to 4.000 nits, ...
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.I initially got tricked so sorry for that...The game does NOT support system-level HDR calibration, and HDR is off by default when you launch it.You need to go the in-game "Graphics Settings" and manually enable HDR for it to work and then you can also access many different HDR options as well, but it seems that Peak HDR Luminance won't go above 800 nits.If you have an LG OLED and:> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast: Set Maximum Brig...
HDR Games in 2023 - A complete analysis
After personally analyzing and testing 178 HDR games from 2017 up to now (both on Xbox and Playstation), it was time to collect the most important KPIs from them in order to better understand the current technical situation of HDR gaming market and how can be leveraged at best when coupled with our TVs.So let's start with some charts! As you can see, the majority of HDR games now provide an actual Peak HDR Luminance control (both on system-level and/or in-game), so this means that most of them can be dialed up properly for HGIG (with no tone...
Wild Hearts - HDR Optimized Settings
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a fairly good HDR implementation providing in-game Peak HDR Luminance control (up to 4.000 nits) along with other HDR adjustment sliders. The reference picture while changing options does not represent what actually happens in-game (it goes darker instead of brighter when increasing luminance!) so don't worry too much about it.Also the "Standard Luminance" slider to 400 will make the "Maximum Luminance" slider match actual Peak HDR Lumin...
LG 2023 OLED Series is coming...and why LG G3 is the biggest upgrade yet
This sounds like an LG promo, but it is not.At CES 2023 of last January, LG finally unveiled its LG OLEDs 2023 line-up and shook the world with its LG G3 OLED reveal with an actual brand new OLED panel technology shift after 10 years of iterative improvements.Initially expected by 2024, LG anticipated the arrival on the market of MLA-OLED Technology which, thanks to the new 42.4 billion (!) micro-lenses layer on top of the panel is able to avoid light dispersing and actually more than doubles the Peak HDR Luminance of previous OLEDs from 800 ni...
Hogwarts Legacy - HDR Optimized Settings
The game DOES USE/APPLY Xbox & Playstation HDR Calibration app settings. The game has a good HDR implementation as it actually uses the system level HDR settings up to 10.000 nits in-game...but it still provides many different in-game HDR sliders to further tweak it.It's also curious how this is the first game to explicitly recommend to turn off any form of Dynamic Tone Mapping in favor to HGIG!The best thing to do here...is NOT doing anything and leave the in-game HDR sliders alone (as those will automatically change depending of what you&#...
Welcome to my new YouTube Channel!
As my first YouTube upload, I chose to give a "swan song" to my first ever OLED (LG B7) providing a full walkthrough setup for the absolute best settings for all LG 2017 OLEDs in SDR, HDR and DOLBY VISION (both for Movies & Gaming) along with additional suggestions, tips & tricks for General and Audio Settings as well. This new video guide also superseded all the 2017 docs in the Main Post which are now redundant (you can see the exact Timestamps within the video description to find the section you need). In the near future I will do the ...
